Chapter 34

I was totally graceful for about the next five minutes. Then I just slumped into exhausted hungover me. I walked swiftly home, head low, avoiding any judgmental tree on the way. I just tried to blend into the background.

It didn't take too long to make it to Lee-Ann's. I looked around the front garden for any lily or forget-me-not. There was a silver flower, of course. Except it was a nettle this time. Since I didn't expect that was meant for a purifying tea, the message was clear. It was also pretty stingy when I was picking it. It burned my fingers, reminding me that what I was doing was not appreciated by anyone in my family. Well, that's why I was doing it, after all.

I sneaked into my room and changed into a pyjama to have a quick shower. Then I made my big entrance pretending that I had been in the house the whole night. Which unsurprisingly worked.
