(Chapter 84) The Teasing

"I'll take that you don't do alcohol well then." Lewis mumbled as he continued to drive.

Astrid didn't say a word and stayed silent, she hadn't said anything since she left Lewis's room.

Lewis had a calm and relaxed smile on his face, he knew that Astrid was feeling some mixed feelings right now. She probably was hoping to let no one ever know about her eye...

But Lewis couldn't help but feel at ease. He knew, and he was still alive. That must be a positive right?

The silence was deafening, Astrid was completely emotionless as she silently watched the road in front brooding.

Lewis knew now wouldn't be the time to be making any comments, so he took heed to the advice Winoa had given him. Astrid would want to eat meat!

Lewis made a text to one of the managers to a certain restaurant, ordering 4 portions out for a takeaway! This restaurant was no fast food restaurant, they had earned a Michelin star for a reason, but they still went ahead and allowed a customer to pick up food. Based on Lewis's background alone...

Lewis made sure that the manager just gave him the food and didn't expose the angry woman in the car, with the smell of food wafting into her nose. Astrid begrudgingly ate.

Lewis also ate his fill as Astrid put the last plate under the dome in the back, he smiled as Astrid seemed to be much happier now. As he grinned from a realization he then had.

"What?" Astrid had caught the look Lewis had on his face, it was unmissable, for some reason she felt slightly endangered...

"Ah, I was thinking of the pet I'm raising at home." Lewis calmly replied. The response seemed so natural, that it actually made Astrid narrow her eyes in suspicion.

"Oh." She didn't say anything else, as she calmed her thoughts down.

She had been collecting her thoughts since she woke up. She never would have expected herself to be open when she was drunk. She had definitely let her guard down, in her previous life she was a good drinker and knew her limits well. But since this world seemed to have stronger alcohol, she hadn't found her limit yet, and she was also influenced by her weakened thoughts at the time.

Yes, weakened thoughts. Love made a person's brain act in many ways. But as many people say, 'love makes people dumb'. While she didn't feel she loved Lewis per se, she was extremely comfortable around him, and had started to feel guilty for how she was...

She was planning to hide the state of her eyes for as long as she lived. It wasn't normal, and she was unconsciously afraid, afraid of becoming a lab rat once again...

Maybe Lewis noticed her feelings after she imploded her emotions when drunk. He didn't stop smiling the entire time he was driving, constantly looking over to Astrid and giving her a reassuring smile. He couldn't understand what Astrid had gone through, but he would need to wait until she was more comfortable with him.

Time flew, and before she knew it, Astrid was now driving into the gates of her home. The guard had immediately noticed her along with Lewis and allowed the entry. And now Lewis was calmly directing himself outside the house.

"Does anyone else know?" Lewis asked the question on his mind when he stopped the car.

Astrid glanced at Lewis, before opening the door. "Only Winoa, she is my greatest confident." Astrid said as she then closed the door. Uninterested in Lewis's response.

Lewis silently remembered that Leone had indeed said that they were good friends. But now he knew that they were connected closer than just friends.

Lewis knew if Astrid had placed her trust into someone then they would be reliable, he calmly got out of the car, and followed the woman dressed in his clothing...

Mrs. Tuhs was sitting watching a new drama that had been released. Mr. Tuhs was at work. While Francesca was around using the gym. But was currently doing yoga next to Mrs. Tuhs...

So imagine their faces when they see Astrid walk in wearing... A loose t-shirt and oversized joggers? It was a strange situation indeed.

Francesca especially was dumbfounded, she must have been going mad since she felt Astrid was looking better than normal! Her skin seemed smoother, and her eyes were brighter...

That was because Astrid wasn't wearing a mask to hide part of her beauty and her contacts were slightly different from normal. But she knew that the smirk on her mother's face was for one reason...

"Wow, have you been tamed my daughter?" Mrs. Tuhs's mood was evident by the shine in her eyes, she was slyly looking at the imposing man walking behind her daughter...

"Me, Tamed?" Astrid didn't say anything more than that, after experiencing the freedom of life, she would never be tamed again in her life...

Francesca coughed lightly, "Well..." Francesca only gave Astrid a look of her own. This look she took up was quite interesting to say the least...

"Alright, alright. Questions later, Andrea. Make sure we have snacks around." Mrs. Tuhs didn't dare tease her daughter much longer, worried that she might give up on the man who now was sitting beside her...

Lewis smiled as he took the tea Andrea offered. He wasn't going to say anything that was going to ruin his chances now.

"Is Anya asleep?" Astrid asked as she took some of the biscuits off the table. Forgetting her already full stomach.

"Yeah, she was quite sad you weren't here last night but she still slept. I'm starting to think she is turning more independent these days." Mrs. Tuhs spoke with a tinge of sadness but also pride. Her second daughter was growing up, she was sure she would be as beautiful and intelligent as Astrid.

Astrid nodded with a smile. She didn't mention that she had been secretly leaving Anya messages to work on her brain and also making her more independent. Of course she was lenient to her younger sister. But at the same time, she knew some of the dangers that could happen.

After Astrid finished eating some more and drinking some tea, she eventually decided to go and get changed. She finally realized that, despite how comfortable they were, the clothes weren't hers...

As soon as Astrid went into her room Mrs. Tuhs eyes lit up while looking at Lewis. Basically asking for an explanation of what happened...

Francesca left to go train, she wasn't interested in her friend's gossip.

Lewis explained some things like him and Astrid going on a date, Astrid had gotten pretty drunk and they then went home. But he didn't know about her planning to come home. But since Astrid never said she was going to France, his story was very believable for Mrs. Tuhs.

.......

"Are you sure the goods were intercepted?" Astrid had long changed and now was on the phone outside.

"Yes boss. The border between Ukraine and Russia had never been this heavily guarded before. Someone is definitely keeping the eye on our actions." The person who spoke was Russian. He was a big name in the underworld and controlled a lot of movement between Eastern Europe. But he spoke with fear and respect on the phone to a woman close to half his age.

Astrid took a toke of her ciggarette. Taking a few seconds to formulate a new plan. "For now half the guns being delivered but increase the drugs by 10%. Shift the shipment of guns through the Finland and Russia border." Astrid quickly gave her order Making the man on the other side feel awed.

"I don't have a lot of power in Finland but I know someone who can help out. He is trustworthy. Is there anything else you want done?" The man didn't even ask the reason for the drastic changes being made to the deliveries, he had that much faith in the woman he was talking to... Or was it fear?

"Keep an eye on the police in Russia, anything substantial make sure to notify me." Astrid spoke before hanging up and lighting another cigarette.

She went through 10 in an hour. Continuously smoking while in thought. And just a few meters away, Lewis had been watching.

As he saw her obvious brooding he sent a message through to some of his connections. He wanted some answers for questions he had...
