Starting a New Adventure in Another World

The heat of the blast incinerated the [Archangel's Embrace], and it scorched my skin, ripping it, and roasting the flesh below. I could feel every cell in my body in agonizing pain. The skin on my shoulders began peeling and started incinerating my flesh. In my arms, Midori was looking up at me.

Her eyes locked in with mine, and I just smiled. She closed her eyes, trying to squeeze out the remaining of her mana and qi to protect me, but she was too exhausted. When she opened her eyes again, they filled it with despair.

"Rai, keep your eyes on me, okay?"

I tried responding to her, but almost all the liquid in my body had evaporated, so I couldn't speak and just nodded while trying to keep a brave face. Though I could feel my eyes close and when it fully closed, I felt the mysterious elixir in my body activate and start absorbing the explosion, but only a portion of it, and it was enough to keep me alive.
