A Shocking Turn of Events

A cloaked figure sat at the principal's desk and lightning struck out of nowhere. The shadow of his cloak covered most of his face. Sweat dripped down Marinette's face as all of the memories came flooding back into her mind. Adrien stepped in front of her and clenched his fists. They could make out a smile on the man's face. "What do you want?" Adrien said in a shaky voice. The man rose in his chair to a towering height. His deep menacing voice rang out, "When the sun sets in the west and the birds go to sleep. Vengeance will peak on the streets of Pari." All of a sudden, a pigeon flew into the room and made a squawking noise at a disturbingly accurate moment. This caused Marinette and Adrien to jump and cling onto each other. Then with a sudden backwards movement, the cloaked man leaped out of the window. Marinette and Adrien rushed to see where he had gone but only saw his cloak blowing in the wind. They looked at each other baffled at what had just happened. Just then a crazed looking principle Damocles came running into the room with his hair disheveled. Marinette and Adrien turned to see him, and he stopped in his tracks. "What happened principal Damocles?" Marinette asked with concern. "Oh Marinette, Adrien, it's good to see that your back at school. I woke up in a closet. I'm not sure how I got there." Marinette could guess what happened but didn't want to alarm the man any further since he had a tendency to be reckless. "Anyways I can imagine you two have a lot of explaining to do on what happened last week." He motioned for them to sit down and they did. "So, Marinette, we all know that you are Ladybug and that explains a lot as far as your attendance goes. What brought you two here today?" Adrien explained why Mrs. Mendeleev sent them to the principal's office. "You should know better Adrien Agreste. I can see that you two are a distraction to each other and will have to sit apart till you are able to control yourselves." Adrien and Marinette wilted, "Please Mr. Damocles, give us another chance." Adrien said trying to give him the innocent eyes. "My word is final. You two can sit together again after this week and Marinette stay behind, I need to talk to you." Adrien glanced at Marinette and she motioned for him to leave. "I'll see you later." He said walking out of the room. "So, Marinette now that I know your ladybug as well as everyone in the school, I will need to discuss some rules with you." He said. "Mr. Damocles, you know that I have to be available to stop supervillains if they were to attack." Marinette said. "I know you're Paris' protector Marinette but that doesn't mean I can have you running around signing autographs for all the students, so I must inform you that you cannot be Ladybug during school hours unless there is a real emergency, no excuses." "That's not fair! Just because I'm Ladybug doesn't mean I would try and show off during class." The principal didn't find this response satisfactory. "I'm not saying you will Marinette, but since other people know your Ladybug it changes things a bit so you will have to be more careful about how you act around others." Marinette slouched in her chair. Why do things have to be so hard now? She thought.

Later that day after school Adrien and Marinette went out to walk by the river. They held hands as they walked and discussed the day. "That cloaked man has been following us and we need to know why." Marinette said. "Master Fu was pretty upset with us. Do you think that has anything to do with it?" Adrien thought. Marinette never thought that Master Fu meant them any harm since he was their friend, but it was possible based on his recent behaviors. "Let's not jump to any conclusions but it is possible that Master Fu could be behind this." Marinette said. They hung out for the rest of the day and Marinette headed back home. When she arrived, she found her parents with a feast awaiting her. "What is this for?" Marinette asked with confusion. "Marinette, we thought we had lost you forever and this is a celebration feast!" Sabine said. Marinette noticed that there was a ladybug theme to the feast. "And since my daughter is the superheroine of Paris, I thought we would stick to the ladybug theme." Tom said winking. Marinette gave her parents a big hug. "I don't know what I would do without you." She said smiling. They enjoyed dinner together and Marinette went up to her room to get ready for bed. Marinette was happy now that her life could begin to go back to normal and Adrien could be with her. But after this night, everything changed.
