At the same time, unlike their faes counterpart, who not only have a near immortality life span but also a very slow aging process, seers would not get any younger and with old age came more problems with keeping up with the fight scene.

Out of the blue, a sound of someone clearing its throat cut through my line of thought and when I turned my head to the direction where it was coming, I saw Cassie with her head tilted on one side and eyes narrowed while looking at me as if she was trying to read me but could not.

If not for Cassie trying to get my attention again, I would not realize that I had fallen into a trance already. I did not know how long I was out in a daze but I quickly recovered my composure.

"But I am not a slayer of anything. I am just a normal girl working a normal job in a coffee shop to earn a living."

I seconded her but to my surprise, she raised her voice on me!

I rose to my feet right after saying that and pretended like I was ready to leave. Yet before I could even take a step away from our table, Cassie already pulled the hem of my shirt to stop me.
