CHAPTER 21

THE CAVE

Dieter Wiligut or Haushofer proved to be a strange man. About fifty years old, short stature, blond hair combed back and a lost look. He was dressed in the classic leather pants worn by climbers in Tyrol, far away from that place and carried a cane in his hand, the type of Alpenstock used by mountains hikers. Ingo took him aside likely to carry out the "financial transactions" and then the man met the rest of the group. Wiligut spoke English with a strong German accent.

“I've put some conditions to take you to the crypt.”

“I have transmitted your conditions to them.” Replied Ingo.

“Well. Do you all agree?” In view of the general assent he added.

“This is a four hours march with some rugged mountain climbing. Are you all able to bear it?” He looked significantly to Lakshmi. Facing the new assent he just added.

“All right. Let's get moving.”
