JAUNE ARC POV

"We surrender." The team they were supposed to fight said and laid down their weapons.

He sighed.

This was the third time such a thing has happened.

5 matches in the preliminary rounds and they've won four by now. One by defeating team SSSN in a brutal and decisive manner and the other three by their opponents surrendering to them.

It was not like he had any problem with the opponents surrendering. But the public liked a match. Pyrrha wanted a match even if she didn't personally participate in it.

Knowing that their opponents would surrender even without fighting made her sad for some reason.

Maybe it was because she was a true Hunter at heart.

Even Weiss managed to look disappointed this time and Ruby… poor girl was pouting once again.

He nodded at the other team and herded his team away from the area.

"This is totally unfair." Ruby complained once they were seated back in their seats in the stadium.

The next match was a team from Vacuo vs a team from Beacon. A team of his own classmates that were… mediocre at best.

He didn't even know how and why they were able to participate in this tournament.

He would've suspected them of being spies if they weren't being beaten so badly by the Vacuan team.

"It is." Weiss agreed "After this, there's only one more round and then the tournament will move on to the next stage where only two members of our team will fight."

She didn't say who those team members will be as they all knew that he and Pyrrha were far better at combat than Ruby and Weiss.

Except…

"We will not be participating in the next rounds Weiss." He said and the girl turned her head so fast that he feared she might get a whiplash.

She gave him an incredulous look.

"Why?" She asked.

He put an arm around Pyrrha and laid back on his chair "Because if we did, then this tournament will end without any noteworthy fights. Or to put it simply. Me and Pyrrha are… to strong to participate in this tournament. So you and Ruby will have to do this on your own."

"That doesn't make any sense. I mean, I know you two are good but…" she paused and thought of something before sighing "Okay. I don't think I've seen anyone so far who could even provide you with a challenge. And I believe that I've seen almost every match in the Vytal Tournament. But… are you sure about about this?"

"We are." He said and Ruby's pout became even worse.

"That's not fair either. You two should get your chance to fight in this tournament as well." She said.

"Perhaps Ruby. And if we were allowed to fight against our teammates then I would've definitely participate if only so that I could fight against Pyrrha." He said. "But it looks like you two will have to go ahead in our stead."

And they will win this Tournament too.

The only one who could challenge them was Penny. And she had been dismembered when Pyrrha went all out in the fight in canon. These two were much stronger now than Prryha should have been right now in canon.

If they didn't win this Tournament, he'll eat his hat.

With that said…

"Me and Pyrrha will be leaving. Weiss. Ruby." He said as he gestured for Pyrrha to follow him.

"You don't even tell us where you two go all the time." Ruby complained and he gave her an apologetic look before both of them left the stadium.

They climbed one of the transport ships and flew back to Beacon where he quickly called Neo.

Without the CCT system online, his call shouldn't reach her.

Except, this was a company device. And Neo also had a company device so there wasn't any problem in communication.

The call was picked up and he heard Raven's voice from the other side "Jaune."

"Did you find what you were looking for?"

"Not yet. But we're close." She said.

"Very well. Inform me when you find where the Winter Maiden is being kept."

With that, he cut the call and flopped down on his bed.

Pyrrha's armor changed and turned into a simple evening dress before she laid on beside him and nuzzled onto him.

"Are you sure about this Jaune?" Pyrrha asked without looking at him.

He nodded.

"The Winter Maiden is an old woman on her deathbed. She would eventually give her powers to someone else and die. I would rather that 'someone else' be one of you then some Atlesian Specialist." Or Penny.

Not that there was anything wrong with Penny. The girl was rather sweet in fact. But he also wanted his girls to survive the eventual fight against Salem. And that meant making them more powerful.

And what better way to give them power then to allow them to become Maidens.

A pity that he had no idea who the Summer Maiden was.

There were speculations in the fan base that Summer Rose was the Summer Maiden but… that's unlikely. And even if it was true, Salem killed Summer a long while ago. So that power would've gone to someone else.

They laid in silence for a moment, simply enjoying each other's company after the last few hectic days before Pyrrha spoke.

"When will we attack Salem?" she asked.

"In about 8 months." He replied.

Pyrrha blinked and looked up at him in surprise. Her emerald green eyes staring into his own.

"Why that long?" she asked

"Because that's how long it'll take for Miltia and Melanie to reach the 7th tier even if they drink 1 litre of my blood everyday." He said "Lesser if they drink more. Once you and Neo reach the 7th tier, they'll have more blood for themselves and will probably reach the 7th tier in 6 months instead of 8. But it's just speculation at this point. Thanks to the Talents I'm sharing with them and their own training under Raven and you, that time should be even shorter."

"6 months huh… We would be in the 1st term of our 2nd year by then." She said, moving her head to lay down on his chest.

"Yes." He said.

"Do we have to go to another world after this Jaune?" Pyrrha asked.

"You don't want to?" he asked in surprise.

"No no… It's just… I'll miss this place. This world. Our friends, teammates and my parents."

He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her in the head.

"It'll be alright Pyrrha. Trust me."

He didn't even point out the fact that they've yet to defeat Salem.

With how prepared they'll all be, Salem won't be able to hold a candle against them.

They'll win and he'll shroud her. He was sure of that.
