CHAPTER 10: SEARCH FOR MELODY

CRYSTAL'S POV

"Nanay Bella? Where's Melody?"

"Isn't she in her room baby?"

"No I haven't, and anyways she wouldn't leave without permission, plus she takes a long time to wake up"

"Honey? Is there a problem?" mother said

"Ma, Melody isn't in her room and some of the things are missing there."

"What? Are you sure? Maybe your just wrong, maybe she just left early somewhere."

We went to Melody's room to check, but like I said we found things missing there and her bed doesn't seem to have been slept in the past hours.

"Nanay Bella you haven't heard her mention that she's going somewhere last night? Or maybe she'll go out?" mother said

"I'm afraid not darling, the only thing I remember is her telling me she's tired and will rest early, she even took a bath, I'm sure I would have heard her go through the gate"

"Dad! Melody's missing!" I exclaimed

I heard dad run up the stairs and come inside the room we were in.

"Are you guys sure? Have you checked carefully?"

"Yes we did... I think we should call the police dad I'm worried." I said worriedly

Where are you Melody! ... I called every friend we have at school but it's either they don't know or they won't pick up, maybe busy with things.

We started to call Val, my older brother. For sure he'd come home if he finds out Melody's missing, I think it's also time he comes back home after 7 years of not seeing each other.

"K-kuya... Hey, what's up how are you?"

"Hey baby, I'm fine, you called?"

"Yeah I.. I need to tell you something... Very important." I said nervously

"Is there something wrong? Tell me." his voice changed to seriousness

"The thing is.... Melody is missing ... We left her here with nanay Bella last night coz we went to a dinner invitation and she said she won't come because she's tired especially before she arrived around 7:45 last night since she came walking from the compound. So that's it, mama and papa just let her go but this morning we didn't see her and there was no sign that she slept here and some of her belongings were missing" I explained

" What?! Did you contact her? How about the police? Did you guys call them already?! "

" Yes but she can't be reached and the police are on their way. "

" I'm coming home, I'll be there my tomorrow morning, wait for me. "

" O-OK kuya take care. "I said back. Where the hell are you Melody why aren't you picking up your phone.

Next Day:

"Crystal, ma, pa is there any lead where she is? " Kuya Val said while placing his luggage into a spare room

"No nothing, we contacted her friends but they know nothing"

"The hell, what has gone into her."

"The police are now starting their search since its 48 hours now since she dissappeared"

I saw him place his computer and started typing things.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm contacting some of my IT friends abroad to find the sattalite location of Melody's phone. I just hope they find it immediately. Give me the contact number of her phone again Crystal."

"Ah OK... Her phone number is 0917*******"

"OK thanks. I'll tell you if I have any updates."

THIRD PERSON'S POV

"Boss, we lost track of their other daughter."

"What? Didn't I tell you to keep a track of her Brylle?!"

"Yeah my people were keeping a track of her when they both went to the restroom, when they came back they waited till morning until they found news that one of their daughters are missing."

"YOU BETTER GET THE HELL HERE RIGHT NOW WITH YOUR GOOD FOR NOTHING PEOPLE." I exclaimed then turned the phone off.

Idiots, I told them to keep a track of their daughter at all costs. Now what are we going to do with her lost.

FEW MOMENTS LATER

" Boss were here"

BANG BANG BANG

"The hell with your minds! What were you thinking going to the restroom at the same time dummies!"

"B-boss s-sorry.. We were just really called by nature." Lando said terrified

"How many drums of water did you guys drink for nature to call the both of you idiots at the same time."

"Uhmmm... We only drank 4 bottles of mineral water boss."

"And your talking back now huh." I pointed the gun at them. I'd rather finish them off then deal with their stupidity.

"I'm giving you another chance to correct your mistakes. I guess if we think it this way, your stupidity didn't go for nothing, we can finally use her against her parents. Find Melody right this instance and don't you think about calling me kung wala pa kayong update understand!" I said and turned away from them, I could hear them mumbling and leaving the building,I halted.

"Oh and Brylle. I want you to be the one to capture Melody. Make Dodong and Lando to trace her then put her in our other warehouse near Pampangga."

"Sure boss."

"Kuya, it's getting late... Is there any other updates?"

"Yeah there is but bad news. The last place where her phone was located is leaving this area. They can't trace her phone, it seems that she took ker sim out or something... Its untraceable..." he said with exasperation

"I'll try to look again in her room incase she left something for us to know where she is."

"OK I think that's the best we can do for now."

Pumunta ulit ako sa kwarto ni Melody, I hope she left something at least to say where she's at. I looked around everywhere I could look at when my eyes sat upon a letter on her table where she does her homework and art. I took it in my hands and read it.

Dear Ate,

I know you'll be searching for me by the time you guys wake up and I'm gone. I just want you to know that wherever I'm going is a safe place I promise that, I just need space and time. Please forgive me if I haven't told you guys this properly I just knew you guys won't let me if I tell you where I'm going. Tell mom and dad not to worry I'm safe and will be back within a week or so. I do love you and our parents but this is all too much for me to handle at the moment. Keep safe ate I love you

What was she thinking running off without us knowing. But at least she'll be safe right? She said she'll be fine. She's not dumb enough to put herself in a situation that'll worsen what she feels.

I ran towards kuya Val I have to show this to him.

