WHEN THINGS GOES DOWN HILL.

It's been years since Afifa graduated from the University and obtained all her certificate. Any one who might have met her few years back would have thought her life was perfect but no, things wasn't as it seemed.

Afifa's mother remarried few years after her father's death. Afifa was not informed about it , not until she had left the university and travelled back home, and was met with a figure standing in only pants and an apron wrapped around his waist.

Afifa was so surprised she screamed so loud and her mother ran downstairs with her hair sticking up in all directions, while the stranger dropped the spatula out of shock. Afifa was still surprised that everything around her sounded so far yet it was all close to her.

After her mother was able to get Afifa to calm down that was when she heard her mother was married again!.

Afifa's mother was one of the few people she knew to be so oblivious, even if the case unfolded right in front of her.

And like usual she couldn't tell the man she had married was a sick perverted, gold digger.

Afifa had locked herself up in her room, and had decided not to step out only when necessary.

Minutes later a knock was heard on her door and she was fast to think it was her perverted new dad, even calling him dad didn't feel so right for Afifa.

She stood up from her rather too comfortable bed and sluggishly walked to the door, swinging it open with a scowl on her face , which was quickly changed to a pout, because right before her eyes was her best dish and dessert sitting comfortable on the plate, which was been held by her mother.

Afifa knew this was her mother's way of saying she was sorry and afifa wasn't ready to forgive her mother for marring some pervert, but hey food is food and as at now she will agree to let the matter slide.

Everything hasn't been going smoothly, because lately her mom is always quarrelling with her supposed " father" and afifa doesn't know the reason why.

But everything came to light when she got back from work and met her mother weeping profusely by the porch.

She asked her mother what the problem was and her mother told her about how her husband already took over all her property and ran away with it, that was the moment Afifa realized that her house, where she had grown up , was as bare as a deserted land.

She didn't know what to say to her mother who kept mumbling incoherent words, she was at the midst of comforting her mother when they heard a Knock on the front door, afifa hesitantly left her mother and went to check on the front door.

Where she was met with a man that brought an eviction notice paper, which already gave them a due date to leave the house. And the due date was in three days time.

With heavy eyelids afifa gave the paper to her mother who wept harder if possible.

After some hours, both mother and child had already calmed down , Afifa had already tucked her mother in bed, and has begun to pack their luggages.

She finished at around 4:00 am and was already too tired to lift any of her limbs, reluctantly with all the energy she had left, she headed to the restroom to perform Ablution and began offering prayers to her lord, asking him for guidance, support and protection.

She finished all her prayers around 5:45am, read her Qur'an and checked on her mother, before finally going to bed.

Afifa woke up to the sound of her mother knocking on her door, she stood up grumpily and opened the door for her mother, and was meet with puffy red eyes staring back at her, she was about to ask what happened to her when she noticed the boxes lying around in the hallway.

She quickly engulfed her mother in a warm hug and tried comforting her.

Both mother and child left the house and moved into a one bedroom apartment, because that was what Afifa's salary could afford.

Afifa's mother kept apologizing and kept telling her daughter how she will get a job and fix the pieces in their already broken life, but Afifa already knew it was going to happen, and this time, she wasn't going to place hope in anything her mother says.
