Chapter Eight

Tomorrow came too soon. Savvy was putting the last of her clothes in a bag when there was a tap on the front door and even before Maria's constant yelling became intolerable, she felt he was here.

"I'm ready." Savvy said, standing up and flattening out her baby tee. She had on her moving clothes, a pair of gray and pink Aeropostale sweat pant Capri's and a pink baby tee. Her hair was in a top ponytail, and her shoes were the low top pink and white Forces no socks.

Everything she owned that wasn't for work fit into two duffel bags. Savvy shook her head, laughing to herself, looking at those two pitiful bags. Savvy had given all her work clothes to Maria. She was starting a new chapter in life; it was only right and now she could give all her attention to school.

"Sis, do you really have to go now? I mean, isn't it too soon?" Maria cried from her doorway before dramatically falling to the bed.

The one thing about her old life that Savvy would never leave behind was Maria. Her best friend. Leaving her was harder than she thought it would be. She was her rock, her light in dark places when all other lights went out. And she was presently acting a fool. She was lying on the bed in all the stripper clothes rolling around, whining, laughing, and crying at the same damn time. She looked like a little kid who dropped a cookie in mud.

"Maria, get the hell off the bed and come give me a hug." She said, smiling sadly.

She leaped off the bed and came running to her full speed. They tumbled to the floor with her on top. For a second it was silent, and then her obnoxious giggles started what turned out to be a five-minute giggle session.

"I'm really going to miss you, ma." She said when the giggles stopped.

"And I will miss you to babe. But you know its only temporary and when it's over we both going to be good." Savvy said, and they hugged, still laying on the floor, and linked their pinkies to make it a promise.

Tyron cleared his throat and made a humming noise to let them know he was in the room. Savvy looked at him and for a second lost her train of thought. Nobody should be that fine. He was leaning against the door frame, smiling ear to ear. "Is this the stuff you girls do at sleepovers?"

Savvy smiled and hunched her shoulders while Maria jumped up and in rapid Spanish went off. It also threw Savvy up when Tyron replied in Spanish. Savvy felt left out. As they talked, Maria seemed to calm down more and more. Then she turned and looked at her and walked right past her into the bathroom.

After she slammed the door, she said through the door, "Leave now while I'm not in the room. I already said goodbye, I won't say it again. If I come out and you're not gone, you are not going."

"What did you say to her?" Savvy asked.

"Dose it really matter, we need to go, she really doesn't trust me and she doesn't think I'm good for you." He picked up the bags and walked out the door to his truck.

"I'll call you later, Maria," Savvy yelled.

"Okay, be careful, Savvy." Maria yelled back.

"Always."

The drive was crazy. Silence. Silence. And more guess what silence. So Savvy switched on the radio to 104.1 to listen to something that would get her out of her funk. Commercials were all she got, and since he was content with just driving, she decided she was going to do the talking.

"So, what did you and Maria talk about in Spanish?" Savvy asked.

"Confidential." he replied in a serious tone.

"Are you serious? She's my best friend. Now, tell me what was said." Savvy said, her tone threatening.

"Fine, she thinks, I'm going to fuck you and leave you. Maria said it might be good for you but she said I have be gentle or she would cut off my balls and feed them to her friend's pit bull. She also advises me to give you chocolate, lots of chocolate and fruit. She also thinks that you are too sensitive and a little scared of men so I have to ease into your heart slowly and it may take some time."

"You a damn lie," Savvy exclaimed. No way Maria was trying to help him make her fall for him. It was against girl code.

"Am not, and she told me a secret." he whispered.

"She didn't say all that shit." Savvy denied.

"Okay, so some I may have made up." he admitted.

"I don't like you." Savvy said, turning away.

"Yes, you do." he sang.

"Do not."

"Do to.,"

"Do not."

"Do not." Said Tyron.

"Do to." Said Savvy.

"I know." he smirked, the prick.

"Ugh." Savvy exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air as if asking God why.

"I know." he replied.

Oh, how could a man so fine be so annoying? He defined asshole in a whole new way and if he couldn't hold up a better conversation, then they would go back to the silence.

Savvy was almost asleep just looking out the window at all the trees and woods. Tyron must have been driving for at least an hour, and they must be in the boonies. All the houses here were huge, like three story huge. Like his parents' house, this dude had bread and a lot of it. Just when she closed her eyes, his sexy voice woke her up.

"There's my house." he said.

He was still driving up a long driveway. You couldn't even see the house yet and there were no others on this drive and none you could see. And then the house came into view, her dream house. Three-story stone house, white and blue, so many windows. The steps were wide, as were the double doors marking the entrance. It was a mansion and she couldn't wait to see the inside.

"Welcome home." he said.

For a while, she thought.
