It took a bit of convincing to get Darren from filing charges against Micah. I felt so bad when I saw the dark bruises on his neck. Micah, on the other hand, did not seem the least bit remorseful. He simply narrowed his eyes in Darren’s direction, as if daring him to do something. Thankfully, Darren was reasonable enough to understand that Micah was just protecting me like a big brother would. A bitter taste settles in my mouth at the thought of Micah being my brother, albeit a stepbrother considering how unsisterly I feel towards him.
