That little piece of heaven

Laila couldn't stop smiling after leaving Noah's office. Everything had worked out well and she felt happy with how this day had gone. That is of course aside of what had happened with Fiona, which still worried Laila a bit and also reminded her of what she should do. Since worrying alone wouldn't change anything and they had Rina on their side to keep the damage to a minimum, there was something more important that she should be focussing on. Getting things in order for her girl's trip that would be starting tomorrow already!

On the ride back home, Laila took care of all she needed to take care of. Laila searched the internet for tickets, after figuring out what the nearest airport for her was. She contacted Maria in order to let her know that Noah had been convinced and she had booked a flight out for tomorrow. She texted, "I will meet you at that little piece of heaven on earth, surrounded by those sun coloured bricks, tomorrow at 13:00!" As soon as that message was sent, Laila began feeling excited at reuniting with Maria and going back to that wonderful little house on the hill. In her mind she was already thinking of what to pack for her girl's week and looking forward to what Maria might have planned for them.

Once she arrived home, it was already dark out and most of the staff had already left for the night. Laila greeted the few that were still here and rushed up the stairs to her and Noah's room. She opened each of the closet doors until she found a small, light blue suitcase, which she assumed was hers considering that was her favourite colour. Again she was faced by a lock with a code but now she felt less frustration and panic at seeing that as she had possible combinations that she could try. Unlike the time with her laptop. In just two tries the suitcase was unlocked and the packing could begin!

She hadn't really looked at what was in her closet till now as she had grabbed the first thing that she could grab yesterday morning and this morning. She did browse a bit for the date outfit but the evening dresses were kept in a different part of their closet than her everyday clothes. Now she would have a good look at what was in here for the first time since she started living in this timeline. Clothes say a lot about a person. So, this would allow her to get to know the Laila she was in this life a bit better. She put on a bit of playful music, changed her tight dress for some loose, silk pyjama shorts with matching top, and grabbed the first piece of clothing from the large closet in front of her.

As she grabbed each item and unfolded them to get a good look, she was very pleased with what she saw. It seemed she hadn't lost her sense of style in this timeline and maybe she had even developed an even better sense of style. One that befitted someone studying fashion and design. She held the different items from her closet in front of her body as she looked at herself in the mirror. She was striking different poses, trying to decide what to bring along and what to keep in mind for when she would come back home.

It was two hours later when Laila had finished looking at the clothes in her closet and she had finally decided what to bring along. As she looked at the mess she had created, with scattered clothes all across her room, Laila let out a sigh thinking about having to clean all of that up after she was done. As she reluctantly got up from the floor in order to start the actual packing, she let out another deep breath and dusted off the back of her pyjama bottoms. Once she had fitted all the clothes she wanted to bring along in the small suitcase that she had prepared for the trip, she placed her weight on it in order to zip it up.

Despite only going for a week, Laila had packed enough outfits that would last her a trip twice that long. Laila justified this by telling herself that she had to bring all of this along because she didn't know what Maria had planned for the two of them. So, she would need to be prepared for anything and everything, plus have a backup in case Maria didn't approve or she herself needed options. In reality, it had more to do with her falling in love with too many outfits and being unable and unwilling to decide which to leave behind. So, instead she brought more than she would be able to wear.

She had just managed to close the zipper all the way, when she remembered that she hadn't packed her toiletries yet and she couldn't take that much fluid in her hand luggage. Laila let out disgruntled 'Ughh' and dropped herself on her suitcase from exhaustion from the thought of having to go through that all over again, before getting up once more in order to grab the items she had forgotten.
