Trip

Aegis smiled as he looked at his work.

The Tartarus project was one of his ideas with what he came when he was racking his brain for low-risk ways to build the Mantle Maria Wall and multiple settlements built on strategical placements for future expansion without hordes of Grimm interrupting the work.

In short, the Tartarus project is a beacon for Grimms. Aegis already has one scientist facility working for an artificial beacon of negative emotions that should work on Grimm, but until now, it is just all theory.

A feasible theory that could save a lot of Aegis experiment subjects as he already poked into the research of aura and semblance for what he needed a lot of living subjects that are now used as bait for Grimms.

To not wait for a miracle, Aegis slowly and quietly started to amass the most despicable people that had a criteria Aegis made for his goal, and that crimes are rape, pedophile, serial-murder, traitors, etc-etc, and his own enemies that dared to make a move against Aegis or his family.

Surprisingly wasn't little number, so with so many experimental subjects, Aegis build multiple facilities with both intern and outside defense that should fight thousands of Grimm without problem as long as it has ammunition.

And to Aegis delight, it worked spectacularly, and the prisoners were tortured on a daily basis with brought their suffering and negative emotions on a new level with brought Grimms in the vicinity to it like moths to the flame, just to be gunned down be precise fire from automatic defenses.

Of course, Aegis made sure that his people heal the prisoners and let them rest as not to break them mentally, and once they were healed, the cycle began anew.

After all, Aegis still needed them for soul research, and having them gone mad before studying their aura and semblance would be a waste.

Thanks to such a despicable method, Aegis was able to build multiple settlements that he reinforced with his trademark defense systems without Grimms interrupting his plan.

Truly who said that these criminals couldn't help society?

Aegis chuckles as he thought about how much the criminals are more valuable to him than the General or entire council of Atlas.

Such irony.

Still, Aegis made sure that the entire facility self-destructs and leaves nothing pointing in his direction in case of compromise.

"Sir, your mother called."

One of the facilities doctors said to Aegis and tried not to look at the current work of his boss or instead of what is left of the man named Marcus Black.

The doctor was one of the victims of the people who are now prisoners in these halls, so he didn't hold any pity for these monsters, not after they killed and raped his wife and his sweet little daughter.

No, the doctor lost any shred of pity he holds for these monsters and even enjoyed his work on them.

The doctor still remembers how these huntsmen who came late to save his family said to him that he shouldn't kill these monsters, that revenge isn't the answer, and that he should be better than them.

The doctor at that time just gritted his teeth as he wished to ask them what would THEY do when something like this happened to their families!

So it was like a miracle when Aegis Schnee himself came to him with a job proposition that could make his revenge even sweater. Yes, the huntsmen had truth in one thing, killing them would be a waste, but what about torturing them?

Oh, how much he enjoyed his work. Some days he was a general practitioner in one of Schnee hospitals where he cured the poor with a kind smile and gentle hand, and the other days he enjoyed in this facility where he was even paid for it!

Still, the doctor wasn't alone in this endeavor as there were tens, maybe even hundreds of souls that were broken by these monsters that now are employed by Schnee as his secret executioners of justice.

The doctor didn't know if his boss understands how grateful he and his co-workers are to him?

He gave them new meaning when they were nothing more than broken husks. He gave them a chance for revenge and to make sure that others will not turn out like them, they will cleanse Remnant from this filth, from these Grimms in human skin, and they will cleanse this filthy world in Schnee name as it was him who truly supported them.

Aegis, not knowing just how even a little act of kindness could change men and women of rational thought into that of zealots, just nodded at the doctor who bowed to him in respect and made his way to speak with his mother...

A mother, huh?

Aegis was now fifteen, almost sixteen years old, with a body that looked on his eighteen. Aegis knew that it would not be long until he or his mother or Winter lost their last inhibitors, but the more he avoided it, the more he enjoyed just how flustrated he made them, especially his mother, who was already experienced in these matters, Aegis knew about hers night solo activities, almost any servant knew about it as his mother wasn't very quiet in calling his name when she satisfied herself every night.

