STAY HERE

I wasn't sure that my second life would run smoothly without a hitch. My thoughts branched off to form a conspiracy of its own. I understood why Barra's mood suddenly changed yesterday, it wasn't because of a question about Niki. However, one question that offended the Sanders family.

What provoked my emotions was that no one told me about this. After her graduation, Jazzlin just stayed at home doing nothing like living in prison because everybody forbade her to go unattended. How unfair it was for her.

I couldn't just ignore this problem. I had to know why Haytham wanted to destroy the Ozza's. Obviously, he wasn't the boy who used to be my best friend. Haytham wasn't this cruel, he was kind-hearted and didn't have the strength when it came to hurt someone.

If I was still my old self, it was likely that I would always support Haytham. But now things were different. I wasn't Janielle anymore, and I was the one that Haytham wanted to destroy.

I definitely needed girls' night out.

I had agreed with Elsa that tonight no matter how much they curb me out without guard, I would still go. Ronald told Elsa that tonight Barra would attend an event with Mr. Salvatore's family. Accidentally my luck.

"Look, our Young Lady too good at cooking." Elsa teased while cutting meat accompanied by Lucas, our best chef.

"I also just found out yesterday that she can cook." Lucas commented.

"I can't wait to taste it." Elsa nudged my elbow then took some spices.

"Next time I'll cook for you but, this one special for Barra." Lucas cleared his throat and Elsa gave me her a dirty look, making my cheeks a little rosy.

Seeing the others lowered their heads and returned to their respective duties was enough to tell me that he was behind me. His breath was right behind my neck, "I can't wait to taste it." His voice sounded so smoky.

I turned my body and surprised he was too close. His body radiant gave me warmth, his strong hands trapped my body between them.

As usual those eyes always looked at me, deeply. I giggled softly, "Your special fried rice waiting for you."

"I'm glad you still remember my favorite food." He smirked.

"I am." I pressed my lips. "Now, If you keep trapping me like this, how can I continue my cooking?"

His hands were holding my waist. "How about your wound?" He asked and I immediately lifted up my finger.

"See? Much better."

He breathed a sigh of relief, "Good to know. If you still hurt, you don't need to cook." He reminded me.

I shook my head, "I promise you, I'm fine."

He let go of me, "Okay then, I'm gonna wait you there." He pointed to the dining table.

"Right away Sir." I laughed as he was glaring at me then heading to the table.

"Aww, what was that?" Elsa was teasing me and Lucas chuckled.

"What?" I played dumb.

"You really are a great actress." My cheeks started to turn red when Elsa and Lucas looked at me with such a look. Ronald came over to us and then pecked Elsa's lips.

"He repeatedly refused to attending meetings, just because he wanna stay home." Ronald grinned.

"So sweet! If you guys get married, I'm happily to be able to cook for you everyday." Lucas laughed and then stirred the soup that he had been sprinkling the seasoning on.

"And you promised to cook something for us, too." Elsa raised her brow up and down. "How about cook it when you two get married?"

"Oh God, please stop talking about nonsense." I groaned in embarassment.

"Nonsense? Look, he never once took his eyes off you." Elsa whispered. I immediately looked at him, our eyes locked. As soon as possible I looked back at Elsa, who was already grinning for managed to embarrass me.

A few minutes later I finished cooking. Barra was on the call, so I sat around waiting for him to come back.

"It must taste good." After the call he came back and sat in front of me.

"Try it." I stared at him, smiling like a four year old girl waiting for her compliment.

He took the first bite, "How?" I immediately pounded the table just to make him shocked.

"You're so excited." He chuckled. "It tastes so good, I love it."

"Are you sure?" I was sure my eyes were already emitting solar light.

He nodded, "100% sure. You're amazing."

His compliment motivated me even more. I made him special food sincerely from the bottom of my heart. Seeing he was eating it, gave me a smooth sensation. I rested my head on the back of my hand as I continued to stare at him.

"You want some?" He asked. Quickly, I shook my head.

"It's special for you, and only you." I answered without realizing it. He looked at me then stroked my hand before finally continuing to finish his food.

"And yeah, before I forget to say. Tonight I'll be gone for the meeting. I hope you're okay here?" He asked after finished eating.

I already knew that, I had even prepared a plan for that, "It's okay." I smiled faintly.

He sighed, "I won't be long. I don't wanna go but it--"

"Go on, your work is important after all."

It was like he got slap from my answer. "You're more important than that." He answered in a heavy deep voice, almost hypnotizing me.

"I mean---" He cut me off and said again, "Nothing is important more than you." I blinked. "So, please don't do something that smells like trouble when I'm not around you. Stay here don't go anywhere." His tone was commanding, bossy, and full of seriousness as if danger would come if I walked out without him.

My breaths quickened, "Y-yeah." I wasn't sure.

"Promise me." He seemed to be able to read my crazy thoughts. His eyes didn't escape mine, sharp, and intimidating. "Promise me." He said, dangerously.

I doubted, "I promise." I gulped when those word left my mouth.

"Sorry to interrupt, but there's a call from Mr. Salvatore to immediately prepare for the meeting tonight." Ronald came over to us. Barra nodded before he answered, "Wait for me in my office." Ronald nodded and walked away.

"I trust you, so please don't break this trust of mine." His tone full of warning before finally leaving me.

That was so fucking sexy, but hell he was just sent me a warning! I slapped my forehead, "I gave him my promise." No shit, sherlock.

Believe me, even though he asked me to promise him, he didn't just believe it. Security would be tight tonight.

Barra wasn't a brainless man who simply believed what I said as easy as turning a palm. He was a successful billionaire who had occupied the very first position since two years ago. His business strategy was accurate and realistic. The way his calm-thoughtful auras could easily turn off his opponents. And, the most important was his secretive eyes. They hold a million secrets and meanings.

My rebellious side took over, prompting me to go, so I changed my previous plans. Elsa assured me that we could go through any shortcut she knew inside the mansion. She had been working here for a long time, so she knew there was a back road that was rarely traversed by the guards, let alone the servants.

Elsa also had our makeup stuff, dresses, and high heels ready in the bag. For God's sake! She even lied to Ronald about this. We were practicing being sinners, for sure. If Clarissa found out, she wouldn't be proud of me.

"This is so crazy, if we get caught we could get in big trouble." Elsa sounded scared.

"I will lock my room as if I was in, sleeping." I calmed her down. "I'm sure if we're careful everything would be fine."

"I hope this won't be the last day I breathe." She pondered.

"You're too much."

"No, I'm nervous." She was paralyzed to the spot.

I tapped her shoulder, "Take it easy. We won't get caught." I smiled.

We were watching television in the living room. For some reasons we liked the same program, which was a program about marriage relationships. Everybody said that it was all just a set up, no matter what, we still liked it.

I got uneasy breathing when I saw Barra followed by Ronald and Jake out of his office. He was adjusting his tie then jammed his hands in his pants pockets like a greek god in those navy blue Armani suits. He walked towards me, spreading his manly scent to every corner of the room. I couldn't move and all I heard was my own heartbeat.

"Are you done checking me out, principessa?" His eyes held captivate in my every moves.

I tried to shrug it off but failed miserably, "The cocky jerk comes back." I had gone absolutely scarlett with embarassment.

"I like my new nickname." He smirked, trying his best to get on my nerves. And, he succeeded.

This guy could be so annoying sometimes, and also so caring. He kept playing with my feelings and thoughts.

"When I'm not around, stay inside. Don't leave this mansion." It wasn't only Barra who gave this warning, but also Ronald to Elsa.
