I'm Sorry

With traces of her tears still in her eyes Laila looked at Noah as she chuckled from her overflowing feelings of joy. She had never felt so happy before and she couldn't stop smiling. While holding Noah's hands in her own, Laila said, "You know I told myself that exact same thing. That there is nobody for me but you. So when I heard you say that, I couldn't believe my ears for a second. If this isn't proof that you are my soulmate, what is?"

Noah smiled back at Laila and now more than ever he felt like he had made the right decision in taking that first step. From Laila's reaction it was clear just how much she had been affected by his decision to take some time apart in order for him to think things over. Even now her eyes were still red from the tears she had been fighting back. Even though it had only been a little over a week, he could tell how much weight she had lost and her long nap along with the dark circles underneath her eyes proved just how much it had affect her sleep. He was just glad he didn't take too much time and took action before matters got too bad. None of this had been good for either of them nor could it have been well for their unborn son.

With an apologetic look in his eyes he lifted one of Laila's hand up to his lips and place a kiss on the back of her hand before he placed a second one on her belly, which was still mostly covered by the blanket she had been sleeping under. Then he said, "I meant what I said and I don't need any proof at all to know that you are indeed my soulmate." After that, without thinking, relying solely on instinct and raw emotion, the desire of wanting to comfort Laila and hold her in his arms, he placed a soft kiss on Laila's lips. He broke their lips apart and looked at Laila for a moment, letting their eyes do the talking. By the time that Laila had closed her eyes halfway, Noah's lips were locked back onto hers.

Soon the kissing turned more passionate and the little clothes Laila had on had been discarded. Less than half an hour of her getting up from under the covers, she found herself back underneath them. But this time she wasn't alone and she certainly wasn't sleeping. It seemed that Noah's was letting his body do the talking that his mouth couldn't. His eyes whispered "I'm sorry", his kisses said "I love you" and his touch screamed "I have missed you".

After making up for lost time and then some, Laila was lying in Noah's arms with her head resting against his bare chest. Eight days later they had done what Laila imagined would have happened the moment after their return home if she hadn't been so sleep deprived. She was feeling tired in a different way from before but she was feeling happier than ever. She had told Noah the truth, he had accepted it and they had officially made up. Everything else would be up to her, Noah and fate. She for one would certainly give her all to prove to Noah that he had been right to forgive her and give them as a couple a second chance.

Noah was leaning against the backboard of the bed and was holding on tightly. Both of them finally feeling relaxed after a torturous week apart. As he was holding her Noah said the words he couldn't say before. "I want you to know that I'm really sorry for hurting you like this." Laila looked up and was surprised to hear these words. She didn't feel that Noah was in the wrong at all. Though she was sad, she understood his reaction completely. She certainly would be upset and in need of some time if she had been told something as absurd and life changing as what she had told him. Her week had been tough but she had just turned his life upside down and he had been able to accept that in just eight days. On the whole, compared to how long he had been married to the Laila that she was just a few short weeks ago, eight days was nothing even though it felt like an eternity while she was going through it.

"I was just confused and I needed time to process but I realize now that I should have handled it differently. I shouldn't have left you alone all this time, especially with you being pregnant and being in such an emotionally vulnerable state. Not only did you just have your confrontation with Jake, probably making you relive past events, and having to part with Maria for a second time in such a short time, which couldn't have been easy either. But after all that, on the day of our return you had your biggest secret come out and suddenly you lost my presence in your life as well. Being left all alone in this big house to deal with those emotions and events. That wasn't fair to you and I promise that I will make it up to us. The time we have lost as a couple, I will repay it to you."

Laila smiled at Noah and placed her hand on the side of his face when he was done speaking. She pulled his face down and placed a kiss on his lips. While their faces were just an inch apart and while she was looking straight into his eyes, Laila said, "You deciding to come back to me is all the repayment I need." After that the flame they had thought had been extinguished was fired up once more and with newfound energy they let their bodies express the love they felt for each other.
