"It wasn't Dad Bruce that wanted to lock me up." I tell her
"Oh so the kryptian that is being controlled." She asked me, making me want to flinch.
"Yes Ma… Mom." I told her.
"I am not prejudiced against them, I just know how controlling they can be." She tells me.
"I see." I said softly.
"I did not mean to come off rude my dear."
"No no it's okay. Papa does come off as controlling when it comes to me. To the point my Dad has threatened to lock him in a room with red sun and make him fight Dad."
"I would love to see that." She laughed.
"Mom I love you but could you not?" She asked.
"What? It would be an interesting sparring match." She said I nodded.
"She's not wrong." I tell Kayla.
"Fine, fine it would make an interesting sparring match but no one needs to pick that fight." She sighed.
"Yet." Both Mom and I said.
"I would hope ever." Kayla said.
"No if he pushes too much I can see Bruce doing it to give his daughter the freedom she deserves." Mom spoke softly.
"True." Kayla said softly.
"I think Papa need therapy but no one will listen to me." I huffed.
"We all need therapy." Mom joked as I started eating.
"She's not wrong." I said smiling. "Besides I love my parents but come on I started to learn how to fight when I would walk. I started being a side kick at the age of 10. I love being in the family business for sure. But Is it really okay to create child soldiers?" I asked. "The only way people don't see it that way is because we did it on our own free will. I am not going to deny that when I could fight beside my family it wasn't fun or thrilling, however, the Joker killed a 12 year old boy. What makes my father think he would not do it again?"
"That is a great point." Kayla said softly.
"I also can see your point but I also see his in a way. Your eldest brother was 10 when he started. Why would it make a difference with the rest of you?" I rolled my eyes.
"Yea I know." I huffed. "Now if only Papa remembered I was Skybat for 5 years before I went blind." I huffed.
"I can understand that desire." Her voice sounded like she was smiling.
"I am going to have to get a hold of your father Kayla. He has been worried about us." She said and Kayla groaned. "You know as well as I do he is going to demand to be transferred here."
"I know but it would be nice to be a full family again." Mom giggled "It will also be nice but I also know that he is going to love your dances."
"I hope so."
"I know you always want to prove yourself to your father." Mom said.
"Yea because I am the only girl of the 5 kids you have and Dad Baby's me more than even anyone." Kayla whined.
"At least yours listens to you." I said.
"Yes that is true." Kayla said, leaning against my shoulder. "Now with Dad…" She stopped.
"What about me?" A male voice asked.
"Dad, what are you doing here?" She asked.
"They transferred me and your brothers to earth."
She groaned as her head hit my shoulder. "Oh stars." I snorted.
"You have 4 brothers, I have 10 siblings." I told her.
"Fuck you my lady you don't know my siblings!"
"No but I am not wrong." I told her.
"So who is this?"
"Father, this is my mate-to-be Lara Clark-Wayne. Lara, this is my Father Maxwell."
"Hello sir." I said as I turned but Kayla stopped me before I could turn too far.
"He moved." I sighed.
"Oh I am sorry I did not realize you were blind." He said.
"It's okay I know you didn't know. When Kayla uses her magic to move she lets out a small pop." I said softly.
"I do that on purpose." Kayla said softly. "That way you know I am there and where I am."
"I will tell your brothers." I smiled at them.
"Thank you and I am sorry. The eyes that were spelled for me. Sadly last night sent me into an overload."
"It's okay love the spells where too well Dora said to let your eyes rest for the day then try again tomorrow." She tells me.
"I know I know." I huffed and leaned against her.
"So what made you say yes to her staying the night?" He asked.
"Her father tried to lock her in the house like a prisoner." Kayla said.
"What why?"
"I am blind and I perform with the girls and I don't always stay on stage." I told him.
"Are you saying because your blind your father won't let you perform?" He asked me.
"Indeed. Papa is being over protective."
"I watched the performance you girls did a few days ago. It was amazing but I can see why your father would have an issue but not to the point of locking you in the house." Mom said.
"Not all of them are flying. The only reason that one did have that was because of the song." Kayla whined at them.
"I am not saying that you are wrong or that he is right to try and control her to that point." Her mother said. "But if you were blind I would have you on a wire when you did that."
"I was." I told her. "I don't fly without a wire in shows because they can help me keep from flying into things that is what Alister does on the shows."
"Then I definitely don't see a reason for him to be so mad if you guys practice these like I know you do." She said. "But I will call your Dad and have your family over for dinner."
"All of my family?" I asked her.
"Yes."
"That's a lot of mouths." I sighed.
"Oh?" She asked.
"I wasn't joking when I said I had 10 siblings and one of them has a really big issue with me for some damn reason." I sighed.
"I know sibling rivalry can get bad."
"No mom take what Luke and Mark have and dial it up to ten Maria is hateful for no reason." Kayla said. "It's like she blames her for her blindness yet Lara burned her eyes out saving her sister."
"I think her anger is more at herself but takes it out on me."
"You do not get to try and logic out her anger. She is not getting off this when you get not only mentally and emotionally abused but I stopped her from throwing a rock at you!" Kayla hissed at me.
"I know I am not saying what she does is right I am saying that I think that is where it is coming from." I told her.
"I think your Dads need to get better control of your sister." Mom said.
"I would say throwing a rock at a blind person?" Maxwell asked.
"My sister has anger issues." I said. "Everyone in my family has some sort of emotional issue." I huffed.
"Still not the point!" My Lady hissed.
"I understand my love." I told her. "But it's still a valid point."
"You make too many excuses for her." Kayla tells me.
"I do not." I agree.
"I have to agree with Kayla." Maxwell said. "Everything that you have said sounds like you are defending her."
"I am not trying to defend her." I spoke softly. "I just don't get to see any of my family often because of the family business my Papa will not let me in the office."
"That is stupid." Maxwell said.
"But that is what happened." I tell them.
"That is crazy." He said softly.
"That's my life." I tell him.
"Not anymore." Kayla hissed at me.
"I get that love." I sighed.
"Good." She said with a smile in her voice.
"I love you too." I tell her.
"Aww." Maxwell said, making me blush.
"I have a call to make, excuse me." Mom said.
"Come on, let's go to the living room." Kayla said, pulling me up.
"Where is my cane?" I asked her.
" I think Zake took that…" Kayla said.
"I did because your brother asked me to give it to them so they could remove the tracking device your Dad put in it." Zake said.
"Fucking really?" I asked as I healed out my hand.
"Yes." He said putting it in my hand.
"Thank you Zake." I said softly.
"Your welcome Jason said that he loves you and to watch out because you Papa is trying to find you with his hearing." He tells me.
"Are you…" I stopped and let out a sighe.
"You look ready to hit someone." Kayla said.
"Oh yea." I agreed with her. "But it will be some idiot who is trying to take over the world or I get called in to help a team." I huffed.
"I love you but you need to calm down just a little bit." She said softly.
