Chapter 19 Killing the Zombie Dog

Then, the price was, while Zhang Yanhang was intently checking the attribute list of the zombie dog, two zombie dogs raced towards him from both directions and bit into his left and right legs respectively.

"It's a Husky, no wonder it's so fierce, going straight for the neck," Zhang Yanhang stretched out both hands, grabbed the upper and lower jaws of the Husky Zombie with each, and with a burst of strength from his right hand holding the lower jaw, he tore it apart and threw it aside. His left hand, holding the upper jaw, gave a light twist, instantly breaking the neck of the Husky Zombie.

"So First Tier One Star monsters only give three Soul points, huh? Then why did the Goblin Merchant before count for thirty Soul points? Because it's an Elite?" Zhang Yanhang pondered about the Soul points while using the corpse of the Husky Zombie to whip the two zombie dogs biting his legs.

Bang! Bang! There were only two dull thuds from the purely fleshly collision, and the corpse of the Husky Zombie, like a giant hammer carried by a howling wind, directly smashed the two zombie dogs flying, hitting the pristine white walls on either side, bursting into two abstract yet eerily lifelike blossoms of blood.

"It must indeed be the Elite issue, since all the zombies I've encountered so far are labeled 'Ordinary.' By the way, is there some sort of Quality setting for these monsters?"

As Zhang Yanhang pondered, a Teacup Chihuahua Zombie barked and scuttled his way towards him from afar. Due to its small size, it couldn't reach Zhang Yanhang's calves like the Labrador and the Golden Retriever, so it targeted his combat boots instead.

At the instant the Teacup Chihuahua opened its mouth, Zhang Yanhang reflexively landed a forceful kick, neatly sending it flying.

Whack! After a brief low-altitude flight, the Teacup Chihuahua smashed against the wall turning into a mess of gore.

Similar cognitive process, but why was Zhang Yanhang's reaction so prompt this time?

Biting Zhang Yanhang was fine; he was protected by the Earth Spirit, so the zombie dogs couldn't breach his defense. However, biting the combat boots was an issue—after all, those boots, due to their comfort, lacked high defensive power and durability. What if they were damaged?

These were the only pair of shoes he had managed to acquire from a treasure box, the only pair he could wear. Plus, he needed these combat boots to complete his set attribute, so naturally, he couldn't let the zombie dogs bite them easily.

Even though the enemy was just a palm-sized Teacup Chihuahua, it was still a zombie dog and not to be underestimated.

After dealing with all the zombie dogs, Zhang Yanhang looked towards the deepest part of the room. There, an old lady zombie, missing her lower half and right arm, was slowly creeping towards his position, all the while emitting a choking roar as if caught between coughing and phlegm, making Zhang Yanhang feel an urge to rush over and rip out her trachea.

"These Zombie Dogs couldn't all have been raised by this old lady zombie, could they?"

Zhang Yanhang made a bold assumption based on the environment at the scene. The old lady zombie was originally intact, but later had her legs and right hand bitten off by a Husky, a Labrador, and a Golden Retriever. Afterwards, her lower half was gnawed on by four small Teacup dogs, leaving her in her current state.

"But I don't remember Zombie Dogs having the habit of eating zombies. Isn't it supposed to be just Lickers who eat zombies? Forget it, I'm too lazy to think about this useless question."

Looking around the room, Zhang Yanhang found a treasure box emitting a white glow next to the anti-theft door, presumably dropped by one of the Teacup dogs killed by the door.

"After all this trouble, I can finally head back. I feel sticky all over; I really want a shower..." Zhang Yanhang tore off his clothes soaked with zombie decay blood and threw them on the ground, figuring it didn't matter whether he wore a shirt or not in the Ashen World since there were no living humans anyway.

If it weren't for certain ethical and moral concerns, he wouldn't even want to wear pants since they too were smeared with the zombies' decaying blood.

Getting zombie blood on himself was really unavoidable because sometimes the zombies just hugged him, and Zhang Yanhang would usually escape this constraint by tearing their bodies apart, which resulted in him getting bathed in zombie blood.

At first, he thought he wouldn't be able to endure being soaked in zombie blood for a long time, but he was wrong. He underestimated himself and underestimated humans; after a while, he actually got used to the smell, proving that habit is truly a frightening force.

So, Zhang Yanhang's discomfort now stemmed not from the smell but from the sticky sensation of the wet clothes clinging to his body.

Of course, it's not that he started liking the smell after getting used to it; rather, it just wasn't as eye-watering or throat-choking as before.

Back in room 301, Zhang Yanhang didn't immediately sit on the old wooden bed because he was filthy, covered in zombie blood. So, he stood in the middle of the room and pondered an important question, "Should I take a bath? I only have bottled water, but luckily there's still a lot of it, and there's a huge supply in the supermarket next to the apartment."

"Wait, since I have the omnipotent power of alchemy, can I use that to substitute for a bath?" Right at that crisis moment, Zhang Yanhang remembered alchemy.

A Pentagram array, engraved with Alchemy runes, appeared instantly in his right hand. He lifted the Alchemy Array to his chest and gently swept it, directly peeling off the dried dark-red zombie blood and skin debris, which gathered into a dark-red small spot on the Array, while his chest returned to its original fair complexion.

"Is it really working? It seems I still underestimated alchemy." Zhang Yanhang remarked and then continued to manipulate the Alchemy Array to peel off the dirt from his body.

After Zhang Yanhang had swept his entire body, a smooth, round dark-red ball resembling an Elixir appeared in his palm. Unfortunately, he wasn't Jigong, possessing Great Power and the Arhat Fruit Position, so the mud he scrubbed off his body was just ordinary mud, unable to turn into a life-saving Leg-stretching and eye-popping pill.
