The guard opened the gate and Derick went through.
At first glance everything seemed normal, the earth with the coloring a little strong, some small craters in the ground and there were no monsters in sight.
But if you looked more carefully, the strong color of the earth was blood, some were fresh because of yesterday's battle, while others were so old that they had been absorbed into the ground. And the small craters were marks from explosions.
And there were no monsters, because they don't attack the city during the day, only at night, during the day they rest, but that doesn't mean that you are safe if you enter the forest.
If Derick had arrived a little earlier, he would have seen hundreds of dead monsters, and unfortunately some humans as well.
So, slowly, Derick walked towards the forest.
The path from the gate to the forest was about 500 meters.

After a few minutes of walking, he arrived at the divider that separated the plain from the forest. The beginning of the forest had only a few trees, but the deeper you went into the forest, the denser it became.
From this point onwards it was an unknown place both to Derick and to the inhabitants of "Mountain City".
Because of various accidents, some natural and some not, the maps showing the surroundings of the city had been lost. For this reason, Derick did not want to stray too far from the city, since if he got lost it would mean his death.
"I think it is already good here" Derick stopped and used his "Eye of Hunter" skill.
Three colored figures appeared in front of Derick. The colors: white, blue and red.
Of these three, the white one was the most visible, and it was heading towards the left. It was apparently a fox.
The blue one was a little faded, you could only tell it was a large animal. It also went to the left, but a little higher up.
And the blurred red, it was just a color that went straight to the bottom of the forest.
From what Derick has studied about this skill, the colors represent the danger of the monsters.
White represents a monster of similar rank to the user; blue one rank higher. And red was at least two rank higher.
Obviously, Derick chose to follow the white figure.
As he followed the figure, the more visible it became.
Until after a few minutes it disappeared, that meant he had reached his target.
Derick slowly approached a tree and spotted his target. It really was a fox; it was in an open field and apparently looking for something to eat.
So before attacking, Derick used his "Eye of Hunter" skill.
