The Ride Home

The look on Cathy's darkened face drops and the pain resurfaces in her eyes. The pain that old Cathy felt when Nathan died.

She shoots for the last time and the bullet lands in the same place it did. On the side of the bottle.

As the sound of the last shot goes off and echoes into the distance, a flashback of Nathan's screaming while being tortured surfaces in her mind. The memory is so vivid, so vivid that it feels like it's real. Like she's back in Luigi's study, hearing him scream. Her ears perk up as the sound memory of the scream rings into her earlobes. It's painful. The pain is what makes her blood freeze in such coldness.

And now that the gun is being taken away, it's all she has. The coldness. The plans of revenge. The thoughts of revenge. But, without power, without the thrill. Without the control of calling the shots.
