Chapter 55 The Beginning Of The End Of Eternity

Drip, drip, drip.

The tears emerge from her eyes as she stares at his, she raises her arms and begins to clap.

Daki goes silent after asking his question and so does Zahtan, not responding.

Everyone looks at her, the only sound in the air in her clapping.

Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap . . .

Clap.

Her hands then stop moving as she holds them together in place, she turns her head and looks at Daki.

"Timeth is up," she declares, as the tears stop falling from the eyes covered by the mask.

"Fine," he sighs, looking at Zahtan.

The Female One raises her right hand, a diamond shining on her ring finger, and she points in the general direction of Zahtan.

Daki finds it unusual that Zahtan isn't looking at them at all.

He was sweating a while ago after he asked that question, yet now he is dead calm . . . as if he knows what's about to happen . . . or maybe I'm overthinking.

Zahtan raises his arms in grandeur, "I am the Unruly, the Pitfall, the one to attack him from the front, back, off the right, and off the left, restless, relentless, inevitable. All that he thinks, feels, and writes . . . will be tainted by me. He will lament my unholy birth,"

He puts his arms down and strokes his silver hair backwards, "You buried your treasures, Daki. And I buried mine, let's see who ends up at the top─"

"Authority," interrupts the Female One.

Once Daki hears that, his head snaps towards her reflexively, he stares at her with a poker face, yet his insides are screaming in disbelief.

Did he hear what she said right?

Those are the last thoughts that cross his mind before he is blown away by a sudden beam of immensely powerful and intense light that strikes down extremely fast from the void above.

"AAHH!" screams Zahtan, his vision hazy as he looks at Daki outside.

Just as fast as it came, it went away. And Zahtan is nowhere to be found, the only thing left behind is the dust and the destruction the beam caused.

Recovering slowly, he takes careful steps towards the edge, to witness the burns on the walls of the hole in the island that the beam struck through cleanly.

He gulps, having a clear view of the void below.

"Shall we, then?" asks the Female One.

"Is there any chance I can get two small last requests?" asks Daki.

". . . state thy accord,"

"First of all, can we do this somewhere else? Secondly, mind if I have a last meal?"

"Granted," she raises her right hand towards him.

"Art thee going to useth it again over something so trivial?" asks the Male One.

"That gent is fine with it," she responds.

"Good, then,"

"Authority," she says again.

Pop!

Daki's vision bends and goes all twisted. He starts to lose his balance and his footing a little.

Is he hallucinating? No . . .

He takes a strong step forwards, regaining his balance somewhat but is still a bit wobbly. Looking around, he finds himself and them on the same edge where he had started.

"Art thee good now? If this is thy first timeth, it couldst be a little rough," says the Female One, looking at him in concern.

Daki pants, shaking his head, "I am fine,"

They bent this existence to their will . . . it happened to instantly and calmly that his body is overwhelmed and shaken up.

"What is't that thee wouldst liketh to eat?"

"Oh . . . right. I had it prepared a long time ago," he says, snapping his fingers and a round table with three seats appears, without a dome this time. There is but one plate with what looks like a cheeseburger and a glass of apple juice.

"Would you like anything?"

"Nay, I am good," responds One, seating themselves.

Daki sits and takes a bite of the burger and a sip of the juice.

Hmm, pretty close to what it tastes like . . . wish I could have had it with you, though . . . brother.

He looks at the meal, with a hint of longing etched on his face.

He eats quietly, until: "You know, you should have names. Makes it easier to refer and converse with you two,"

". . . we do, though. One," responds the Female One.

"I know, but like nicknames to make things easier for someone other than you two," he suggests.

The Female One hums, "Hm, what do thee suggesteth?"

"How about . . . you would be ****, and you would be ****?"

One responds with silence.

"No? You don't like it? Okay," he shrugs, snapping his fingers again.

A piano appears and starts playing itself.

He continues to eat.

. . .

"Such a soothing and beautiful melody," murmurs the Male One.

"Indeed," affirms the Female One.

"Right? He always used to play it while I fell asleep on the couch," recalls Daki with a smile.

. . .

"Art thee ready?" asks the Female One finally.

"Yes," responds Daki. He gets up and walks backwards, he snaps his fingers again and everything disappears.

As he walks, his right hand holding the spear starts to shake slightly.

When was the last time I was nervous? I do not recall . . .

Turning around, he faces the standing duo.

The Male One cracks his neck.

For one last time, Daki raises his shaking left hand and puts it on his face like he always does. He closes his eyes and faces upwards, holding his spear upwards like Cain.

. . .

Memories flood in . . . of his brother as they were kids . . . the games and slides they used to play with at the park. Their favorite rides and how his brother was always scared to ride any fast rides.

We would spend some nights telling each other stories and he would tell me about how hearing the letters from the Master . . . we did everything together and were stuck to each other like glue, even sleeping on the floor next to each other.

As teens, when they tried video games and went to the water park, where his brother was afraid of a large drop, they also started their pilot training together.

I discovered that he had no powers like mine, and I would try my best to cheer him up . . . I wanted to live up to his expectations . . . I mastered every weapon I could . . . and through so much pain, I earned the fastest regeneration of all the pilots.

As fully matured being that hit the peak of growth, they earned their titles as pilots.

As twins, we asked for a single plane and Tahara allowed it. We went on every single mission together, we even built a small house on the first floor when we moved here, to invite people. We suffered much at the Castle, but we were always together . . . going back home together . . . good or bad . . . always together.

A tear falls from Daki's eye.

"Forgive me . . . for I will do this alone. Reach your full potential, you always had more in you . . . I will ****** **** ***," he murmurs.

After this final message, he closes the gates.

And regains his focus.

. . .

He exhales deeply.

Did I miss anything? All good hopefully . . . I have done all I can . . . the rest is on you guys, take care of yourselves . . .

"Don't forget our deal," he says.

"Don't worry, we shall upholdeth our word as longeth as thee meeteth the conditions," assures the Male One.

Daki takes a deep breath, "Fuck it,"

He takes another deep breath in.

"System!" he shouts, looking down and glaring at them with immense blood lust.

One can't help but crack smiles in preparation, their skin pebbles up and their heart rates rise.

Cost: Everything

"Purchase," says Daki.

His head falls down.

. . .

"On his feet with his weapon, putting everything on the line, a true warrior's death," says the Female One.

. . .

Laying down together on an inclined plane, they look at the beautiful fireworks in the distance.

Towards Eternity. Together.

They both communicate telepathically and smile, mesmerized by the beauty of the fireworks.