Still, he started to see it as a game, and thanks to his cheating with his creative use of his semblance that he used to prevent his more primal urges from emerging, he knew that he would win. Aegis just wanted to see how long it will take.

Still, Aegis knew he was a little cruel to his mother as he teased her from time to time.

Still, if his mother wants his V-card, or how teenagers called it these days, she should work for it as he will not be the one who will make the first move. That said, Aegis will give her plenty of chances.

Finally reaching his private room, Aegis activated a video call and was greeted by the visage of his mother, who, after two years of rehabilitation from alcohol and everyday exercise, now sported a genuinely mature woman visage with a slim yet plump body on the right places.

"Honey, will you come tonight for dinner?"

Strange question Aegis thought as he made sure that no matter how far he travels, he always made sure to come back home for family dinner.

"Yes, mother, I will, but thats not what you wanted to know, right?"

Aegis asked with a smile even as his eyebrow raised at her in question.

"Sorry, honey, it is just I made a mistake and need to speak about it to you."

Willow said with sight, but Aegis knew it was nothing serious as his mother doesn't look as bad, yes he could see little regret there, but it was nothing worthy of mentioning, still it was his mother, so no matter how meaningless conversation it is, Aegis would always have time for her.

"Mistake? mother, you know you just need to ask, and I will literally run to you."

Aegis said in half-joking and half-serious tone as he meant it.

"Yes, well, I know that you are on one of your facilities that are close to Vale borders, right?"

Willow asked, and Aegis just raised an eyebrow at the strange question, as he always told them where he goes, just not what he goes to do or what are these facilities are for, and to his family credit, they never ask.

Aegis just nodded and let his mother continue.

"You see, when I was young, I had a friend. She was one of my true friends at that time. Unfortunately, I cast her aways when I believed in Jacques's lies, and now when I looked at her warehouse in the hope of asking for forgiveness and maybe for rekindling the old friendship, I found out she is already five years dead."

Willow said, and now her face shows just how much she regretted her action of casting a true friend away on those man's words.

"No need to speak, mother, just tell me what I should do for you."

Aegis said as he wished to be her side at this time and just embrace her in a hug.

"Yes, yes, sorry, honey, it's just painful memories, you know?"

Willow said in a sob as she tries to calm herself and wipes her tears.

"She, she left someone after her, I don't know where. I tried to look for her, but any of my contacts didn't hear of her, and I fear for the worst, so I called you to ask you to go to Vale and look for her, please son I really wish to undo my mistake with this."

Willow said in a quick manner as she was still crying. Aegis just looked at her and waited for her to stop to ask her what she wanted finally.

"Mother, deep breaths, count on three, Yes I will gladly visit Vale for you and look for this person, but you must first tell me for who I look or at least how she looks."

Willow blushed at her mistake and calmed herself down, and after five minutes of silence, she continued.

"This, this I get from her last social media page, it should help you. Unfortunately, this is all I have."

Willow said, and she did send Aegis the five-year-old page from Mybook, one of the most used social media networks.

Aegis looked at the information, and immediately was captived by the mismatched woman, one side of brown other of pink hair, with same, goes for the eyes was holding girl that looked on her eight years old with same features with ride side of hair brown and the other pink, her left eye was brown and the right was pink.

The girl was short even for her age. Still, he could see that she would grow into a real beauty.

"Her name is Neopolitan. Unfortunately, she, like her mother, never got the last name."

Willow said and continued.

"Please honey, please find her and bring her to me, at least like this I could repay to my friend who I hurt, just imagining what could happen to that little girl in these five years worries me."

Willow said, and Aegis just nodded.

"Don't worry, mother."

Aegis said goodbye to his mother ended the call.

"Well, it seems that I will for the first time visit the Vale, of well at least I came to see on my own eyes just how the most cultural city looks in person."

Aegis said as he called for his bullhead pilot.
