I’m staring down at my cereals while thinking about what I should wear to meet up with my friends later. I’ll probably just wear something casual and comfy. Just a hoodie or a flannel with some jeans and my favourite pair of Nike Jordans. I’m glad I go to school in the UK, so I don’t have to worry about what to wear to school everyday since we have uniforms.
“Morning,” Finn says in a deep sleepy voice. “I’m so tired.”
“Morning. What were you doing last night?” I asked him.
“I stayed up ‘till 2 binge watching prison break.” Finn sat down and helped himself to some breakfast.
“Hera.” Mikey says, getting my attention. ”You’re going out today right?”
“Yeah I am. Why? Do you need something?” I asked him.
“Yeah. Can you get something for Jay. It’s his birthday tomorrow. He likes food and cars. Also loves football.”
“Okay. I’ll see what I can find.”
“Thanks Hera. You’re the best.” He says, giving me a hug.
“Hera. Hera. Hera.” Bella calls out. “Could you get me some sweets please. Since you’re going out. Please. Please Please.”
“Guys don’t bother Hera. She’s going out to spend time with her friends.” Dad says, helping me out. “Not shopping for you guys.”
“It’s okay Dad. I don’t mind.” I tell him.
“No, it’s fine. You go have fun today. I’ll take the kids out.” Dad says then taking a sip of his coffee.
“Okay.”

It’s currently 1:07. We promised to meet up at 1:30. Still got some time. I changed my mind and decided to wear something else. I was wearing a white turtleneck under a brown jumper that Amy got me for my birthday. I decided to wear my white loose jeans and some basic black doc martens. I’m always wearing hoodies, so maybe it’s time I actually put some effort in dressing.
I unplugged my phone from it’s charger and put it in my jeans pocket. Then I grabbed my purse and coat. I made my way to Finn’s room to see if he was ready and I heard someone’s car at the front.
“That’s Sam,” Finn says getting out of his room and shutting the door behind him.
“Well, let’s go then.” I said. “Dad we’re going.” I informed Dad who is doing something in the kitchen. He waved us goodbye and we went out to see Mrs. Craig’s car.
Finn got in the back seat with Sam and I went to the front seat by Sam’s mum.
“Hello twins. How are you two today? It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you Hera.” Mrs Craig or Rachel says looking at me.
“We’re fine, thank you for asking.” Finn and I said in unison. This happens sometimes. It's like some sort of twin telepathy.
“How are you Rachel?” Finn asks.
“I’m good Finn. So would your family like to come over this weekend for a barbeque? We’re also inviting the new neighbours over.” She tells us.
“Of course we would love to. Wait, you have new neighbours?” Finn asks.
“Yes, they’re moving in this evening.”
After a few minutes we were new in town and Rachel dropped us and said that she’ll pick us up at 5 or 6.
So me and the boys started waking up to McRon’s, which was my friends and I’s usual meet up place.
“Are you guys going to be there too?” I asked hoping they had changed their mind.
“Of Hera. Who doesn’t want chicken nuggets and chips for lunch?” Sam says, clearly meaning that they will be there and probably try to bother my friends.
“Please just don’t get in a fight with Amy or Mary again Samuel.”
“Don't worry Hera. I’ll make sure I look after him well this time.” Finn tells me. “He’s gonna be good today.”
I roll my eyes at the boys and get into McRon’s. Right away I saw Aya waving at me. I walk to the table where all my friends are and see that Chase, Cole and Oli are on the table next to us. Seriously? I take my seat, next to Mary.
“Did you know that they were gonna be here?” Amy asks me.
“Kinda. Finn told me on Friday. But I didn’t think they would be on the table next to us. I think that was Oli’s idea.” I tell her.
“You gonna get anything?” Mary asks me offering me some of her chicken nuggets.
“I'll go get something now.” I say, kindly rejecting her food. I know how much she loves her nuggets.
Just as I was about to get up Sam comes up to me and hands me a tray with food. I looked at him with a confused expression.
“It’s for you Hero. Why are you looking at me like that?” He asks.
“Sorry. It’s just - why did you get this for me?”
“What’s wrong with it? I got your usual, a cheeseburger, chips and coke. You don’t like this anymore?” He asked, looking a bit upset.
“No, that’s not it. Thank you for ordering for me, but why did you? I could’ve done it myself.”
“And let you wait in that long line? Nah. I just saved you time. You can pay me back by treating me next time.” He says with a smile.
“Okay. I will. Thanks again.”
I sit back down to see my friends giving me a weird look. Amy, Aya and Mary were all grinning at me.
“What?” I ask them.
“How sweet was that?” Aya says, raising her eyebrows at me.
“You guys definitely like each other,” Kellen says while eating his fries.
“No we don’t.” My friends have been shipping me with Sam ever since they met him. I don’t think I see Sam as anything more than a close friend. I can't imagine myself dating him. It would be weird. Plus he’s Finn’s best friend. It would be weird to date my twin’s best friend.
“He’s perfect for you Hera. Caring, sweet, knows a lot about you, what else?” Mary says listing reasons for why I should date Sam.
“Both of you and his family are friends. See. There’s really nothing bad about him. Except for the way you two met. He literally threw a rugby ball at you.” Dylan says, making me think back to home and Sam became friends.
Sam is in Dylan's form. The only class I had with him at the time was D&T. But I barely knew him. The only thing I knew about him at the time was that he was on the school’s football team with Finn. That was it. I didn’t even remember his name. Until one day, when I was on the field for the girl’s football team practice. I was running to where my team was doing some warm up when I heard someone yell “girl in the ponytail watch out!” I turned to see if the guy was talking to and the next thing I know is that a rugby ball hits me in the face. Of course I got mad and I threw it back at the guy hitting him in the face just like it hit me. The thing is, when I threw the rugby ball at this guy with blond hair and ocean blue eyes, hitting him in the face, his nose bled.
“What the heck? I didn’t mean to hurt you, female version of Finn.” He said, holding his head back to stop the bleeding.
It took me a minute to realise what I had done. I just hit a guy I don't even know in the face with a rugby ball! And he’s nose is bleeding.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to do that. I’ll take you to the nurse. Wait let me tell Mrs. Warlow first.” I went to the teacher in charge of the girl’s team to tell her what happened. She nodded and told me that I would have to run 3 laps around the field layer for being late.
I ran back to the boy with the bloody nose and walked him to the nurse. He looked like he was annoyed. I really didn’t mean to hit him. I know he tried to warn me and that it was an accident. Sometimes my anger just gets the best of me.
The walk to the nurse was silent. I didn’t know what to tell him. I am sorry for what I did.
After he got himself cleaned up and checked up by the nurse, we made our way back to the field. He was holding an ice pack on his nose.
“Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to.” I tell him.
“It’s okay. And I’m sorry for hitting you in the face first.” He says, looking at me. “I’m Sam by the way.”
“Hera.”
“You’re Finn’s twin right?”
“Yeah.” I answer.
“That throw was really something else. You got me back real good. You play rugby?”
“No. I don’t. And I’m really sorry about that.”
“It’s okay. Don’t worry about it. I’m fine Hero.”
“It’s Hera, not Hero.”
“I know it is, but what’s the fun in calling you what everyone else does?”
Ever since that day me and Sam have been pretty close. Seeing as he is my brother’s best friend, I see him a lot.
“Hera?” Amy says, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Yeah.”
“Come on, let's go. We’re gonna have an air hockey rematch. I’m winning this time.”
I laughed at that. Every time Amy tries to beat me she never really succeeds. I guess I’m just that good at air hockey.
