Chapter 5- The Unfamiliar

I walked over to my aunt in the garden. She had the family spell book in hand and was chanting to herself. I slowly approached her, since I didn’t want to disturb her.

“Take a seat.” She said with her eyes still closed.

I sat next to her and just took in how quiet it was. The fresh breeze brushing against my face. The trees and the shrubs softly rustling with the breeze. The water dripping in the fountain. Wait a minute. I never noticed these things before.

“Do hear it? All that nature gives. The tiniest sounds you often don’t hear, because you are too focused on everything that moves fast. When you just sit and listen, you hear more than you are used to.” I looked over at my aunt and her eyes were still closed.

“Even before I did not hear everything so perfectly. How am I hearing it now?” I asked confused.

“The spell I just chanted allows me to enhance your senses.”

“Okay, but why? What is all this about? What lesson should I take from this?” I asked still confused.
