Consequences

"While one officer watched James, I began talking with Andrew with the other officer as the witness. I asked him if he was really innocent, why did he run away to all the way over here? Why he didn't come in to work? He of course claimed that he knew he would get blamed for things he didn't do and that is why he ran away to prevent him being wrongfully accused. That is when I asked him about his key card. Why the card had been used on a day that he wasn't at work. He stammered and claimed that he had lost it a few days prior and that he didn't know who had stolen his card but that this person had to be the one responsible for what had happened. I laughed and said, 'How convenient' before I asked, 'If you had lost it a few days prior, how did you managed to come to the office yesterday and the day before that? Why didn't you report a lost or stolen card?'."

The shadow was very impressed with Max's line of questioning and looked at Noah with a look that asked, 'How is he so good at this?', to which Noah replied in a whisper, "His father is a cop and his mom a judge. So, he watches a lot of TV judges, Judge Judy being his favourite. He has clearly taken his style of questioning from here, including the laughing at stupid answers." Amused at this piece of information, the shadow found Max's story even more entertaining than before he knew this.

"Of course he had no answer for that and after some stammering stopped talking altogether as he asked for a lawyer. The officers there then took both James and Andrew into custody and made arrangements for them to be transferred to our local police department, so that all the cowards and rats can be prosecuted at the same courthouse, by the same prosecutor and with the same judge. That way it will all be treated as one case instead of separate cases for each of their offences."

Noah nodded before he said, "Well done. Both on finding these two and the arrangements you made. I can always count on you to make things more efficient for everyone. Thank you for that." After he told Max a bit more on his side of events, he told him, "We arrived at the escape house belonging to Olivia and we will be heading back home in the chopper in a few minutes. I'll contact you once I land so that we can go over what else needs to be taken care of."

Max nodded and said, "No problem. I'll be arriving to town shortly myself. I will go check in on the matters at the office before I will head to my apartment and rest up for a bit until you get here as well." After this agreement was made, they said their goodbyes and ended the call. Both of them getting ready for the next item on their list.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After Noah finished his calls with the bodyguard and with Max, filling the latter in on what had happened with the mission he had assigned the bodyguard and the one he had assigned to himself, he stepped inside the chopper to fly back to where Laila and the others were. During that conversation Max told him that he was also quite annoyed with what Olivia had done. He couldn't help but feel that she was getting away with things a little too easily, which didn't seem right to him. Something he expressed very clearly before they ended their conversation from before. He told Noah that he should reconsider letting her off like this and punish her as well. He said that just because there had been a lack of consequences for Harold's capture from her actions, that should not mean that there should be no repercussions for the malice and lack of care for their success that she had shown.
Noah knew that Max was right and the more he thought about it, the more angry it made him. Although Olivia's message to Harold had been short and concise, it had been enough to thwart Noah's plan. So, he was reasonably upset and the mercy he first planned on showing to Olivia, was now slowly being turned into a need to get even. He wanted her to see that actions have consequences and that making repeated bad decisions, can get you in a world of trouble. So, after he had called Max and the bodyguard, getting the good news he had been waiting and hoping for, and after some thinking, he sent Anthony a message. Allowing him to put some things into motion for Olivia to get her due punishment as well.
