The Reckoning (Part II)

Cathy's eyes flutter open. The grave-looking face of Luigi is the first thing that her vision grasps.

Ripples of shock spike through her veins. Her heart pounds as disbelief spreads through her. The last thing she remembers is getting inside a cop car. The last thing she remembers is freedom and liberty being at a touching distance. The sun that shone and its rays. The clear blue sky that embraced her as she stepped foot into the car. Now, it feels like it was just a dream.

She tries to move but she can't. Her body feels stiff. Like it's bound and not freed as she had hoped.

"You betrayed me, Cathy," informs Luigi as his deep voice echoes through the desolate walls of his study.

Looking at Luigi's grave facial expression, she knows it's real. His anger. His tone. How stiff she feels. How shivers of the fear spike through her spine. It's real. This is not just a nightmare. It's one she's living.
