A perfect date

Hearing Noah's question, Laila turned her upper body around in shock. Did he just say that it was HER handiwork?! While Laila was looking over Noah's office with new eyes, now that she had found out she had been the one to design his office, Noah continued his words. "I can't blame you for admiring it though. You did an amazing job here. I catch myself drifting off in my thoughts as I stare at one of the many small and larger personalized items you have put here. No matter how busy I am, I always manage to find a moment to look at your wonderful work and I am instantly reminded of you, my equally wonderful wife. I always feel like this room is your daily love letter to me, just like how you always say the garden is my love letter to you."

Laila felt another smile coming onto her face as she heard the sweet words Noah was saying and she could see what he meant. It indeed seemed more like a love declaration than just a design for an office. Laila was happy that Noah was still the guy who managed to see the message behind her actions and gestures, and was someone who could appreciate them. She turned her body around fully in order to give Noah a big hug for what he had said. "Thank you. I am happy to hear that you enjoy this office as much as I have enjoyed designing it. I have certainly poured all my love in it. So, your feeling of this being a love letter, is accurate and undeniable."

Looking up from his arms, with innocent looking eyes, Laila asked, "How about the garden? Is that indeed a love letter to me?" Noah chuckled as he pinched her cheek and said, "What do you think? I don't think I could have made it any clearer unless I spelled out the shape of the words 'I love you' with the flowers." Laila let out a soft laugh as she said, "I know. I just wanted to make sure." She patted his chest softly, gesturing for Noah to let go as she said, "Well enough horsing around, let's start eating before it all gets cold." With an offended gasp Noah said, "Is declaring my love nothing but a joke to you?! My heart is shattered beyond repair." Laila gave Noah a playful push as she laughed at his silly remark. With a wink Laila gave Noah a witty comeback to his dramatic act. "Being married to a silly fool like you, it is to be expected that your love would resemble a joke from time to time."

Noah put his hands in his pockets as he walked after Laila, who had already made her way to his desk and was unpacking the basket and shopper that contained her cooking. In a chuckle he said, "I concede. I am indeed no match for my smart wife. Even when I think I have you cornered and feeling guilty, expecting some extra love as compensation, you find a way to switch it back around. You are a worthy adversary."

Laila had opened most of the Tupperware containers and had spread them out over the large, dark coloured, desk, when she said with taunting eyes and a playful smile, "It is alright dear. As long as you realize your limits now. We can't all be winners." Again Noah had been defeated by Laila's quick-witted answer, leaving him with no other option than accepting his defeat. Seeing the large spread his wife had prepared for their date, Noah was deeply impressed. "I thought you said that you would be preparing dinner for tonight. Are you telling me that you made all of this yourself?!" Laila nodded a bit shyly.

With large eyes Noah looked at the many different dishes and he noticed that they were all his favourites. These weren't just his favourites from now but also his favourites from way back when. But not only had Laila remembered all of this, which was impressive in itself, but she had managed to make all of them by herself. Seeing this, Noah felt a warm feeling sprout from his heart and spread over his entire body. Not only had he gotten a date that was brought to him and was planned solely by his wife, as he was too busy these days, it was a date that was basically another declaration of love spelled out in food. It was so thoughtful, so filled with hard work and oh so perfect. At that moment, Noah was feeling like the luckiest guy on the planet. He had married a person who was not only beautiful, she was also kind, loving and his best friend. If this wasn't considered a perfect match, he didn't know what was and he didn't care to know either.

He reached over the table and placed his hand behind Laila's neck before pulling her in for a kiss that would convey all that he was feeling at that moment. With eyes that were clearly touched by what Laila had prepared for him, Noah said with a slightly cracked voice and soft smile, "Thank you." Nothing more. Just those two words and that kiss said all that he had to say. Which Laila responded to with a two worded response of her own, "You're welcome.", and a smile that let him know that she had understood what he had tried to convey. Adding another perfect moment to a date that was perfect so far as well.
