(Chapter 6) Preparation

The entire day was spent going around some smaller stores being half the items inside. With Mr. Tuhs driving back into the garage, he looked into the back.

*Sigh* "It looked like we tired her out today." He spoke in a low voice as Astrid was sleeping on the pillow.

Mrs. Tuhs yawned. "Of course, she isn't used to going out and running around all day." She spoke as she looked into the back mirror.

Mr. Tuhs looked at his wife and smiled. "Was it hard... Hard not being recognized?" He asked in a low and kind voice.

Mrs. Tuhs looked back at her husband and chuckled. "Hard? Of course, people forgot me so quickly... But for our daughter, I don't care." She didn't care for other people's opinions after having her child. She only cared for her child, and spoiling her was her job.

Mr. Tuhs kissed his wife and opened the door. "Alright then, I'll carry our baby to bed." He understood his wife well. She loved her old job. But for her family, she would do anything.

.......

"Young Miss! Those clothes look really good on you." Winoa praised with sparkling eyes.

After only a day, all of the items Mrs. Tuhs bought arrived, needing 2 trucks to deliver all of her clothes.

Now she was left in a room with her mother, Winoa, and her mother's attendant, Andrea.

Astrid looked down at her clothes, she didn't feel anything for the clothes she wore. Only that they were extremely comfortable to wear...

By the side, Andrea nodded. She basically looked like an older version of Winoa. Just with light brunette hair. "Young Miss, how does it feel?" She asked as she judged Astrid's reaction.

"It's fine." Astrid replied. Earning a nod by Mrs. Tuhs.

This went on for hours. Mrs. Tuhs coordinated all of her outfits. Organizing what should be paired and what shouldn't. For the clothes that she had second thoughts on, she gave them to Winoa. Most were too small for her, but the ones that fit suited her well.

So this day was spent with Mrs. Tuhs dressing her daughter. But as she continued to dress Astrid. She noticed something.

"Baby, do you not enjoy this?" Mrs. Tuhs asked gently as she removed the dress she had put on Astrid.

"I don't mind." That was the truth. This was necessary for her to go to school. And she didn't have anything to do anyway.

Mrs. Tuhs narrowed her eyes. "Oh? Is my baby lying to me?" She asked, still in a gentle tone.

Astrid shook her head. "No." She answered. Did it look like she didn't enjoy it?

Mrs. Tuhs just sighed and started to place another dress on Astrid. It was a pale black knee-high dress. It hugged Astrid's thin body, making her look more like a lolita than just a skinny girl...

It hid her flaws and made her look cute. Mrs. Tuhs looked around for a wide hat.

Upon placing the hat, and some jewelry. Winoa was left looking at Astrid with stars in her eyes.

"Wow. Young Miss looks pretty." Andrea complimented while nodding her head. She was in awe of Her madam's fashion sense once again...

Astrid didn't react, only looking up at her mother. "Is it good?" She asked, she was being complimented, so it must be fine right?

Mrs. Tuhs nodded. The problem she was having however, she shouldn't speak about...

"Of course. My daughter would look the prettiest." Mrs. Tuhs smothered Astrid's cheeks. 'Mm, my daughter might not have developed, but she is still cute!'

Yep, she was worried about Astrid's body. Clothing her for two days in a row clearly showed her that despite her body filling out, she was still extremely thin.

Mrs. Tuhs then thought of something else, she looked at Astrid with piercing eyes.

"Baby, you haven't been having any... Stomach pains lately?" Mrs. Tuhs asked with worry written on her face.

Andrea also looked with piercing eyes, while Winoa looked away with flushed cheeks.

"Stomach aches?" Astrid asked, a little clueless about what her mother meant.

Mrs. Tuhs bite her lips. Thinking her daughter didn't want her to worry... But it was normal and natural, so her worry was well placed.

"Mmm, has your area... Bled?" Mrs. Tuhs tried to ask in the most pegi 18 way possible.

Astrid then understood. She lightly shook her head. 'In my previous life, I didn't suffer any periods. Will this body suffer from them?'

Astrid never had a period in her previous life. She didn't know how strange that was, since she was ostracized from a young age and was far from interested in human biology.

Mrs. Tuhs nodded. "Just make sure to tell me when you do. I know it's embarrassing but it's something we women must deal with." Now Astrid was baffled. How did this come about?

How did it come about? Mrs. Tuhs knew that her daughter would previously never had her period since her body was too weak. But now she was sufficiently eating, then it was inevitable.

"Alright then. I think it's time for some dinner." Mrs. Tuhs effortlessly moved away from the embarrassing topic and on to something else. Since they had gone through plenty of outfits for now, her daughter needed to eat.

Dinner included Winoa, Andrea refused the offer. Since she believed herself to be an attendant, she was always an employee under Mrs. Tuhs, so she would eat later instead.

She urged her daughter to eat with Astrid, it was obvious how Winoa had regained some life when Astrid became healthier.

.......

Astrid sat down with her new outfit on.

With a simple tracksuit and jumper, she was left cozy. While Mrs. Tuhs looked at her nodding.

"Mmm, that's good." She knew Astrid wouldn't wear this outside often. But at least she would have more clothes for home.

"The school phoned me earlier. They said that you are fine to stay in the same year you are in." Mrs. Tuhs sat down while serving her daughter some tea.

Of course, the phone call was much more complicated than that. Being told your child is ill and sickly is painful. Then being told that she isn't particularly smart and should stay back a year is just infuriating...

'How dare they say my child is stupid! Hmph, she will show them.' Mrs. Tuhs was an experienced parent though. Along with some casual threats, it was easy to make stuff work...

Astrid nodded. She took a sip of the tea her mother made and put it down. Mrs. Tuhs watched her exude casualness, while maintaining the knowledge of high society tea drinking.

'Did we teach her that? God, unless she made it up on her own...' Mrs. Tuhs was impressed, it showed her class, while not being stuck up like most second-generation children...

'Mother's tea does taste the same as before. So why does food not taste right?' Astrid inwardly wondered.

She found out that compared to her old world, the food could taste drastically different. Apples were sour, grapes tasted close to milk for some reason... Just those 2 examples made Astrid confused.

'Yet I can drink blood without much issue? I even feel better afterward. Is there something wrong with this body?' Astrid could only conclude that something must have happened to change Astrid's tastebuds.

But her memory explained nothing. So it must have happed before then, who she was born with it...
