A TRAP

He finished first and stood outside, waiting for Nancy to finish with her business.

She'd managed to wipe off some of the stains on her uniform, but she could only do so much.

There were still visible stains, her school uniform was completely messed up.

Even with how she looked, Jeremy couldn't help but stare at her in admiration.

He sneaked behind her and placed his palms over her eyes.

"Jeremy" she said, knowing it was him instantly.

"how did you..." he started.

"oh pullease" she interjected, rolling her eyes.

"even in my dreams, even if I'm blind, I'll still know it's you. Your soft skin is a dead giveaway"

"ouch! you say that like it's a bad thing" he replied dryly.

"even with rotten eggs, you still look beautiful" Jeremy complimented grinning like an idiot.

"you don't look bad yourself" she replied and began to walk away.

"where are you going" Jeremy asked

"to the class"

"hold on!....do you think it's such a good idea?" Jeremy asked,

"I mean after what happened in there...they might do something worse"

"why do you care all of a sudden? she asked eyeing him"

"listen Jeremy... we're not enemies, but I don't want us getting too comfy alright? I don't want any trouble.

We both know you just don't want to be just friends Jeremy and I don't need trouble.

There are other girls in this school Jeremy....Look at Lisa for example"

Jeremy's eyes darkened at the mention of Lisa.

So she had a hand in all this mess.

Nancy continued oblivious to the change in Jeremy's countenance.

"Lisa is the perfect person for you Jeremy....

she's beautiful, sexy, rich, sophisticated, classic, everything you need in a girl is in her, show her love, I don't want any relationship now, not with you" Nancy finished and took off.

Jeremy couldn't believe his ears...where was all of this coming from?

He watched her walk away, his gaze darkened.

Those idiots had to pay for what they did to her... everyone of them.

He'd wanted to be friends with her first, but she saw through him and went straight to the point, instead of allowing him avoid it.

He headed in the direction of the principal's office.

Well someone had to report the idiots.

Nancy walked back to the classroom.

She couldn't go home now, the security men wouldn't let her get past the gates.

As she walked, she was in thought. She wondered what would be the reaction of other students?

Lisa's especially.

Apparently, he just wanted to land her in trouble. Why did he even have to hug her in class in the presence of everyone!

She sighed loudly. Well she couldn't go anywhere else so she'd just have to deal with it.

Suddenly, she felt her heart ache.

She could tell Jeremy was being a softie around her.

Why would he be nice anyway?

He was an official Jerk! The worst of his kind! Why in the world was he....

Then she paused.... unless he...No no no no she shook her head both physical and mentally....it's impossible!

No damn way...he couldn't like someone like her!

She was wayyy below his class! He had other better girls drooling over him!

Just the girls in class were a horde! Not to mention the ones she didn't know outside the school.

She looked at her fucked up school uniform and shook her head again.

Nope....it was not possible!

Hell no!

Then she laughed at herself....Ha! Nancy....the stench of the rotten eggs has finally gotten to your brains girl! stop thinking nonsense! she chided herself.

She felt a bit sad for saying those words to him, but she had to.

She knew the words would hurt him.

Here he was being awfully nice to her and she was shooting his niceties up his face.

She resisted the urge to run back to him and apologize then accept his request, but she held herself.

She'd never been the kind of person to do regrets plus, in the end, going back to him would bring her nothing but trouble.

She had no plans of loosing this one chance that luck had given to her.

Nope, not even for a handsome Adonis.

'get it together Nancy' she chided herself mentally.

She got to the class and found a lecture going on.

She entered the classroom after asking for permission, then she went straight to the seat she shared with Jeremy and sat without sparing anyone a glance.

She noticed Jeremy wasn't in his seat.

Not long after, Jeremy walked in, His face drawn and pale. He didn't even spare her a glance.

Oh he'd headed to the principal's office alright, but he was intercepted by her secretary, the green clothed lady he'd met on his first day.

He preferred calling her that than her name....it gave him a smug satisfaction.

She was sitting in front of the principal's desk, she seemed to be waiting.

Apparently, she still bored a grudge and took it as an opportunity to get back at him.

"she's not here" the lady said, the moment he walked through the doors.

"I'll wait" he had replied and proceeded to sit, then she threatened to put a black dot on his attitude report for the term.

Hell no...that was a sore spot for him.

His father wouldn't take it lightly.

He Left the office like a person who had an iced bucket of water emptied on his head.

He was going to return, but only after the witch had gone to somewhere else... wherever it was she disappeared to, when not summoned to do her duties.

Nancy wondered where he'd been.

She turned her head forward and focused on the teacher's lecture.

In a short time, the class was over and the teacher left.

"Nancy!" she heard Lisa call suddenly.

She turned to see the wicked witch of the west with a grin on her face.

"yyyeeess...." Nancy stuttered.

"I've got something to discuss with you" she replied, still flashing the blinding paparazzi smile she was wearing on her face.

"Nancy swallowed a lump in her throat and looked around nervously.

She glanced at Jeremy, he was busy on his phone and wasn't even bothered with looking at her he looked utterly unconcerned.

Nancy swallowed again"

"I believe you have ears bitch...so you can hear me clearly. Get your ass up and don't waste my time!" Lisa added, her voice rising an octave higher.

Nancy turned to stare at Jeremy again. She didn't know what she was hoping for.

Probably for him to come to her rescue ...or move.

Or do something..... anything.....but good ol' Jeremy still sat comfortably without raising his head to look at her.

Nancy walked out with her and they headed in the direction of the school field, quite a distance away from the classroom.

"Your name is Nancy am I right?" She asked, her Left hand akimbo.

"Yes" replied Nancy.

"Do you value your stay in this school?" She asked and Nancy nodded numbly.

She didn't know what Lisa was getting to.

"Staying in this school and befriending Jeremy, which do you prefer?" Lisa questioned, Nancy released a harsh breath.

She bunched up her fists.

"This school...my education" Nancy replied without hesitation.

"I prefer my stay in this school, I prefer my education, I don't love him and can't love him, stop all this shit and me with Jeremy? we are not what you're thinking.

he isn't in my heart, he's is the one forcing himself on me, he just wants to be a friend.... make him love you and stop maltreating me because I'm innocent, you are beautiful, you have all it takes is to make him love you, do it and he may fall for you, you are the most beautiful, make him notice you, I will vacate that seat for you, you can occupy it if you want, just please stop. I will stop talking to him if you wish" Nancy said, head bowed, releasing the flood dams of her eyes .

'Liar! Liar! Liar! Liar!' her head and heart screamed at her as she uttered each word.

He didn't Matter to her right?

Why did she feel so bad. Why did she feel like she was committing a sacrilege act of betrayal.

Suddenly, she began to pray he would never get to hear what she just uttered.

She was currently feeling like Judas Iscariot.

Now she got an idea of how the guy must have felt after he committed the deed.

Lisa's head swelled like a balloon that was getting air pumped into it rapidly.

Her pride grew bigger than the size of her head.

'its good the rat knows her place' she said to herself.

"Okay then, you are free, I will no longer bother you. Be a good girl and stay away from him" Lisa said suddenly.

"wait what? just like that" Nancy asked, shocked at the words Lisa had just uttered.

"you're just going to leave me alone? Just like that?"

"of course darling... I've gotten what i want" Lisa replied, producing a concealed recorder.

She'd hidden it in her pocket all along!

Nancy was stunned beyond her wits.

'why you sneaky bastard' Nancy cursed, not out loud though, she wouldn't dare.

"I just recorded all you said so he will know you don't love him" Lisa said with a lopsided smile, her brows raised.
