Chapter 8

Augustus couldn't understand, he was born from the illustrious Bellthorne family. Everyone in the barony was under his father, and he would one day take that position as well. His father expressed disappointment to him today, unhappy with the way that he had performed.

"No matter how good they are at their natural elements, you should always be able to beat them with your bloodline ability Augustus," Darion spoke sternly. "We are the Bellthornes, we may not have the best bloodline ability, but we have enough power to be nobles."

After having to face his father's disappointment, Augustus soon had to face his mother's sharp words. "I cannot believe you!" she cried out hysterically. "Can't you see that your father spends less and less time with me? Please, Augustus, if you don't do better we'll be isolated. Especially seeing that whore Mallory gain even more of Darion's attention after getting a baby. Go and practice, don't you dare come in third after today."

Augustus left his mother's chambers sniffling, he regained his composure eventually and headed for the training grounds. His mother's personal butler followed after him, "Young master, please understand the baroness. She is worried for you and her own position." Augustus nodded slightly before asking the butler to get a sparring partner for him.

The twins arrived at the training grounds and saw the soldiers serving Darion being taught by the instructors there. Noticing the two children walking side by side some of the soldiers stopped what they were doing and watched the two. "Why are they looking at us?" Arthur asked. "Arthur, use your head, we're the only kids here," Louis replied.

They soon reached a cage where several soldiers were sparring with one another, because there were no spots open within the cage, the two sat outside and watched. Two soldiers, in particular, stood out, one of the soldiers wielded a longsword while the other was wielding a one-handed sword with a small circular shield.

The longsword-wielding soldier let out a shout while switching from an overhead swing into an underhand one, while doing so the dirt below him quickly shot up to his arm forming into a pillar accelerating his swing. The other soldier was caught off guard but managed to put up his circular shield that seemed to have something that absorbed most of the impact. He was knocked backwards when another pillar shot up from behind him putting a stop to his movement.

"Damn, I lost," the one with a circular shield spat out while breathing heavily. The soldiers around them laughed while some grimly handed several coins to other soldiers. "I told you to bet on me you idiots," the soldier with the longsword said while booming with laughter.
