Gianna Gilbert

As I draw my bow, I notice that the deer is looking straight in my eyes. Before the deer could run to me and try to be a threat, I release the bow right into its eye.

"Good job G." My dad said to me as I walked over to high five him.

"Thanks." I said, as I grabbed another arrow, ready to aim it at the next creature.

"You know Gianna, tomorrow is the color choosing. You might be sent in the arena." My dad said and I nodded.

I am very much prepared for the games. I was born ready.

"Remember what your old man taught you: aim with your eyes—" he said and I decided to finish him off.

"Not with your heart." I said and he nodded, playing with the top of my hair a bit.

I grabbed the gun from my dads opened case, looking around to see if there are any more animals to shoot down for practice. I notice a rabbit, and so I decided to shoot it so that I can eat today. Deer isn't legal to eat in my area.

"Good shot." Dad said as I went over to grab the bunny.

"Yeah, it's dead alright." I said, bringing it back to camp.

"We're eating great tonight." Dad said as he prepared to rabbit.

While dads preparing the rabbit, I decided to walk over to the other side of the woods and found a river with fresh water that I can drink out of. Looking at the water, I see my reflection. A once innocent girl turned into a ravage bunny killer. My aunt raised me like her own daughter even though she was my aunt.. she passed away a year ago and ever since then, I have sort of wanted to kill other things.

Okay, that makes me sound crazy. I'm not talking about people. I'm talking about animals, LEGAL STUFF. I like hunting, not murdering..

I found a boy in the forest. He has blue eyes, shiny like diamonds and hair in a topaz shade of color. He was about 6'1 and he looks like he's 18, but I'm not fully sure.

I decided to walk over to the boy and see what he's up to.

"I DID IT!" He said out loud as he heard the bushes rattle a little.

"WHOS THERE?!" I heard him shout as I was hiding in the bush.

He started walking towards the bushes, looking in them one by one, and as he got to my bush, I shriveled up and held myself in a position. He lifted the bush to find me in there, shriveled up in a ball scared that the boy is going to kill me.

"What are you doing here?" He asked me, pointing a gun at my head.

"I was just looking for water. Please don't hurt me!" I shouted and he looked at me, moving his gun away from my head as I stood up, looking into those beautiful blue eyes.

"Hi." I said and he smiled.

"Hi. What's your name?" He asked me as he held his hand.

"I'm Gianna. What about you?" I said, taking his hand as I'm shivering from the cold and from an ounce fear.

"I'm kai. I'm from the forest." He said and I smiled, sorta.

To be hair, he was pretty cute. I sighed of relief and then went back to finding water.

"You can stay with me for now." He said, holding my hand. I nodded and he brought me to his house in the forest.

"Did you make this?" I asked him and he nodded, letting me in.

"I was taught through my parents. They died when I was ten, so I made my own house far away from the animal that ate them." He told me and I hugged him.

I sort of felt bad that he lost both of his parents.

"What animal?" I asked him and he showed me the cheetah print. But they don't live in the forests. They live in jungles.

It's been hours and I'm still in this boys house he made all on his own. It actually looks nice. It's a little yurt with made candles from his parents, I think they're from his parents, and I sighed as I laid down on the bed. It's actually very comfy.

"Want anything to eat?" He asked me and I shook my head, thinking about the nature life I could've had. All I can think about are those stupid games.

"You okay?" he asked me and I gulped.

"Yeah." I lied.

He could tell I was lying and I wasn't exactly good at hiding it.

"You're going to be okay. Whatever it is." He said and I started to look down at my hands and body.

"I am not safe." I said and he looked at me a bit confused.

"What do you mean you're not safe?" He asked me and I told him about these games that happen every decade.

"Oh, those games. Yeah, my cousin participated. She passed away, but I heard that she was super good at them." He said and I nodded, as I hear my dad looking for me.

"GIANNA!" I hear my dads voice call and I looked at kai, and then back out there.

"I have to go, I'll see you later." I said and he nodded, allowing me to go to my dad.

As I jumped over the bushes, I see my dads worried face. I looked at him and then once he noticed me, he hugged me and brought me back to the campsite.

"Our camping trip is over Gia." He said and I nodded, as I looked at the bushes.

"Once I make it out of the games, can we come back?" I asked him and he nodded, as we started packing to go home.

I looked at the little Polaroid camera dad brought with us and all the pictures are so pretty and so nice. I'm going to add these to my nature scrapbook.

We are now all packed, walking up to the road as my father and I start loading the trunk of the van.
