__________ POV Narration__________
The fight started on a high note for the humans. It was calming and encouraging for the soldiers to see their leaders swiftly kill two of the scariest beings in the horde.
But, if Ashton was there, he'd probably be the one to remind them of a small fact... Quantity could beat quality, especially in the Dark Continent, where nothing was truly weak.
Them getting rid of the dragons wasn't the wrong move, but it wasn't going to make things much easier for their defence.
But... Dragons were an extremely powerful species. Silva and Zeno, as well as everyone watching them, were about to find out exactly why they were called the masters of flames.
The dragon that was still being suppressed by Zeno suddenly decided to go all out.
It released a frightening roar, primal rage took over its body as blood-red flames spread out all around it.
The flames burned brighter and hotter than the ones before, they swallowed Zeno's men and evaporated it with ease.
Even the people on the walls in the distance could feel the heat of that flame. They looked at the scene with a rising sense of discomfort as the temperature rose exponentially in the city.
"What..." One of the soldiers was momentarily distracted, unfortunately, this wasn't the time to be distracted.
A strange winged lion grasped him and tore off one of his arms with its sharp teeth. The beast was quickly driven off by two spearmen. But the pained screams of the man weren't exactly doing wonders for the morale of the defending army.
It was even worse than the soldier that lost his arm was one of the stronger Nen Users within their ranks.
The screams of that man woke everyone up to a realization. It didn't matter how strong they were. All it took was a small lapse in concentration, just a split second, for a man to lose his life or limbs.
The realization ate away at their psyche as the horde was already upon their walls.
Zeno and Silva were also not having the greatest of time. Now that the Ancient Dragon was going wild, there was simply not any way to get close to the dragon either.
Silva, however, wasn't about to let that stop him. He had been charging two explosive orbs for quite a while now, and he prepared to release them onto the flaming beast.
The two knew that they needed to hurry, as the wall would fall without their assistance. Maha had already done his job and took down two of the Ancient Dragons almost by himself.
The old assassin was already far too injured to help all that much on the walls.
Silva released the gigantic Explosive Orbs from above the clouds. The dragon looked up at the large spheres, it angrily opened its maw and released a stream of blood-red flames towards the spheres.
The flames seemed to overwhelm the Explosive Orbs, completely swallowing them and giving the sky a somewhat grim crimson coat.
Silva and Zeno managed to get out of the way just in time thanks to Zeno's quick reactions.
The Explosive Orbs detonated into the sky, the explosion however was quickly muffled by the flames around it. Only showing up in the form of a great expanse in the stream of crimson flames that the Dragon breathed out.
"Shit!" Silva managed to lose his cool after seeing the ineffectiveness of his strongest attack.
Zeno, however, didn't panic too much. Silva also managed to regain his calm after receiving a slap from his Zeno. "Calm down already, this much was to be expected."
Silva felt ashamed by his outburst, he ended up coughing a few times in embarrassment.
"What's the strategy in fighting this then?" He asked while looking at the Beast that was still breathing flames into the sky.
"... I can think of a few things." Zeno then flew off towards the walls. Silva took the message and started distracting the Beast.
Well, it was quite difficult to even touch it, so he was forced to keep throwing smaller explosive orbs towards the beast to keep its eyes away from Zeno.
Maha also saw the situation, he instantly guessed what his grandson was trying to do, so he took out Yama's Dagger and threw it towards Zeno, hoping to meet him midway.
Zeno managed to catch said dagger with ease, he then turned around mid-flight and headed straight for the dragon.
He encased himself in the thickest aura he could, but he could still feel the heat to his bones when he got too close to the beast.
He gritted his teeth and ignored the pain like the trained assassin he was. Then, he finally managed to get close to its skin. All it took was a small swing of the arm, a small scratch was all that the Dagger needed.
Then the beast's flames seemed to die out almost instantly, as Zeno quickly retreated. His body was filled with third-degree burns, he was in a much worse condition than Maha.
"That takes care of it..." He spoke out to Silva, he was currently quite weak, both due to injuries, and because he wasn't quite used to using Yama's Nail. One needed to get used to the massive drain it had on Nen.
Zeno didn't want to use it from the start with the hopes of being able to take down the dragon and return to the Walls and fight. But they couldn't afford to allow the dragon to run wild any longer.
The heat was distracting, and if one attack was directed at the walls, then everyone would be in danger. The boost in power that the Ancient Dragon received took everyone by surprise.
It was all due to their lack of knowledge on the Ancient Dragons, now they at least knew about the rage phase that it had.
The Dragons were a peaceful species, but they still had to defend themselves at times. The rage faze was what got them named 'masters of flames'. By choosing to burn through their boundless vitality, they would be able to release a flame powerful enough to rule the lands around them.
The first two were dispatched before they had a chance to make such a drastic move, that was the fortune of the Zoldycks, or rather, the results of their decisive and precise techniques.
Now, with the larger threats taken care of, Silva jumped off to deal with the wall. He also grabbed Zeno, who was far too injured to fly himself there.
Upon reaching the wall, he saw just how bad the situation had gotten. The humans were simply getting overwhelmed by the powerful beasts.
Even worse, the emission users were slowly going to run out of ammunition, there were barely any artillery shells left, and the horde had only been slightly thinned. It was barely noticeable, as many were still coming towards the shores of the new human continent.
Silva immediately regrouped with his family and started helping them fend off the beasts. He ended up releasing one explosive orb after another.
Killua danced around the beasts at blinding speed, Illumi used his nails to gain control of dozens of beasts, he kept expanding the number he controlled by the minute.
Kalluto filled the surroundings with small papers, he defended his side by constantly blinding beasts and aiming for any blind spots he could find, the rest of the soldiers on his side usually dealt the finishing blow.
And so, the situation somewhat stabilised. The defences looked like they would hold for a while...
Well, that was until one of the more attentive snipers noticed something strange.
Within the waters of the sea, he could spot countless silhouettes. He then noticed a few heads pop up. He gulped and shouted:
"THEY'RE COMING FROM THE WATERS! SWIMMERS, WE'VE GOT SWIMMERS!"
Things were bound to go downhill from there.
