An uneasy feeling

Olivia didn't understand why Jake was sounding so upset. She didn't feel like anything she had done that day was much of a big deal. She had been with them almost every second of their visit, she has camera's in multiple rooms and they don't know which, AND there was multiple staff members present all around the house. So what if she did tell them that she had been in touch with Jake? What can they do with that piece of information. For all they know they are simply high school classmates that happened to find each other again through an unexpected mutual friend. As if a person would draw a conclusion so farfetched that she was in contact with him because of some big scheme to get rid of Laila? At least so she thought.

With a tone as arrogant and condescending as always, Olivia replied, "Well, who else was I supposed to have heard it from?" This is when Jake officially lost it. He yelled out, "You idiot! I knew you weren't very smart but I didn't think that you would be that stupid. Now that you have given them my name, they know that I am up to something. There is no way that they won't come for me now or my father's company. How can you be so gullible as to believe that your little party trick caused him to want to leave her? Don't you remember me telling you that he was there? He was the one who ruined me in the first place. Him and that pesky friend of his. He knew everything and he played you like a damn fool and now you have ruined our chances."

Although Olivia was feeling a bit of panic rising in her, she refused to give Jake the satisfaction. She was not one to admit a mistake, regardless of if she had made the mistake or not. After a loud swallowing, Olivia tried to insist that there was nothing to worry about but her voice didn't have the same confidence as she said, "Even if he knew some of it, maybe he didn't know all of it. I know how to use information to my advantage. You only just showed up. Me and Harrold have been doing things this way long before you came along. Just because you didn't want your crushing defeat discussed in front of the woman you are pining for, doesn't mean that you can talk that way to me or about my victory. We call people like you sore losers and salty."

After her digging at Jake's ego, bruising it like she felt hers was by the words said before, she said, "But if you insist on being a worry wart, I can go check the footage from last night and see if there is any suspicious behaviour. See if I can see them placing anything, taking anything. I doubt it but I'll do it to set your mind at ease that your delicate little tooshie won't have to anticipate another whooping by Noah."

Noah felt pretty annoyed at Olivia's words but he couldn't defy them as it was partially true. He didn't like having his loss discussed in front of Laila and especially not when she is with that bastard Noah. So, all he said in response to Olivia's words was, "Yeah, you go ahead and do that. You will see that you won't be the last one to laugh and I'll look forward to the face you'll make when you see that you have been fooled." After that he hung up the phone and Olivia rushed up the stairs to her laptop.

Though she had pretended that her looking up the footage from last night was all for him and his ass but the only ass she was trying to save, was her own. She needed to be sure that she hadn't been fooled by Laila. Even though she considered it very unlikely and she told herself that she didn't even think it was possible, as she felt that Laila was quite stupid, she still had a bit of an uneasy feeling after her talk with Jake. Though she didn't think that Laila was smart enough to figure her out, she did wonder if things had gone too well last night. If it had been too easy. But at the same time, she had been able to fool Laila for so long and wondering what could have been enough to change that? As Olivia fought that internal battle of who had been more stupid in that situation and if she had really been played by Noah, the man in question had been informed of her call and was taking steps as this was going on.

After they had copied and taken over Olivia's phone, they had used their little backdoor to make some changes. They had set triggers for them to receive an alarm whenever she would make a call or receive one. The conversation would automatically be recorded and sent to them. If they logged in, they would even be able to listen in live. So, when they saw her call and the attached number, Noah became intrigued enough to want to listen as the talk was taking place. When he heard that the person on the other line was indeed the one he thought it was, he immediately buzzed Steve in and let him listen to the call as well. The moment the footage was mentioned, that is when they exchanged some looks and came into action.