"I can't believe she would do this. What does she mean safe? There are no safe place for her now with all the death threats at our family. She's dead when she gets back here." he said dumbfounded

"Well we must understand her, everything has been a lot and she hasn't told anyone about what she felt this past few months that's been going on. It's been really hard for her.. though she's an introvert she was starting to get used to having friends and suddenly she needs to avoid them just to protect them from getting hurt. I'm sure she's feeling lonely and she just wants to get back on her feet again. She's strong you know that. "

" Yeah I know... I should've been there for her. I know she's been in a rough state, I miss her already but with all the things going on with my business I wasn't able to get time for her. For all of you. "he said sadly

" It's OK kuya. You'll be able to make it up to her when she gets back. But do you think we should continue the search? "

" Yeah we'll continue it just incase something bad happens at least we'll get a lead. "

" OK I'll tell mom and dad about this."

MEANWHILE.......

" Aid come on! Look at the time! We're gonna pick your siblings. " I said excitedly

" I'm coming I'm coming, looks like your more excited than me. "

" Of course! Because I'm gonna visit their school! You didn't let me go yesterday hmpf!"

"Eh its raining and anyways you might slip and the road is muddy"

"What do I care about mud, I can just take a shower in the rain or when we come home."

I pulled him so we can move quicker

"OK Miss excited, I'm coming. Anyways there's nothing interesting there, our school here is just simple"

"Nah, I don't mind. I just want to See them."

It was quite a long walk to their school and when we arrived they were just leaving to go back home, it was a small place but the fields were at large, it was a peaceful sight and everything was simple,we waited outside for Denica, Elise and Andrew.

"Ate! Kuya! We're here!" Denica excitedly waved at us to come over

I saw them practising a dance routine probably for their projects.

"Oh you guys are still practicing, where's your kuya Andrew." I asked

"He's in the library, he loves reading books and he goes there when we're still busy with stuff for school, just a little remedy for boredom." Elise butted in

"Really? Well that's good."

"I'll just call your Kuya Andrew OK? I'll be back." Aid said

"Sure"

I was left with Elise and Denica left, they went to position again and their leader was also very angry because the other members didn't do the dance well. I just laughed as I looked at them, because I didn't participate in such things when they were my age, I'd be given at least 5 essays to finish off to be able to recover in dance grades.

"Ate, you should join us! This is fun, come here quickly."

"Don't worry about me ... I don't like to dance and anyways I don't know how to." I said nervously

"Don't worry we'll help you!"

AID'S POV

Andrew and I were on our way back to where Melody was. I saw that my siblings and their group were pulling her to dance. He also struggled but he did nothing but obey. I laughed looking at them as the kids circled around her. She's cute to look at because she's also small hahahaha, I estimate she's 5'4 in height, that's high in the eyes of others but for me it looks like she's small hahaha.

I saw her spinning around in her floral dress laughing and holding hands with the younger grades. She looks so perfect her hair flowing against the wind in a beautiful rhythm.

Hays, there are things that are just for the eyes aren't they Zaid. "Smirked my younger bro.

" What do you mean, idiot."

" You are just really stupid. If I were you I'd ask her out. I won't let her go if I were you. "

"I don't know what you're saying, come on. "And I started walking back to the others.

" O that's enough, are you done with your practice?"

" I asked my siblings."

Yes kuya, it was fun for ate to dance with us, she's really good at it."

"Hahaha nahh, my hard isn't as flexible as yours."

"And at least not as hard as kuya Andrew's body hahahaha ""

" OK that's enough, don't fight anymore. Let's go home it's already 5 and I'm starving.We have mama's special adobo tonight, the last one to run to the house looks like a monkey! "I said while running.

We ran home laughing and gasping for air. The savor of our dish could be smelled all the way outside. When we finished eating, Melody and I went for a walk in the garden. I took her on a swing and made her sit down.

"Why are we here Aid? What's up."

"Shhh. Just wait you'll see."

I brought her here to surprise her, because mama and papa also took us here when we were little, sometimes we would sleep here, we waited a few more minutes and saw the dotted lights on the tree until they multiplied. Then I heard her gasp in amazement.

"Do you see that? Do you know what that is?"

"Fireflies..." she whispered.

"Yup,fireflies.This is where mama and papa and my siblings used to sleep when we were little from time to time. I also pour my time here when I am sad or angry, they keep me calm in times of trouble. They say if you make a wish upon these little creatures it will come true" I faced her and I saw her looking at me

" Really? They are really nice, only now have I seen so many fireflies. We don't have it in Greece. If I would make a wish they are too many I can't give them my wish one by one Hahaha."

" Why what did you ask for? "

"My wish? First I wish our problems were gone, hopefully the company will be fine and there will be no death threats. Second, I hope I have time with my mom and dad. Honestly, they never gave us enough time because they were always busy with their work. That's why, because of that, I haven't been close to them either. I'm always angry, we're always fighting, you're even better, Even if you're not rich at least your happy together. There's time for each other, your lucky in that part Aid."

Melody and I were just like that, we talked about many things. Until she could fall asleep voluntarily on the swing she was sitting on.I caressed her face, her soft cheeks against my hands felt so assuring her slow breathing could be heard.I carried her slowly so I won't wake her up, she seemed tired so I don't think she'll be able to wake up that easily. I took her to her room around 10:48 pm when I took her to her room, everyone else was asleep except Andrew who was finishing his school works for the next day's to come.

I placed her gently and looked at her calm sleeping face, her beauty stood out more in the dim light of the room, I kissed her gently on the forehead and left her to be.
