New life

Samantha, or more know as Sam Dickinson still couldn't believe what was happening even if she stood before the window that showed white landscape with white buildings with blue lines like veins of the buildings.

It was just two days ago when she laid in her hospital bed in the cancer ward for terminally ill with but little of hope to live another painful day, even coming of magic that made the fifteen-year-old girl that much hopeful, it was cool, good, beautiful and all of that to know there was magic, but just as she looked through the internet, she saw she wasn't sole person who thought that with magic there was a chance to heal the brain cancer in the late stadium.

Just to be disappointed and horrified when she found that the wizards and magicians from fairy tales weren't so good as the tales told, and watch how nurses and doctors become even busier with people who were attacked by magic-wielding men.

And as last drops of hope started to die, her mother who sparsely visited her because of the work that she needed to pay for Sams hospital bills, came with red and wet eyes, for a while Sam feared that her mother would give up on her or that they kicked her out of a job and couldn't afford the hospital bills.

Just to be surprised by a sudden hug and happy-filled words of saying that everything would be alright.

And Sam found out she wasn't the sole one who had a similar visit as parents, siblings, or children came to their family members with hopeful faces.

Later after her mom calmed down, Sam found out that her mom accepted Solitas deal, the alien-like real ALIEN Kingdom that was human to boot made their offer to heal them for free as long as they accepted to become Solitas citizens and came to live and work to their world called Remnant, Remnant of what? Sam thought it was a strange name for the world, but then she looked at the video on the internet with one Sentinel who said that naming our world after dirt meant that they lost any right to criticize other worlds' names...

For a while, Sam worried about losing USA citizenship, but then her mother told her to forget about it, that their nation had never done anything for them as they needed to even pay for her illness.

And like that, Sam ended up in a portal facility with their group of new citizens of Solitas, looking at the pristine-looking city that was nearby and the gargantuan walls around it with what looked like gigantic weapons that made some boys and men in the group sigh in awe.

Sam too, thought they looked cool, but her eyes looked at a different place, at first, Sam thought it was a building that was interestingly inclined, but then her eyes traveled to words on the side and her heart froze.

Sam didn't understand these words, but the meaning was clear.

"ORSSC: Hammer of Mortality 7."

Said voice and Sam alarmingly looked just to gape at the man with wolf ears and predatory eyes that was wearing a white military uniform and smiled at her, making Sam and her mom nervous.

"That is one of ten Orbital Railgun Schnee Solitas Cannons, built after knowledge of other worlds and possible aliens became know to Solitas and Remnant at large."

The wolfman said with a wolfish grin that made Sam blush, then she bowed her head a little as she felt a little inferior as she wasn't any good looking, plus years of cancer didn't help her body either as she now looked like a stick with her head shaved clean.

"But where are my manners, Im John, John Umbra a wolf faunus if you already didn't guess and your mandatory guide that is tasked with helping you to integrate to our world."

Now named John said and Sam could see all different families being either in conversation or led away by same clothed military officers.

"Don't mind my uniform, our nation is just more military-oriented than your previous one, even if you find a good job without going through military training, there are some perks to go with the military for few years, like better taxes, and multiple other benefits."

John said and as Sam wanted to say something or her mom could, he continued.

"And if you fear you couldn't because you are too old or ill, then don't, you will find that our world is little different, as the moment you became a citizen of Solitas your aura would by unlocked, making your body younger, and you Sammantha, from what I read from files your healing process would be quick and painless, so both of you can go through military training, you don't need to mind you, but the benefits are worth it."

Sam thought the boy, man? He looked so young yet already had such a job, was too pushy for this matter, until he smiled at her with his cobalt eyes, making Sam a little weak in knees...

Marie, who looked at the wolf boy with amusement and thankfulness, couldn't help but smile as she looked at her daughter who after years of pain, smiled like when she was young, Marie could see what the boy was doing, that he was leading conversation so that he make her little angel forget about the pain, for that Marie was truly grateful.

"Oh, look at it, there is our transport."

The boy said and Marie looked with interest as one of those sci-fi-looking bullheads stoped and landed before them.

As Sam and Marie walked to the bullhead, John couldn't help but shook his head...

His mother warned him about this possibility but John just thought these were just rumors, a myth...

But as he looked at the weakly looking girl he couldn't help but calm his beating heart...

Love at first sight?

John truly didn't know if he should laugh or cry, to think that his instincts to mark the girl as his, still discipline was one thing the Solitas military training taught them as the first thing.

And so John pushed his instincts down.

---------Time skip-----------

"Hey, before I go..."

"Yes?"

Sam looked at John as he was about to leave for the day after showing them their new home and unlocking their aura that made her and her mom feel revitalized, saying that he would come tomorrow to show them the hospital.

"Er... Would you, like..."

John muttered and Sam couldn't help but shocked look at the boy who for the entire day was fool of confidence and at ease, now flushing deeply red, making Sam's stomach clench in both hope and uncertainty.

"Well... Would you like to go with me tomorrow to Caffe or just some snack after the hospital visit?"

John said and as his wolf ears were flattened on his head, making Sam blush at the similarity with dogs that wanted something.

"Y-yes..."

Sam whispered, but as she thought it was too quiet for John to hear, she saw his wolf ears perk up in excitement.

"Really?! Good! I mean! Well tomorrow morning ok?"

"Y-yea."

Sam said as she closed the doors as she couldn't any longer watch John as her heart throbbed in both painful and wonderful feeling.

"mmmn."

"MOM?!"

Sam screamed as she saw her smiling mother watching her from the hallway.

"So, a dog person hm?"

"MOM!"

Marie just smiled, after years, years of pain and sadness they finally had a new start, and to hell, if her daughter and this puppy boy took it so quickly, Marie loved the feeling she felt from her happy daughter, it made all the pain she withstood and all the humiliation she received from her boss worth it.
