Teaching a lesson

Shelly came home and saw Alex waiting for her. She comes and sits down next to him.

"I heard that you did not come to school today." Shelly said.

"Yeah,I had something going on." Alex did not want to talk about Austin. Shelly sensed that Alex didn't want to talk abut it so she moved on.

"How long will you take a leave? Will you come tomorrow?" Shelly asked.

'Please, please please don't come tomorrow.' Shelly wished.

"I will be done with my stuff by tomorrow afternoon. I will come to school from the day after." Alex answered.

'I can move the stuff by afternoon. I will unpack all the stuff in the weekend.' She'll was relived by this.

'I at least have time to figure something out. If I can't, then I can just warn Alex about this. I can also report school about this.' As Shelly thought of this she suddenly slaps her forehead in realisation.

'Aah..I am so stupid. I had my phone out but didn't record their conversation for evidence.' Shelly mocks her idiocy.

"What happened?" Alex asked her after seeing her suddenly slap her forehead.

"No-nothing happened. I just remembered something." Shelly quickly spun a tale and then they started studying.

After Alex went back; Shelly sat in her bed trying to think of solutions.

'I can tell the school. But I cannot prove anything without evidence and even if they believe me, how will they punish Brad? Suspension or expulsion?' She frowned at the thought of possible punishments.

'They are too light. Police may do something more but even they won't do much as Brad is a minor.' Shelly suddenly remembers something and quickly checks her phone. She found a 'security company' from the internet.

The Rock Scorpion security company. This company provides bodyguards for people. It is owned by the Rock Scorpion gang which is one of the biggest gang right now in the Whitehill city. It might be the strongest gang within few years.

'Although they seem like a decent company, they are just gangsters in the end.' Shelly dials the number. She doesn't use a public phone to cover traces or use voice changer as she is obviously new to this.

"Hello, who is this?" A rough but polite voice comes from the other side.

"Is this the Rock Scorpion security company?" Shelly asks.

"What else did you expect?" The voice from other side said.

"I want to hire you to beat up few street punks." Shelly said.

"Little girl, don't you know that we are a security company not hired thugs?" The voice said.

"I know. They are planning to attack my friend. I am pay 1k credits for this job." Shelly told her reasoning and gave her offer.

"How many people? Do that belong to any gang?" The voice was interested in the offer as it would be easy money.

"There should be 3-4 teens and a high school boy. They do not belong to any gang. And the school boy also doesn't have any background." Shelly explained. The man on the other side took the job and Shelly sent the place where they planned to attack Alex and Brad's photo which she found from the school's website where they posted the class pics of each year.

Shelly went back to studying after she gave the details. 'I wonder what Alex had to do?' She started getting distracted by Alex.

Lina walks into Shelly's room.

"Shelly can we talk?" She asks.

"Yeah, what happened mom?" Shelly saw that her mother was a bit serious and sat in a straighter posture.

"Dear, you have completed middle school and started the high school. You may think that you are grown up with this; and that is true to some extent but you have to realise that you have not experienced the society yet." Shelly was confused on why her mother was saying these things. But Lina's serious expression made her listen to her without interrupting.

"It is time for you to make your own decisions but I hope that you will talk to us before doing it. You are not a kid anymore but a young adult so you should start being responsible for what ever you do and say but you are not a fully grown adult so do not think that you fully know the consequences for your actions."

"I can see that you are interested in Alex." Shelly's eyes widen and she looks at her mom in shock.

"Wha-what are y-you talking about?" She stutters and blushes faintly.

"You do know that I am your mother right?" Lina says.

"Th-this, I-we, it's not-" Shelly tries to say something to deny her, Lina raises her hand and stops her.

"You don't need to explain. You are have a crush on Alex. I won't interfere with what you do with this as long as you do not cross the line. You should know that Alex is older than you so he will be going to college in another city a year before you and you won't be able to meet him. Getting interested in opposite gender is common at this age. You can date him as long as you don't compromise your grades, don't spend too much money and most importantly don't lose your first time." Lina gets up and walks to the door.

"Take some time to think about it." Lina walks out of the room leaving a dumbfounded and speechless Shelly.

After a while....

She knows....

'SHE KNOWS!!!'

Shelly lays on her bed and burns her face in her pillow while kicking up legs.

'Am I so obvious? When did she know this?' Shelly's face was flushed due to having her secret exposed. She calms down after sometime and thinks about what Lina has told her.

'She is okay with me dating? Aren't all parents supposed to be against that during school?'

'Does that mean she accepts Alex? What about dad? Does he know? He should know as mom would never keep her mouth shut in front of him.' Shelly felt happy from the bottom of her heart that her parents accepted him.

Meanwhile,Alex did his job and took his luggage bag form the new place and went to his old apartment. As expected p, there was no one there to see him bring a bag into his room. He quickly packs up all the things he had in to his bag. He then took a look at the apartment.

'This is the first place I stayed at on my own. I won't miss this at all.' Alex reminisced about all the struggles he faced when he just got out of orphanage and how he overcame them. He hit the bed and fell asleep.
