Chapter 14: Healing

By the time my pack had found me, by listening for my howls, I had fallen asleep. I was so exhausted that I could no longer hold onto my wolf form and phased back. I fell asleep naked, but my ware wolf temperature kept me comfortable from the damp forest ground. The rest of the pack carried me back, and I tried my best not to think about them seeing me naked. The strenuous run had put me in a coma like sleep. This time I didn't wake up feeling paralyzed and shaking. I finally woke up calm and content.

Jacob had called Addison to let her know that I wasn't feeling well so I finally decided to skip school that day. I may also skip two more days. Addison normally isn't someone who gets angry very easily, but she was pissed because she felt like I was avoiding her. I was but only for her safety. She wanted to know why I was back at the reservation instead of meeting her first. I wanted to see her and Kayla too, but I had become so sensitive that even Jake's teasing me every now and then put me on the verge of phasing. I did not want Addison and Kayla to see me explode into a gigantic growling wolf. I explained to her over the phone that I'm fine and that I just wanted to spend more time with Jake before he had to go back to college. That's why I came to the reservation with him. Addison understood and let me stay at the reservation for two more days.

The encounter last night had left me with two deep wounds. One on my back and one on my neck. Both were from Katherine. Sam told me that since I am still new to being a ware wolf, my wounds will take a bit longer to heal than the rest of my pack members. They would heal in about an hour. Mine would take about half a day.

While the rest of the pack had gone to hunt, Emily (Sam's girlfriend) stayed with me. We talked for bit and I got to know a lot about her and the pack. How she and Sam met.

"So you got into a fight with that vampire crush of yours huh?" She asked.

"Yeah, but she's not a crush anymore. I kinda want to rip her up into shreds" the res of my sentence came out very acidic.

"Anyways, I have to go run some errands, but I could call some company for you"

"Nah I'm good, the rest can hunt. I'll be fine"

"Oh no, I'm talking about bringing Bella over."

I stared at her stunned.

"Bella? Bella Swan? But isn't she-"

"She knows" Emily interrupted."

"Wha-how? How did she-" was all I could say.

"Jacob told her. Before he imprinted on Leah, he had a huge crush on Bella. He wanted to be honest with her so he told her everything. Bella has promised not to say a word about our existence. Sam trusts her."

I let Emily's words sink in.

"So, she can come over now?" I asked.

"Yup! You me to call her?"

I thought for a second before answering "yes, that sounds great"

"Alright then, I'll go give her a call."

With that she walked away to another room.

I decided to listen in with my heightened hearing. Emily dialed a number and the receiving phone rang twice before being answered. I heard Bella's voice chirp a hello on the other end. Emily returned the greeting and casually proceeded to explain how I had recently phased and got into some brawl with a vampire. I am a bit injured and could use some company now. Since school for Bella had ended for the day, she said she could come. The two of them then exchanged goodbyes and the call ended. Emily put the phone down and came back to my room.

"Good news, Bella will be coming over in just a bit. I need to leave now, so will you be ok alone?" She asked.

"Yeah yeah, I'll be fine."

"The door will be unlocked so she can come in"

"Yeah, thats fine"

Emily said goodbye and left. I sat in bed for a few minutes. The warm sunlight shone through the window beside me. The entire setting made me feel calm. I don't know when, but at some point I fell asleep. When I awoke, I felt something on me. Something soft and warm. A familiar scent drifted to my nose. Bella? I looked down to see her familiar reddish brown hair sprawled over my chest. He hand caressed my bare chest. Her fingers trailed up and down my body. I should've felt uneasy with her suddenly laying on top of me, but I felt very pleasurable. The feeling of her hands trailing down her body set me aflame. My new ware wolf senses made me want to turn feral and devour her in a passionate way. I wanted to lay still and feel her on me, but she was irresistible. My hands automatically reached up. One hand went to her waist. The other one brushed the hair away from her face so I could see her better.

