Chapter 23

I watched awestruck as the gruesome battle beneath me went on. Bullets were slicing through the air haphazardly, killing everyone in their path. I spotted David being the usual coward he was and hiding behind a cargo container. I wouldn't let my plan be ruined. I descended and slowly made my way to where he was. He grabbed me from behind in a chokehold and dragged me behind the container with him. I pretended to resist to make it even more believable. He injected me with something and my vision blurred and went black. I had succeeded. So far.

I regained consciousness slowly and within half an hour, I was back in control of my limbs. I was in a bare room. No windows no toilet, no chair, nothing. Just four concrete walls, a floor and a ceiling. David knew that the slightest mistake on their part could cost them a lot. If only they knew that I was in their custody by choice and not by chance.

I waited for ever for something to happen. I was getting bored. I dozed off a couple of times before I heard a sound that I didn't make. I shot up to my feet and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. A small amount of light forced itself into the room as a small compartment in the door slid open. A plate of food was slid through and four glow sticks followed. I scrambled to the door, but the compartment slid shut before I was even halfway there. It was followed by the sound of locks. I was locked in. I distributed the glow sticks to the four corners of the room. I examined the food on the rubber plate. I had to give credit to Ivanka. she really knew how to take care of her prisoners. I had been given a thick piece of boneless steak with fluffy mashed potatoes and a drizzling of some gravy. A single cup of water was included, but no cutlery. My hands would suffice. I ate the food and place the plate and cup behind the door. I walked back to my place and waited. Soon enough, someone came and collected them.

I decided to examine the room. There had to be more to it than just the four walls. I scoured the room for a while, but the only thing I found was a drain where I was probably supposed to pee and a small hole in the ground for other duties. I chuckled softly and returned to my spot on the floor. I had no idea concerning the day or time. I was just waiting for a little action to take place. Luckily, I didn't have to wait long. My breakfast came the next morning. A wonderful selection on back bacon with scrambled eggs and a cold coffee. Not long after I was done, uncontrollable sleep seemed to force it's control over me. They had drugged my food. I swore before the room tilted and everything went black.

I woke up in a bed. I could feel the softness beneath me. My head had been uncomfortably propped up on several pillows. I had a nice balcony view. The room looked awfully posh and over decorated, like a rich person with a guest room but no intent to use it. I got off the bed and immediately walked to the door. As I had guessed, it was locked. What really surprised me was the balcony. The view was breathtaking and all, but they had placed some sort of fiberglass there preventing me from attempting an escape, not that I had any plans on doing so. I took a warm shower and dressed in my old clothes, ignoring the new ones that had been laid out for me. I wanted to show my inner rebel. I sat in the room watching Netflix for literally the whole day. The next day was the same routine. I was getting sick and tired of my new routine and I needed to do something about it.

I counted four cameras and six microphones in the room, but none in the bathroom. I had a blind spot and I was going to utilize it. A little exploration never hurt anybody Right Dora?. I searched the entire bathroom for a sliver of a mistake, but it was to no avail. The only thing left was to breakout the traditional way. Through the door. I crouched by the door for half an hour, waiting for my lunch to arrive. It did. Right on time. I watched as the plate began its journey through the cat flap in the door. I stuck my hand through and pulled the person on the other side, slamming her into the door. With the arm pinned I stuck my head through and warned her not to make a sound. She nodded her head desperately. She had already broken out into sweat and was breathing heavily.

I mode her give me the keys and I opened the door, knocked her out and locked her in. I was out, but I didn't have time to spare. I looked up and down the corridor and counted the cameras. There was no way for me to get down the hallway without being seen. I had to take a risk and sprint down, merely hoping that whoever was in charge of monitoring the cameras would not be focused on that particular corridor. I came to a sharp halt just before I turned the corner. shadows revealed minimum, two guards standing there. I couldn't risk running back down the hallway. I had to go through them. One of them cracked a joke and during the laughter, the one closest to the corner dropped his phone. When he bent down to pick it up, I stuck my three fingers down his throat, grabbed his neck, brought him forward and placed him in a chokehold.

Two more guards faced me pointing their guns at me. I twisted his neck and ducked as the first wave of bullets came. Thankfully, they all used silencers. Using the body as a shield, I rand forward, slamming it into the first guard and sending him sprawling. I threw him onto the other one and turned my attention to the one on the floor getting up. I grabbed the dagger strapped to his side and stabbed him in the neck. The remaining guard thrust his leg forward for a kick to my midsection, but I grabbed it and pulled him forward towards me. I caught him in a chokehold. I squeezed like my life depended on it because it did and that was a problem I had to face. After almost a whole minute of pointless struggle, he finally submitted and went to sleep. Three obstacles down and an unknown number but assuredly huge one remained ahead for me to conquer.

There were two elevators. I decided to take the one to the right, but I needed an Id card for both of them. I went back and snatched one off one of the guards on the floor. I noticed a small device with a red button on it. Probably to raise the alarm. I wasn't going to let that happen. I removed all of them and concealed them in one of the potted plants lining the walls. I entered the elevator and chose the lowest floor. Halfway through, red lights began to flash in the elevator. Something told me that it wasn't only in the elevator that the red lights were flashing. I had been caught. I climbed to the ceiling of the elevator and spread my hands and legs, pushing them against the four walls. When the elevator arrived, two armed me barged in whilst the doors were still opening. I dropped, taking both of them down. I set the destination for the first floor and as I jumped out, I threw my shoe to hit the emergency button The elevator ground to a forced halt between floors.

I took in my surroundings. There were three ways to go. Straight, left and right. I figured. What the heck?. I tore down the middle corridor. I stopped to look into one of the doors. There was a person inside. I checked a few others. Ivanka had developed her own holding facility for her opposition. This was where I was being held before I was moved upstairs. What was even worse was that I recognized a few of them. The agents that worked on the Ivanka mission before me. I felt the sudden urge to cause major commotion. I took a key hanging beside one of the doors and tried it The door swung open. I smiled. Within a minute, all the doors had been opened and the people were restraining were developing some dirty plans. It was evident on their faces.

With a faint ding, the elevator doors opened and several armed men poured out. The next few minutes could only be regarded as oblivion, total chaos, intense mayhem. There were bodies everywhere from both sides. At the end, there were only seven of us left. We made our way to the elevators and moved up to the ground floor. We hoped to find an exit, but all we found was a small army of guards waiting for us. I saw it to be sensible to surrender, but the rest wanted to fight. I didn't object. I had spent only one night in the cell and they had all probably lost count of the number of days they had been there. I ran in a different direction, looking for anything at all. Just my luck. I found an office door slightly open. I peered through the gap. My breath caught in my throat. It was Ivanka's office. She got up and went through a door to the right of her desk, probably the bathroom.

I dashed in and looked at the screen on her computer A flash drive had been inserted. Opened from the flash drive was a list of companies she had shares in. She had just finished adding one more. I scrolled briefly through and surprised myself. It was valuable information. If I took the flash drive, she would know and I would be caught. I rummaged through her drawers. One of them had several different flash drives in them. I grabbed a random one and copied the information onto it. The toilet flushed and the tap started running. I slipped quietly out of the office and found my way to a bathroom. I had to hide the flash drive somewhere. There was only one place convenient enough, but it was going to be uncomfortable. I consoled myself saying that it was worth it. It was a blatant lie, but sometimes you have to lie to yourself. I stuck the tore the plastic wrapping off a roll of toilet paper, wrapped the flash drive in it and stuck it up my asshole.
