CHAPTER 24

PYRRHA NIKOS POV

She stood up as soon as she heard the screams in the distance and readied her weapons in order to fight any Grimm that might have attacked those screaming students.

But there was something else she was worried about.

"Jaune! JAUNE!!"

"I'm here." He said as he came out of the forest and looked at the place where the screams were coming from "What happened?"

"We don't know. But we should go and check." She said. Judging by the screams a group of students might be in some serious trouble.

"I'll go ahead and check up on them." Ruby said and was about to use her semblance but Jaune stepped in front of her and stopped her. "What?" Ruby asked.

"If those students are dealing with a grimm that they can't deal with then this might be serious. You're the fastest among us. Go and call for Professor Goodwitch. We might need her help."

Ruby frowned.

She could see that the girl wanted to go and help the students but she also respected Jaune. Plus, he was their leader.

In the end Ruby decided to listen to him and left to go and find Professor Goodwitch.

"All of you. Follow me." Jaune said as he took out his sword from it's sheath and prepared his shield "Stay together in case we run across a Grimm that we can't fight on our own. Now let's go!"

She followed Jaune and noticed that team LBVY was following his lead as well. Mostly because Ren himself had stayed quiet throughout the ordeal.

Ren might be level headed and a usually calm person but at times like these, she wondered if he was cut out to play the role of a leader.

She shook those thoughts out of her mind and focused on following Jaune who was running slower than usual for some reason. He was probably being cautious and wanted them to stay together.

Then they heard loud roars coming from the same direction they were running toward.

"That sounded like an Ursa." Ren said in a calm voice.

"Hah! Here's your chance to collect some Ursa Rug Nora." Jaune said in a strained voice as they finally reached the clearing where the screams were coming from.

The sight that met them, wasn't good.

Team CRDL was being attack by half a dozen Ursa.

The largest Ursa had caught Cardin by his leg and was throwing him around like a Rag doll. If Cardin's aura broke then he'll be seriously injured and might even die.

And why were the members of team CRDL not fighting back.

She narrowed her eyes and saw the cause for their inaction and screams.

The numerous sting bites in the faces and other parts of the body.

They were being attacked by rapier wasps.

Before she could think of anything else, Jaune started to give orders.

"Ren. Fire at the largest Ursa and gain it's attention. Nora. Pull Cardin to a safe distance and then help Ren deal with the largest Ursa." Jaune said before he turned toward them "Weiss. Give us support fire. Yang, Pyrrha. With me!"

With that, he let out a roar and charged into the fray, bashing the first Ursa with his shield and throwing it away from Sky Lark's unconscious and bleeding body.

She cringed as she saw the crushed legs of the boy and hoped that he'll recover but she didn't have anymore time to think as she joined the fight and stabbed Milo into the eye of the Ursa Jaune had just shield bashed.

The Ursa let out a ghastly scream before it fell down and start decomposing into black smoke.

Jaune gave her a nod and moved forward while Yang joined the fight against the Ursa that was attacking Dove Bronzewing.

She followed Jaune and watched as he blocked the Ursa's attack without so much as a grunt. She took advantage of the Ursa's distraction and attacked it's flank, leaving deep cuts in it's neck.

The Ursa roared in pain and turned to attack her but it's attack was fouled as Jaune shield bashed it, throwing it to the ground.

Before she could attack the Ursa again, Jaune moved forward and buried his sword in the Ursa's neck to the hilt.

"Nice work Jaune." She said.

Jaune nodded, looking a bit surprised at his kill as well before he pulled himself together and moved on to the next Ursa.

After fighting with him for a while, she quickly understood that even if he wasn't a great fighter, he made for an excellent tank with his high level Strength and Aura reserves.

And while he tanked the hits from the Ursa and made them focus on himself, she attacked from the flank and either killed or highly injured them with a single strike.

From her peripheral vision, she saw Nora and Ren finally finish off the largest Ursa before they joined the battle against the last three Ursa as well.

The remaining Ursa didn't last much longer after that.

And in the wake of her first tag team with alongside Jaune, they were left with half a dozen rapidly decomposing Grimm bodies and four heavily injured classmates.

Then Jaune turned and ran toward Sky Lark who was bleeding profusely from the numerous wounds on his body as well as his crushed legs.

Yeah. That definitely didn't look good.

She would surprised if the doctors are able to save his legs after this.

The boy would either have to leave school and retire from the whole Hunter business or buy Prosthetic legs.

Jaune reached the boy and put a hand on his chest.

A moment later, Jaune started pouring his Aura in the boy and the unconscious boy started to glow as his Aura Reserves were filled by Jaune.

She watched in fascination as Sky Lark's wounds healed on the spot.

His legs were still crushed but the boy wasn't in any danger of dying anymore.

"Bring the others over here!" Jaune shouted and she and the others quickly followed his order and put the rest of team CRDL beside Sky Lark and then watched with baited breaths as Jaune empowered the others with his own Aura.

"What's going on here?" she heard a stern voice and turned to see that Professor Glynda Goodwitch had finally arrived on the scene along with Ruby.

"Professor. These students need medical attention." Jaune said before he pointed at Sky Lark's crushed legs "This one especially."

Professor Goodwitch took a look at the unconscious members of team CRDL and then with a wave of her crop, all four members slowly rose from the ground and started floating behind the Professor.

"All of you. Return to the Bullheads asap. Tell the other students to do so as well." Professor Goodwitch ordered and then she turned and left with team CRDL.

"Well. What are you guys waiting for. Let's go." Jaune said as he started moving toward the Bullheads and she quickly followed behind him.
