Dos and Don'ts

"So, you see Red, this is all fucked up as shit clogged in the toilet." Archer commented.

"Oi you stupid flower boy, I'm squeamish!" Red interjected. "Ugh… Now I don't have appetite for this pizza."

"Might I suggest a cold can of beer instead, future queen?" he offered her his half-way finished can. "You look good on that tank top by the way."

"Shut up Archer!" She replied. No way will she accept THAT can of beer. His, his, his, l-l-lips just touched that! And did he just compliment her out of nowhere?

"There are also some things you need to understand with regards to the rules of the Seven Trials." Ari said to break the two children bickering.

"Ok, hit me." She said and quite suddenly she felt a light slap on her bare shoulder. She turned and it was none other than Archer whose hand was inches away from her.

"What? You asked for it." He jokingly said.

One second Archer had been happily chugging his beer, next thing they knew the cold beer in Archer's hand boiled and erupted like a geyser. The drink splashed onto Archer's face and ultimately soaking his top making the thin cloth stick, displaying a well-built body of muscles and abs.

Red didn't intend for that to happen but it did. Even Ari was shocked with Red's sudden outburst.

"Ok children enough of this! Archer get out." Ari told him off.

"But this is my apartment!" he argued. His older brother just glared at him. "Fine. You all are so boring."

He moseyed towards the fridge and got another can of beer, then like a child stomped his feet and slammed the door shut.

"Don't you dare make miracles inside my room!" he shouted from the outside.

Red who was angry one moment felt utterly embarrassed instantaneously.

For the first time since she met Ari, she felt really uncomfortable with just the two of them inside a small room.

"Sorry about that. Archer's a bit of a child but he's way older than you think. We both are." He apologized.

He moved closer to Red and she unconsciously wrapped her arms around her body.

Ari noticed her unusual reaction and realized what she was scared of and actually chuckled.

"Oh, Red don't worry about what Archie said. We won't be making miracles here. We aren't allowed to." He said as he retreated to appease her apprehension.

"The Faey Queen isn't allowed to have romantic ties to anyone especially her warrior." He explained.

"So rest assured I won't even try to attack you in whatever way you can imagine."

"Oh…" was all Red could say. She tried to hide her embarrassment by pulling her curls to her face and mentally burying herself.

"Let me elaborate the seven most important things which the Faey Court and Queen Tiana herself instructed us warriors when we were chosen for our queen candidate." He magically produced a golden papyrus out of nowhere and read what was written unto it:

THE FAEY TRIALS: SEVEN RULES TO ABIDE

1. The Faey Queen shall cast a spell on her chosen candidates which she only knows who. The spell will activate the awakening of the candidate when the time is right.

2. The candidate shall awake on her own pace. Any attempt to force awakening shall either result in her insanity, the warrior's death, or both.

3. The warrior and candidate shan't have any sort of romantic and/or carnal relationship. Love is an unnecessary emotion for a queen.

4. A warrior must not die before his queen candidate. If by chance he does, the candidate shall automatically be disqualified for the crown. As future queen, it is her duty to protect the kingdom from animosities, if she cannot protect one person, she isn't worthy of any crown.

5. Once the first trial commences, the ritual battle for the crown will have officially begun. Any injuries and/or death that arise between opposing candidates shall be considered lawful as per the Faey Codex.

6. The golden pocket watch will be the candidate's guide. When flower buds on the vines start to bloom, a new trial is at hand. Follow the clock's direction with caution.

7. It will be the duty of the warrior to assist his candidate with everything she will need. Be it during the trials or any activities in between that shall need any assistance.

Failure to abide all rules above shall be punishable by elimination, banishment, and/or death as deemed by the Queen and Faey Courts.

"End of instructions." Ari said in a monotonous tone. "Any questions? Here you can have this."

Red took the golden papyrus and inspected the print. It was written in a language she can't really read but when she touched the embossed characters, she jolted as it was as if everything came to life and she could 'see' the words written unto them. The queen choosing five candidates, the spell that marked them, the warriors, a forbidden affair, the golden watch, a lover. Wait, some of the flashes aren't related.

"All of the Faeys had no idea who Queen Tiana had chosen as candidates when she proclaimed her prophecy. Up until the candidates started to awaken." Her warrior said.

"Do you know who are the other candidates? The other warriors, were you gathered before we were chosen?" she asked him as she rolled the papyrus and set it aside.

"No, I have no intel on who the other candidates are nor the identities of the other warriors. I was summoned by Queen Tiana thru dreams much as how you awoke."

"So you experienced the headaches and flashing visions as well?" she prodded.

"Not as painful as yours had been, I was prepared and prayed to be a chosen warrior."
