The Faun of Avalon

"Man!  He is super lucky!  What a guy."

"Yeah, a couple other guys weren't so lucky, but in the end, nothing beats shadow intervention."

"Too bad this guy doesn't have any."

"Idiot.  What do you think we're doing?"

The noises and snatches of conversations swirled around him making no sense at all.  He was floating in a fog of no sensation, awake but not really.

No pain, no pleasure, no nothing.

Keith tried opening his eyes.  A hazy shade of pale coalesce around his field of vision.  At least his lids worked.

Then he tried focusing in on the pale object that was before his eyes but found that the ciliary muscles of his pupils weren't functioning.  He was effectively blind.

Panic welled up.

"Hmmmmmm."  He tried to speak, but his tongue was also in the same paralyzed state.

This was bad.  Not only was he blind but he was also mute.  Thank heavens he at least still had his sense of hearing.
