That Was Sister Xi

After eating snacks and a few minutes of resting, everyone was good to go. Unlike normal people, ability users recovered much faster and with the help of the apples that had grown in her space, the rest of the team were rejuvenated and feeling good to go.

In fact, everyone was filled with anticipation, wanting to try out their newfound strength against a strong opponent.

Lilian Mo had to give a level two crystal core to Lin Jiaojiao so that the girl could catch up to them. Everyone was relieved when the girl reached the same level as them. They also tested Lin Jiaojiao's barrier and it was proven to be twice as tough as the barrier from before.

The barrier still shattered against Mu Qingqing's strength since the girl's strength was at Level three.

The barrier cracked when Mizuki Rei tried to hit it again.

Mu Qianmo also struggled to destroy it.

Don't even mention Fu Yangzhu who could only make a dent on the barrier because his wood ability was no match against the ultimate defense.

Lilian Mo didn't participate in the test since she was obviously much stronger than Lin Jiaojiao's barrier. But still, it was already good news that Lin Jiaojiao's barrier can defend against most attacks from people of the same level. They did many more experiments such as trying to figure out the extend of Lin Jiaojiao's barrier ability.

Such as how far it could reach, how much area it could cover, and so on and so forth.

Lilian Mo had entertained asking Lu Jingren to participate because she wanted to know his level but she waved the idea away since the man didn't seem keen on joining the noisy crowd. In fact, asking about his level was merely an excuse. She just wanted to punch him atleast once in the face.

Afterward, Lilian Mo looked at each and every one of the members' faces.

"There is no free lunch in this world." She reminded them, referring to the fact that she did not hand all her level one crystal cores out of the goodness of her heart.

The others gulped when they saw her mysterious gaze.

"Lilian, I will remember this. I will repay you."

Everyone turned to Lu Jingren but upon seeing the apathetic look on his face, they turned away, not wanting to introduce their comments to the world. Never tickle a sleeping dragon.

Just now, Lu Jingren had also spoken in a mysterious way which made them wonder what he meant when he said that he would remember this.

Ehem. What did the Boss mean? is what Mizuki Rei and the boys were wondering. And what about when he said that he was going to repay Lilian Mo?

They all shivered, questioning whether it was Lilian Mo's generosity or her dauntless act of ditching the Boss on their date. On the other hand, Mu Qingqing and Lin Jiaojiao were looking at Lu Jingren as if they were staring at a rival.

'Momo is mine!'

'You only have a pretty face! Big sister Mo will definitely be my sister-in-law!'

These were the thoughts that were running in Mu Qingqing and Lin Jiaojiao's minds.

"No need." She dismissed, still feeling mildly annoyed. She would take care of him later. Right now, hunting down the half-mutant was their group's priority.

Lilian Mo was quick to ignore everyone's probing gazes. They quickly decided that it was now time to head to battle.

Zhang Youji was the one to lead the way, followed by Lu Jingren who had shared the little kid's memories. The man already knew the route and if he was acting so confident and unbothered by the fact that they were going to fight a cannibalistic monster that had killed who knows how many humans, it seemed that they really didn't have anything to worry about.

Lilian Mo, on the other hand, didn't let her guard down. Based on experience, a half mutant upgrades rapidly just like a strength-ability user. Their growth was proportionate to the number of ability users they've killed.

To them, ability users were like crystal cores. The more ability users they eat, the more they grow stronger. The same cannot be said for normal humans, but for half mutants, these flesh-eating monsters wouldn't pass an opportunity to eat fresh meat.

She wasn't sure just how many people Zhang Youji's mother had eaten but for sure, in the first three months of the apocalypse, it was probably a lot.

Lilian Mo wouldn't be surprised if that half mutant was already at Level three or it might even be at Level four. She really wondered how on earth Sister Xi managed to kill such a monster when it had remained alive for a year and a half but she also knows just how strong Sister Xi was.

A highly skilled individual who was not only ruthless but smart. That was Sister Xi.

As one of the top people on Lilian Mo's target list, she would naturally not let the woman off.
