They could quickly find the stone columns at the flat hill peak. Looking at it calmly, without the anguish of having his enemies approaching, Marcelo obtained a more objective vision. As often happens, he found them somewhat smaller than at the first time, and infinitely older. The action of the erosion of the elements on the stone was particularly evident, in that site exposed to the winds, only partially sheltered by the tall trees that surrounded it. The monuments were photographed in general and in detail, and Miguel spent a good time contemplating their texture, even with a magnifying glass. This allowed him to discover, after removing the lichen and dust coating, notches and marks of undoubtedly human origin on the stone.

“In fact” he confessed “ I found them because I was looking for them. It would have been very unusual that whoever erected these pillars had not used them to leave messages on their surface.”
