Matching The Environment

__________ POV Ashton__________

"Covering this entire ship in En and Ren is a foolish endeavour. We need something more... Substantial..."

Cheadle walked beside me as we started heading towards the bridge of the ship. It's situated on the 4th tier, basically in the Black Whale's forehead.

I already changed into my usual clothes. And I need something to do, Pitou is still trying her best to speak. And I am beyond bored.

I already sent the Nen beasts after the ones they are supposed to be protecting, so there's no need to worry about that. It's not like I needed to go with them.

The Nen Beasts I made are intelligent enough to find their intended 'targets'.

But now I need to find a way for this ship to get through the sea. Why? Because I feel like it. Also, Cheadle asked me nicely.

I think their best bet (without my help) would be to prepare a Hunter team in the proximity of each spot that's not defended by their Weapons.

But this ship is so massive that even doing that is impossible. Maybe they had a few more powerful Nen Users.

I mean, I could cover the entire ship in my Aura. But that would be tedious. It's much easier to find an alternative than to give myself that much work.

"Cheadle... What exactly was the plan for this ship?" I still feel the need to ask. I doubt an expedition of this size would be so poorly thought out...

"Well... From my understanding, they were going to use the radars to spot any incoming monsters and take them down with overwhelming firepower..." Ok... So they weren't entirely brainless.

"B-But the radar can't seem to pick up some of the creatures... So they can't really combat them in time..." Cheadle looked down. I don't know why she's embarrassed about this.

The earlier expeditions didn't really use radars. The ships were a lot... less modern. So they had no way of knowing if their radars would be able to spot these sea monsters.

Even the last expedition was made on a simple ship. I'm pretty sure it was a sailboat. So there was no military-grade radar onboard...

Problem is, they were so confident in this technology that they didn't even bother checking... They could've sent a probe of sorts, hell they could've done many things.

But here they are. Asking the hunter association to fix their mess. And, the association is asking me now. Well, not the entire association, just Cheadle. But you get the point.

"I see..." How should I salvage this situation... To be honest, Cheadle already owes me a favour, but I won't call her out on it.

She should be already aware of it, which is why she keeps apologising so much...

Cheadle and I reached the bridge in a few minutes. The walk was silent, as I was busy thinking up a solution, and Cheadle didn't want to interrupt my thoughts.

The bridge itself was quite massive. There were a lot of people frantically running from one place to another, trying to look around the sea for creatures that might attack the ship every second.

"This is quite the mess," I said to Cheadle, she just nodded a bit. Looking at the situation with some sadness.

I guess she's lost what little faith she had in this expedition. As if me constantly reminding her how dangerous my homeland is wasn't enough.

Now, she finds out that they can't even reach the Continent without issues.

I looked around the large bridge, the captain of the ship seemed to be panicking as well. This is really not a good thing.

I guess every second could be dangerous for them. They need to peel their eyes outside constantly. There are also people watching the cameras for the back and the sides of the ship.

I think I have an idea... Since this ship is designed this way, and the sea life is less than intelligent, it could just act like a regular predator.

Killing off any being that comes near it will scare off all of the others. The problem here is that the ship might eventually enter the territory of another predator.

And that would basically be a declaration of war. But I'll think about it when I get to it.

I started explaining my idea to Cheadle. She seemed a bit surprised by it. I guess they didn't really know that the Sea Beasts are this unintelligent.

But everything should be fine for now. No small predator will approach a being of this size, no matter how many of them there are in a 'school'.

I think that's why not one of the monsters attacked the ship back then. I just thought they got lucky at the time, but I guess they just didn't want to come close to a dangerous predator...

Cheadle liked my idea a lot. She quickly ran and told it to the Captain of the ship.

The captain also told it to the rest of the crew. I could see them regaining some of their morale when hearing the plan.

Some were still stressed when they heard of the territorial disputes that might happen. But it's still better to not fear them.

This idea will work for now... The Bridge can handle the rest.

I started walking back to my room, Cheadle was still explaining things to the captain. And I really don't feel like sticking around...

It's not like I have to wait for Cheadle. She's just an acquaintance... One that owes me more favours than Netero did.

Oh well, I guess I should go and prepare my gear. I think things will work themselves out on this part of the ship...

I also need to start teaching Pitou how to use Nen. She already subconsciously use it from time to time, and she seems to understand me well enough to be thought...

Although, I don't know how much I can cram into her in just two days...(remember guys, no horny)

I guess we'll have to see.
