Chapter 26- Exciting Chores

Blake and I started to walk out and as he got ready to go to his office I gave him a quick kiss before any maid walked in. I looked into his eyes, feeling like i'm being pulled into him. His lips ever so soft and gentle, how I wish today was our day off so we can spend the day in bed.

I kept staring at him until I lost his sight.

"Staring at master Blake are we?" i heard a voice over my shoulder. I stumbled forward and turned around and saw that it was the maid that was going to help me.

"N-no, I was admiring the cleaning" I stuttered.

"Well the cleaning wouldn't have made your face all red" she smiled and turned around. I covered my face in embarrassment and peeking through my fingers I walked to the counter.

Every maid and butler was assigned a partner to make jobs easier. There are nineteen maids working here, including me, we exclude Charlotte's maid because her job is to specifically take care of Charlotte. About half the maid workers are mature women and the other half are inexperienced girls in their early and mid twenties. I am the youngest here, so i was paired with the most experienced, most mannered and most fancy lady in the manor.

A 48 year old lady named Maria, according to Blake she was one of the first maids to be here and has been the most loyal one. She teaches me to cook and clean and even shows me some neat tricks in cooking.

Today we will be making pork smoked with hickory chips, mashed potatoes and yellow rice. These foods are very different from what I ate back at my old home. My mother and I used to eat rice with steamed veggies, like carrots, potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower and occasionally some chicken on the side. I really miss her and I wish I could have her with me once more.

Maria and I began cooking the lunch meal, we gracefully danced around the kitchen, adding spices and condiments to the food, making sure it tastes as good as it looks.

"Too much salt makes you loose interest in a dish, too little salt does the same, you have to add the perfect amount to make it tastes wonderful" she explained while dancing around.

"Yes, sadly I already know that secret" I smiled.

"Same thing goes for a relationship, the adequate amount of saltiness makes it mouth watering and keeps you craving ror more" she giggled while dancing next to me.

I stumbled back and took in the words she said, I had never thought of it in that way. Many things in a relationship, like anger, jealousy, lust and other emotions, are like salt. You have to keep an adequate measurement of each to keep the relationship going and to not lose interest in it.

I thanked her for her words of advice as we kept dancing around the kitchen preparing the meal. It felt almost as if I was with my mother, this brought back so much happy memories.

After I was done helping out with the lunch meal I made my way to the bedroom to start cleaning there. Blake likes to keep his windows open and all that pesky dust gets blown inside. As I started dusting the room I got lost in the beautiful view of the mountains and villages. According to the villagers the mountains are evergreen, even the coldest peaks have some sort of life form in them. Everything was peaceful, I think I had finally found peace.
