A Halloween (Last Part)

"She has to be in the closet," he said. "Shine the light at the closet doors," he told me, while handing me his phone.

     "Okay," I replied.

My whole body was trembling. Dilon reached his nervous hand out twisting the door knobs. Pulling it open carefully. Something felt like it was pushing its way out. Whatever it was smelled malodorous, making me cover my nose.

Something rolled out. I took the concentration of the light off of the door to focus on what rolled out. I was perturbed at what it was.

     "Dilon," I sounded concerned.

It was a human head. Dilon continued to ease the doors open at a gradual pace because he didn't want what was in there to pour out.

There's no way this is real.

     I said in my head.

I bent down to touch it. Its eyes were cut out, and its mouth was sewn.

"Whatever this is is heavy," Dilon said, struggling."I don't want it to come rushing down because I don't want to break anything."

Red flowed on Dilons shoes. I walked over to the closet with the light. I shined it in. It didn't take long for me to figure out what it was. I backed away aghast.

     "What is it?" Dilon questioned.

"There's tons of b-bodies piled up," I sounded spooked.

Dilons eyes nearly popped out of his head. He let go of the door and backed away. A horde of bodies spilled out causing blood to splash everywhere. I blocked my mouth from a scream that wanted to escape. Dilon and I were both frozen like statues in place, not moving.

Until, Dilon broke the silence,"What the-."

Bodies were scattered all over the floor. It made a god awful smell that spread across the entire basement.

"We need to leave now," I got out.

"Ok, let's get out of here," Dilon agreed, covering his mouth.

We began speed walking back to the stairs to get away. Seconds later our speed walking turned into running. We hurried up the stairs. The basement door slammed shut before we could reach the door. Dilons phone danced around in my hand.

     No!

I voiced in my head as I reached for the door handle.

I twisted the knob, but it wouldn't open. I kicked, banged, and slammed into the door. Dilon joined in doing the same thing I was doing.

"It's locked, how did the door lock?" Dilon questioned me.

"I don't know, it just started closing all of a sudden," I responded.

"This can't be happening right now," Dilon sighed."Give me my phone."

I quickly handed it to him.

The phone screen illuminated his face when he turned his phone on. There was no service, but he still tried calling the police. It didn't work. Dilon let out a sharp sigh.

"It's not working," he said, frustrated.

"Okay, look Dil calm down everything'll be okay," I told him.

"Really? The fact that we're trapped in a psycho killers basement. Yeah, sure everything'll be okay," Dilon said, sarcastically.

"There's probably another way out on the other side of the basement," I reassured him.

"Shh," Dilon said."Did you hear that?"

     "What," I whispered.

"I thought I heard something down there," Dilon said."Lets just hurry and get out of here."

We went back down into the creepy basement. We stood so close to each other it was almost as if we were inseparable. The dead bodies still lay lifeless on the floor, and the blood continued lingering. I held my breath as we strolled past the bodies. We both broke our bond from each other so we wouldn't step on the bodies.

I dodged over them, shining the light on the ground to see where I was going.

     "Dilon," I whispered.

I hadn't heard his footsteps. I looked beside me, and he wasn't there.

     Psst.

     I heard.

I looked around to see Dilon hiding in a closet.

"What are you doing?" I asked, puzzled.

"Come here, turn the light off," he told me."Hurry."

I turned the light off. I quickly came over to him. He cracked the door open enough so I could fit in. Dilon closed the door, and I couldn't see him, due to the darkness, but I could hear his panicked voice.

"I think I saw something peeking its head out from behind a corner in the distance," Dilon spoke."I think it was the same white face from earlier."

Our hearts plopped to the ground when we saw a red light illuminating the floor from under the door. I could see Dilon kinda. We stood still, not moving an inch. I felt something light touch my shoulder. I looked over at Dilon and he continued standing still.

I felt it again, but this time something touched my neck. I was still staring at Dilon when it happened. His hands never moved. I turned my head around leisurely. Nothing was there that I could see.

It happened again, but this time I turned my head quickly behind me. I saw an arm going back into the darkness of a top shelf. Dilon looked at me perplexed. I moved closer to Dilon. He looked towards where I was gazing at.

Rattling came from the top shelf. Dilon and I both looked at each other. I grabbed for the closet door and grabbed Dilons wrist. I opened the door rapidly, and we sprinted out.

     "Ah!" Dilon shrieked.

A chain choked Dilon around his neck, yanking him back into the closet. I raced back to him. Dilon was squirming around gasping for air, trying to pull the chain from his neck. I shined the light back on, so I could see better. We both tugged on the chain.

I glanced up to see the same thing that we saw in one of the rooms upstairs. My clammy hands were hurting from all the pulling. I threw the phone aggressively at the figure's face. Then jerked the chain roughly from around Dilons neck. I pulled Dilon up, he was choking.

He caught his breath, then we took off further into the basement. I didn't know where the phone went when I threw it. But there was a red light filling the entire basement.

"There has to be a way out down this way," I stated.

     "Lets just hurry," Dilon said.

We looked around, our heads spinning.

     "Bro," Dilon whispered."Over here."

Dilon pointed towards something. I rushed over. There were three stairs that led up to a double door. Dilon pulled the handles. The doors were locked.

Dilon gave out a low sigh of dispiritment. I peeped through a crack in the door. There it was, the outside. I didn't want anything but to go home. I looked away from the crack, to notice that Dilon was gone.

     "Dilon," I murmured.

     Bump.

     Something went in a corner.

I looked over, and it was Dilon. He had a small slab of wood in his hands. He rushed over with it. He signaled for me to move out of the way.

"We have to get out of here one way," he said.

"Dil, what if they hear us?" I questioned.

"We have no other choice, it's either back down the dead body hallway or through this door," he stated.

Dilon walked up the stairs and viciously slammed the slab into the door. He continued doing it, no matter how ear thumping it was. I was so nervous that my legs were trembling, almost as if it was cold.

     Bam!

The wood went when hitting the door.

I grabbed onto the wood and helped Dilon. I examined behind me to see both of the masked figures coming closer.

"Come on, please open," I said.

     Bam!

     The door burst open.

I looked back behind me, and both the things were walking faster.

     "Go!" I yelled.

I pushed Dilon. He scurried quickly out the doors, and I followed. We ran faster than a bullet. I did manage to glance back. From what I saw, the figures stood stiffly at the doors, just looking expressionless at us.

I didn't care though, as long as we were safe. We finally made it to the pavement where all the other houses were. We halted, our whole bodies were tired.

"I don't think they can get us now," Dilon spoke.

"Those kids," I said."They're still there."

"Look we could just call the cops," Dilon insisted.

     Hahaha!

     Someone went.

We quickly turned our heads. Someone was at the street light on the other side of the street. We couldn't make out a face.

"Boys, don't you want your candy?" It asked.

It put its head up and we immediately knew who it was. The same crazy hair and extremely tall height. It was the lady that invited us into her house. She walked closer and we walked further away.

"Hope you boys loved the house," she said weirdly.

She smiled and nothing but red was on her teeth. Red oozed out of her mouth like drool. We began charging down the sidewalk. We didn't look back once. All I could hear in my ears were her grim laugh.

We ran all the way to my house, not stopping. We made it there safely. My mother said she was calling my phone nonstop. We told my mom everything. We even called the police and told them everything.

We gave them where the place was located, what the lady and masked figures looked like. The police went over there and yes there was the same lady. When they searched, there were no dead bodies, kids, or things with masks on. Dilons parents came and picked him up. I was afraid the rest of the night.

Her horrifying laugh still lingers in my mind. The terror still traumatizes me till this day.
