Chapter 7

It's been a month since the Carnivore Forest incident. Since then Milly and I have been through a lot and we have come very close. I also found out what he was hiding from me. Apparently her own mother abandoned her, let her die and left with a band of bandits. "I hope you die," were her mother's last words. After abandoning her, she reached the Carnivorous Forest, where she was swallowed by that carnivorous plant. Now Milly was much happier and didn't even think about her mother. "She was much more open, she sang, she helped me with the supplies. I found out about her that she has a passion for butterflies. Whenever she saw a butterfly running after her, she admired the colors of her wings. She knew a lot about butterflies." "Types of butterflies. I got to know everything about butterflies. I had given Milly a camera with which she always took pictures of butterflies. After I gave her this camera, it opened completely for me, and she told me "I had somehow become the older brother she wanted, and she became the sister I always wanted. Last month I saw a lot of places. I passed a swamp, I passed again through a forest where there was only one species of tree And as they looked, they looked old, with a very thick stem and very branching. Five years ago, when I passed by, as far as I can remember, the trees in the given forest were all young. I could not find any logical explanation for what happened to these trees in these five years. It must have been the soil, I had no idea. After crossing the forest, the strangest river I saw appeared in my way. The river flowed from the north, to the south, in the circumstances in which the relief was inclined to the north. That said, the river flowed down the hill. An unusual force allowed the water to have this direction, as if it had to be. Where we were, the river was very wide, and in the middle were many stone rocks, covered with moss, and of various shapes. I was lucky that clusters of trees grew on the banks of the river, and thicker ones were among them. I felled one of the trees, whose roots stretched under the water, and passed over it, just as I did in the Carnivorous Forest when I was chased by those carnivorous plants. After crossing the river, we continued to go on and even came across 2 wounded people, whom we quickly killed with the help of the mole car.

The days passed unexpectedly fast. I hadn't even noticed how a month had passed, the journey being quite quiet. The landscapes perished one after the other, and I always let myself be absorbed by the beauty and tranquility emanating from these landscapes. I was sorry I couldn't enjoy their beauty more. But there's nothing I can do. I have to get to the City of Wishes as soon as possible.

It was October 25th. It was a cool autumn morning. Until a few days ago, Milly and I slept outside. We lit a fire and lay down looking at the endless ocean of bright stars. But suddenly the weather got colder, and we couldn't sleep outside anymore. I woke up exhausted, my body numb and weak. My mouth was dry and very thirsty. You could hardly lift me up in a sitting position, and then he made me dizzy. I've never slept so badly because of the sudden change in the weather. Eventually I regained my senses and made a tea from some plants I had found and dried. I added some bee honey and the tea was ready. On cool mornings, a cup of tea is only good and warms even your soul.

Due to the cold weather, Milly and I started dressing in thicker clothes. We were both dressed in white wool sweaters and pants made of hemp. I think you're wondering where I got these clothes from. While living in the Valley, our small group of people raised several animals, including sheep. We were lucky to come across these animals while exploring the Valley. Among the people in the valley was Helda, a woman in her 50s who, with her skilful hands, made clothes from sheep's wool. He even showed us how to process hemp so we could make clothes out of it. Helda was extremely good at such things, and so I chose several clothes made by her, clothes for all possible sizes. On the morning of October 25, Milly and I drank tea, dressed in wool sweaters.

-Hey Alnert.

-Yes, Milly. What happened?

-When will we reach the pit that separates us from the City of Wishes?

-If we continue to go as we have done so far, we will get there around the end of winter, only if no other obstacles appear.

"Let's hope they don't show up." I can't wait for spring and then summer to see as many butterflies as possible.

-Mainly. Then we will be in the City of Wishes, I said with confidence.

In vain did Milly and I hope for this, for only a day after Milly had said those words did the greatest obstacle appear in our way. Due to the rocky weather and fog, I had not seen from afar that a mountain range would appear in front of me. It was said to reach the pit that separates us from the City of Wishes until the end of winter. It is impossible to travel by car mole through this mountain range, called the Cartuvi Mountains. There was a huge strait in these mountains, but it disappeared. It would take me 6 months to surround them, while if I walked further, I would have a hard time moving and despite the obstacles, it would take me 4 months. But there are high chances of overcoming many dangers, such as a horde of wounded, and the chances of getting through the minds, looking for a safe path, are small. I can't even get into the mountains now. In front of me is just a wall of rocks, and digging into it would take me forever. I came to a standstill. Every day is precious when it comes to getting to the pit that separates me from the City of Wishes, but I can't endanger Milly's life just because of my selfish desires.

I started moving south. Why south and not north? Well, let me tell you. I took a bird feather and threw it from a height of 2 meters. When the feather landed on the ground, the tip of the feather pointed south. So I chose the south. Whatever it is. I have no way of knowing if I made the right choice, but I really hope he is chosen well this time. I just hope to find a path through the mountains now that I'm moving further south.