Bella's eyes snapped open and she looked up at me. She blushed a lovely color and quickly scrambled to sit up. I too sat up.

"You woke up" she said no louder than a whisper.

"I missed you" I gazed at her chocolatey brown eyes.

She gazed back. Her eyes were intense.

"I missed you too"

She was going to say something more, but then she looked down at her hands and blushed. I then noticed something glistening on her cheek. A tear. She was crying.

"What's wrong?" Her pain jabbed me through the heart.

She blushed even more and more tears trickled down her face. The image was agonizing. I reached over and gently pulled her close to me. I thought she would resist, but it felt as if she gave in to me, as if some barrier inside her broke. I pulled he into my chest. The wound on my back burned from my movement, but I didn't care. I caressed her face with one hand. Then without thinking, I stroked her lip with the tip of my finger. I sighed and Bella trembled from pleasure.

"What did those vampires do to you? Did they hurt you a lot?" Of course this was Bella's question. She must've been crying because of my pain.

Though I hated to see her cry, I felt happy that she cared so deeply for me.

"Bella, I am hurt because I attacked a vampire. She was trying to defend herself and these small wounds are the result. I did much more damage to her than she did to me." I said proudly, almost smug.

"Ugh! But why did you have to get in a fight anyways? Vampires are strong and you are still new at being a ware wolf. You could've been... killed" her voice broke at the last word.

"But I'm fine, Bella" I reassured her.

"And I hope it stays that way" she sniffled.

I chuckled and pulled her chin up to look at me. Her brown eyes melted into mine the moment they met. Her brushed away the tears from her face. Then I looked over her lips. They were red and full of blood and so lovely. How would it feel to press my lips onto hers. Her face was at the perfect for me to kiss her. Oh how I wanted to just dive in and devour her mouth. But I didn't. I didn't want to startle her. Instead, I closed my eyes and pressed my forehead to her's.

"Bella" I whispered.

"Noah" she whispered back. The way she said my name sent shivers down my spine.

Then to ruin the mood my stomach grumbled. I growled from frustration and embarrassment. Bella giggled and got off of me. I wanted to hold her tight but that might hurt her.

"Looks Emily forgot to feed the dog!" Bella laughed.

I couldn't help but laugh with her.

"I skipped dinner last night, I am kinda starving now"

"Let me get you some food then. I hope you won't mind my cooking, it's not as high quality as Emily's."

I still remembered Bella's cooking from the last time I went to her house. Her food was amazing.

"Oh please, we both know that you are a great cook"

Bella laughed and pecked me on the cheek. Then she got up and walked towards the kitchen. I sat in bed for a few seconds before getting up and following after her. While I walked, the pants I wore, which were Jared's, started to slip off. Thankfully they were sweatpants so I tightened the strings. Bella got to work by gathering all her materials for a sandwich.

"I would make you something more, but I don't know if Emily has other plans for some of the ingredients."

"Whatever you make I know I'll love it" while I murmured, I traced a finger over her lips.

Her breath trembled.

"You are hungry, I should start cooking"

Bella unwillingly moved away from me and began to cook.

I leaned against the counter and watched her move around the kitchen. She was wearing a blue t-shirt and shorts. I had never before seen Bella in shorts. Her alabaster skin looked looked lovely against the blue denim.

When she had finished, she brought fifteen sandwiches over to the dining table. I snarfed down thirteen and somehow managed to spare her two. My, had my appetite grown. After we finished we retired back to the bedroom. I laid down and Bella laid beside me. We spoke for a while. Bella's fingers kept tracing shapes on my bare chest. The feeling of her touch made me feel very comfortable. So comfortable that at some point I dosed off again.

Then my dreams took over. They started off with dark shapes lurking around. Then Another dark shape approached me. I remembered this dream. Everything about this feline shape was similar to the last time I woke up having one of my "episodes." Only this time, the eyes of the female figure weren't black, they were a lovely chocolatey brown.
