Chapter 2: A Gift

In a realm of light, so far away from the earth, a portal opened, and a corpse fell through the portal. The laws of the realm seemed different, because the corpse didn't fall, but gently floated.

lights began to gather into a shape, slowly revealing a translucent man, in a shining apparel. The man floated to the body, and examined it with interest. "Wow, this is the first time I've seen a dead person in this realm. I usually get arrogant adventurers...oh?"

'He's a child...' the man frowned, the man noticed the star embedded in his back.

"When did the humans become this despicable? Attacking a youngling like this." The man calmly stated. He picked up the boy's weapon and it started to glow.

'this weapon isn't bad...could it be because of this?' the translucent man wondered.

The man lightly placed the polearm in the air, then waved his hand casually. A book appear in his hand. There was a sigil on the book, a sun.

"Death doesn't exist in the realms of light. Arise, O child."

The child dissociated into particles which spread as if to scatter. Each particle began to gather light, before slowly coming together. The man passed the book towards the particles. The ball turned into a light, that began to draw in all the particles like a black hole.

"The skies beneath wish to rebel against me. You are my champion." The man spoke with authority, and the realm reverberated.

The lights dimmed and the naked body of the child was revealed. A sun was shining from his chest. His hair grew longer and turned from black to gold. Lights gathered from the man's hands, then shot into the floating body.

"This is my gift to you, O child. A portion of me. Consider it a gift for being the first dead creature to reach the realm of light."

The polearm and the naked child began to glow with greater light. The man was left alone.

"The skies will tremble." He said calmly.

A pillar of light shot into the sky, from an unknown location in the earth. Everything looked up at the light. No creature could comprehend what it meant.

The sky received the light like a friend, every thing was giving off little lights as if they were a part of that light. The light remained for a few minutes before everything returned back to peace. A silent and peaceful night.

Iloha was in confusion, it's citizens ran to the shelters, pushing and shoving, hoping for a chance to escape an impending disaster. Several roars came from the sky. Just the power of the roars broke building and summoned huge whirlwinds.

Huge shields began to manifest over the city, and the turrets were activated. The whirlwinds couldn't get past the shield, and began to scatter. Then a roar escaped the skies, scattering the clouds and all its inhabitants. Cloud fish fell like rain.

The seal of the first sky broke, and a huge figure descended slowly. It was an humanoid crocodile, having four arms, each holding an orb. It was wearing a golden battle armour, almost 10 stories tall, and having a halo. Other lifeforms accompanied it, crocodiles with human bodies, holding staves and swords.

It released another malicious roar, along with its henchmen, and the force of the blast rocked the shield. A turret fired in an energy ball at the god, in response. The ball exploded upon contact, causing it to stagger, while the blast threw up some of it's henchmen.

The god became infuriated, it rushed towards the shield, with all four orbs lighting up. It was intent on making the city suffer for it's minor setback. The minions took the cue, running after their boss, all their weapons flashing sickly green.

In an instant, they were upon the shield. One strike from the crocodilean god, and the shield cracked. The minions, however, couldn't do any damage. Cracks kept spreading, and as the god was about to deliver the final blow....

A huge ball of fire descended on the invaders. They took heavy damage, excluding the crocodile god, who had a little more than a burn on his face. His head was dripping glowing green blood. The crocodile, turned his gaze to the new development. It's wound closed up quickly.

"It's Lord Gray! Lord Gray is here! He'll save us!" one of the city defence personnel shouted, with glee.

"Wow, it really is Lord Gray! That'll teach 'em!" Another said.

The citizens at the shelter, were all jubilating also. No one could fight the gods except for Lord Gray. In their eyes, the crocodile was as good as dead. Some even began throwing contemptuous words like,

"that little lizard thinks it can scare us?"

"Hmm, isn't it just a stupid lizard with four balls?"

The crocodile god would have vomited blood if he heard the civilians talk. The ladies began their usual gossiping, all imagining becoming the next wife of their saviour. Some were even discussing how to get rid of their competition.

They watched the screen fervently as the a small figure stood against a mountain.

Their saviour was a man in a white suit, and a red scarf. He was floating in the air, like an angel. The roars of grief and anger merely flicked his scarf slightly. He wasn't at all moved by their threats.

"Lord Gray is so cool!" A child couldn't help but declare. The audience made noises of affirmation, all their eyes shining as they individually thought, 'could I ever be as strong as him?'

Then Lord Gray flew off in the opposite direction of the city, leading the invaders away.

The crowd cheered as the invaders became dots in the horizon. The tense atmosphere finally became calm, each citizen feeling secure.

The reptile and the king, fought for a day and a half. The god's minions had all died, and it's golden armour had melted into its skin. It wasn't recovering as quickly as it had before. Lord Gray was almost spent. His white suit was ragged and ripped, and his scarf had long since disappeared.

The two entities stared at each other, both calculating if the next move was worth it. The crocodile's eyes shone with wicked intelligence. And it spoke in a raspy, inhuman voice, which consisted of more than 13 voices, all talking together.

"Where is the chosen? Give it to us and we will let you be!" The crocodile declared.

Lord Gray's eyes twitched, so they had attacked because they wanted something. What chosen could they have been speaking of? He wondered. He looked upon the crocodile.

"I don't know what you are talking about. What chosen?" Lord Gray replied, vexed.

"Didn't you see a sign? The mark of the King spirit, was passed down to a creature. Hand over the creature and we'll let you insects survive." The lizar-no,the crocodile said contemptuously.

"Well we don't have the creature." Lord Gray said, as he took a stance.

The crocodile, however, ignored him. It raised it's hand to it's head and pulled out a scale. He let it float to his adversary.

"This scale will tremble when the chosen is near." The crocodile explained.

"Why should I help you? You can't even beat me!" Lord Gray taunted.

The crocodile burst into laughter, as if he'd heard the funniest joke in the universe. He looked at Lord Gray like he was looking at an ant.

"There are 49 skies above your world, and in each skies rest 7 gods. I'm from the lowest sky, and I'm the seventh god. All of the 49 skies want this creature. Do you have the guts to keep him?" He asked with disdain.

Lord Gray trembled as he heard. He was visibly shaken. He stared blankly into space, calculating the chances of surviving if the seven gods of the lower sky came for him.

'impossible...' he thought.

The crocodile laughed with scorn and turned, ignoring the terrified human. He waved his hand and formed a few symbols. The sky began to open, revealing, layers upon layers upon layers of skies above.

Lord Gray saw it and dropped to his knees. His eyes were dead. There was no chance of humanity prevailing in such a war. Even the least of the gods was a mouthful.

The crocodile god floated slowly back into the sky, then turned to the shaken man.

"Find the creature, or else I and my sister will come to play with you." He said nothing else.

The god closed his fist and the sky closed along with it. If not for the scorched ground and the destroyed environment, it would have been called a peaceful sight. It all seemed like a dream.
