Eclipse POV:
A groan slips through my lips as I walk.
"Seriously Fiesta?" I give her a pointed look as she laughs and runs off.
I shake my head as I pull my hair into a pony tail and walk into the gym. That girl was going to be the death of me one of these days. I slowly wrap my hands as I make my way to the training room and set the hologram battle to start.
My mind wanders as my body moves automatically, ducking and turning as I fight the lifelike dummies. In 2 weeks it will be my birthday and the 10 year anniversary of my crash. You see... I'm not from earth. I'm from a planet called Urandia and when I was 13 I crash landed here on earth. All but one person in my family think that I'm dead, and that's the way it's going to stay for now. Sure I check on them every once in a while but there's a reason I don't go back.
The familiar fear of being found hits me like a rock and I miss my footing.
"Fuck!" I cry out as I just barely roll out of the way before I can get hit.
I do a spin kick, embedding the robot in the wall as the simulation times out. Sweat drips from my hair as I make my way out of the room. The problem with getting found is that my dad is the king of our world, and I'm God's chosen hero. If my father found out that I was alive then he would force me back home and I wouldn't be able to be the hero I am.
Sirens scream as I exit the building. I curse under my breath as water crawls up my body, turning my outfit into my white hero uniform. I wipe my face of any emotion and steel myself as I enter town.
"Hey bro... long time no see." I smirk as Phoenix turns towards me with his eyes flashing.
Remember when I said one person in my family knew I was alive? Well meet Black Phoenix, aka Leon Rhine, aka my twin brother. He hates me by the way. He blames me for the death of my fiancé and his best friend. Not that his corrupted gem helps.
"Stop calling me that!" He growls at me as a dagger whistles through the air and embeds itself into the pole behind me.
"Awe... and here I thought you loved me!" He snarls as I smirk even wider.
I barely have time to jump to the right as the ground shakes and starts to split open beneath me.
"Now wait a minute... that would have hurt!" I pretend to pout as he stomps towards me.
A flash of light appears in my hand as I raise it to block the sword that was about to slash into me. Metal on metal rings through the air as we struggle against each other. My golden sword flashes ever so slightly as his purple one hisses. My foot comes up and slams into his gut, driving him back as I twirl my sword in my right hand. I give him a grin as he glares at me.
"Awe did that hurt?"
He snarls again before lunging at me. The rest was a blur of motion as we match each other blow for blow. Neither of us back down as we fight, my eyes continuously looking for an opening before I finally see it. My free hand flicks to my belt as I spin, grabbing my blue dagger and then bringing it down into his thigh. He screams in pain as the water dagger's poison enters his bloodstream.
"Get out of here." I growl as I pull the dagger out and push him away.
He stumbles back as his minions catch him, "I'll be back... one of these days I will kill you!" He yells at me as black smoke envelopes them and then they are gone.
I sigh to myself as I put the sword and dagger away, ignoring the cheers around me as i speed back to the Academy. I quietly slip into my on campus room and grab a pair of clothes from the duffel bag before climbing in the shower. Tears run down my face as I remember why my brother and I fight.
[Flashback]
I smile happily as I stare out the window. I couldn't wait to see my brother and Jesse again. It had already been a year and two months since we had started dating and we were in love. All thoughts about what would happen when I was reunited with her family had gone out the window and Jesse had promised a special surprise for me tonight. A knock on the door brings me out of my stupor. Smiling widely, I open the door. Jesse stood there with a bouquet of roses.
"Hello beautiful." He smiles warmly as he hands me the flowers.
"Awe, thank you handsome. Let me put these in a vase of water and I'll be ready to go." I grin as I accept the flowers and smell them before placing them neatly into a vase.
I walk back outside, locking the door behind me and slide me arm into his as we started walking down a path. Flowers lined the fencing
along the way.
"You look amazing in that dress." Jesse tells me as he looks down at the red sequined dress.
I feel my face turn red as I look at the ground. "Thank you Jesse. You look pretty good yourself in that
suit."
He smiles as he kisses my forehead. "You're sweet."
"So where are we going?"
"I thought tonight we should do something more thoughtful and more romantic than some restaurant."
He smiles as he pulls me off the path and into the garden portion of a natural park. I giggle, holding up my dress as I follow him to a cliff.
I can't help the gasp as I look around in surprise at the picnic he had set up,
overlooking the beautiful sunset
"Oh Jesse! This is beautiful!"
"I'm glad you like it." He smiled. "Only one more thing could make this more special. Eclipse...." He pauses as I turn towards him, getting down on one knee, "Will you marry me?"
I cover my mouth in surprise as tears flood my eyes. "Oh! Yes!"
He slid the ring onto my finger as he stands up.
I hug him tightly. "I love you Jesse." I told him as I pull away. "But what about being a guard? You can't
stay with me and protect my family at the same time."
"Leon got permission to move to earth and I'm coming with him." He grins as I squeal and hug him again.
He chuckles, "Come on, our food is getting cold."
I giggle as I pull away and sat down on the blanket. Minutes after we started eating, my phone began to ring.
"Stronggirl, there's a huge fire at the fiberglass plant. I know it's your day off but we need you now!" Warfalcon's frantic voice came over the line.
"I'll be right there." I reply as I jump
to my feet. "I'm sorry baby but I have to go." I tell Jesse.
"It's ok, my love. I'll be here when you get back." Jesse kisses me.
I snap my fingers, changing my suit.
"You're getting good at that." He smiles before waving at me as I speed off.
"Jesse I'm back!" I call out as I come back 15 minutes later. "Jesse?" I frown as he doesn't answer.
I push the last branch out of my way, stepping into the small clearing. I let out a gasp and run over as I see him on the ground, struggling to breath.
"Jesse, what happened?!" I exclaim, before noticing a blue flower beside him.
My blood runs cold as I recognize the Arial Blossom, one of the most deadly flowers known. It uses a sweet scent to attract it's victims and then attaches itself to their noses while it shoots poison into their bodies.
"Don't worry. I'll get the poison out." She tell him as I kneel beside him, focusing on the poison in his blood.
I frown as I try to force the poison to
separate from his blood and out his pores. But after several minutes of struggling, he reaches up and
grabs my hand weakly.
"Its...too...late...for...me" he whispers.
"N...no I can do this. Just stay with me Jesse, please." I plead through my tears.
"Please...listen to...me. I...w...want you...to...m...move on...w...with your...life. Tell...Leon.... I'm...sorry..." he wheezs as he coughs, "and re.. remember...I...will always...love you."
"I love you too." She whisper as she hughim tightly as he fadesaway.
I cry harder as he stops breathing and becomes still, only moving as I hear a twig snap behind me. Turning I find Leon standing over me in shock.
"Leon, I..." I start to explain.
His face twists into a look of pure rage.
"You killed him."
[End flashback]
Afterwards, the flower melted and reformed as the legendary sword that he fights with. My own sword also appeared in a flash of light as we fought for the first time. It wasn't until much later that I realized that the source of his hatred was the power gem in his hand. We both have one, it's the source of our powers, but his is corrupted and evil. I sigh as I step out of the shower, catching a glimpse of the scars running along my back. Phoenix had taken a whip to my back years ago, and the scars never went away.
I shake my head as I grab the duffel bag and walk out the gates of the academy. Guess I'll be sleeping at home tonight since I have a few days off.
