Regain her composure

After a brief silence Noah then said, "Maybe instead of that, we can use that information to make sure her parents stay out of our way while we get even with Olivia. Perhaps they can even give us even more useful information about her and Harold, since their relationship goes back much further. Who knows, they might even be able to forge a deal out of it to save their own asses. However, if they decide to stand in our way and cause trouble, then we can hand the information we have found over to the authorities directly and do so with an easy consciousness. But for now, let's let Joe decide what the best course of action is for us from here on out. We have done our part, now it is time to leave it in the hands of the person who understands the law best. He can use what we have gathered to inflict the most amount of suffering as way of punishment."

Anthony felt some shivers from hearing those last words. He had seen Joe in action just once and it had been a frightening sight to see. Although he was nice to all of them, he certainly wasn't nice to the people he faced during court, if the case even made it to court that is. In front of a judge, he spared no one and nothing. He was ruthless, merciless, and used every letter of the law to make sure you got your due justice. He would ensure the person at fault got the severest form of punishment for the crime committed and he would make them realize the error of their ways all at the same time. If regret didn't come when you heard his name, it would come when you were standing face to face with him and even more so by the time he was done with you.

So, Anthony had no doubt that Joe would do the same with this case and perhaps do even more, considering who had been involved and the gravity of the crime. Anyone who came after his family should feel happy if they were able to leave with their lives and the clothes they came with. Anything else was up for grabs. But fortunately, the people he did that to, usually deserved it. This case was no different. So, although he felt some shivers, he felt no pity.

While the case was left in Joe's hand and there were no other tasks for Anthony at the moment, the rest of his afternoon suddenly became free, and he already knew who he wanted to spend it with. The phone had been on speaker while he was talking with Noah, and Rebecca had heard all that had been said between them. So, when the conversation was over, Anthony turned around and looked at her, but she turned away. She became somewhat flustered on her own after hearing that there would be nothing to do for them and got ready to leave. She got up from the couch and said, "Well, I guess there is no reason for me to be staying here. I am sure you must be tired or have other things to do instead of entertaining me. I'll get going."

She was walking around and saying these things on her own while Anthony just waited in silence for Rebecca's panicked rant to stop. He knew that she tended to worry over nothing and stand in her own way when it came to certain situations. In those situations, he wanted to let her calm down on her own if possible, instead of him intervening right off the bat. Sure enough, after a few seconds, she stopped in the middle of her sentence as she realized yet another thing. She turned around as she suddenly remembered that her coat had been hung up far outside of her reach. So, she was forced to ask Anthony for help if she wanted to be able to leave. That is when she bumped into the tall man, who was more than a friend but not yet a lover and had been standing there for that exact moment. As he of course already knew that she would need her coat and wouldn't be able to get to it without his help. Though the bump in itself was not something he had necessarily counted on.

Their large height difference, of almost half a meter, and her unexpected turn caused her nose to bump into the lower part of Anthony's chest. In turn she did not expect him to suddenly be standing there and took a step back as she rubbed her sore nose. Then she looked up and saw the look on Anthony's face, who had been patiently waiting for her to regain her composure.
