Harold had proven that an arrogant man, is a careless man. Olivia was proving that the same applied to women. She too had made a poor choice in betraying the chance she had been given by Noah. After Anthony had found out she had contacted Harold when Noah was waiting for him at Olivia's parents' vacation home, Noah had decided that she too deserved to be punished. When he heard what Anthony had found on her laptop and combining it with what he and Steve had already managed to retrieve, Joe had been preparing to have her and her parents served with a lawsuit as well. During this time, Noah continued to have her monitored by someone at I.E., in case she contacted the prison where Harold was being held or did something stupid to incriminate herself even further.
Just like Harold, she didn't think she would get caught. At least not a second time. She thought that her act in front of Noah had been enough to rid her of any blame for things she been caught for and what she had been caught for, were in her eyes, nothing illegal. Noah was happy to let her continue to believe she had gotten away with everything, because he wanted to experience the feeling of having the rug pulled out from under you when she was served with the papers from the court. He wanted her to experience the feeling of dread and fear he imagined Laila must have been feeling because of her and Harold's twisted plans.
Today Max told him that among the papers in Harold's warehouse, there was also proof of Olivia's involvement. Solidifying the case they had against her. They called Joe to let him know about the findings and to let him know that everything would be sent to his buddy at the district attorney's office. "That is great news you two. Now that everything needed is complete, we can go ahead and have her brought in as well. Even though we couldn't use the information you illegally obtained from her laptop, we have now found grounds to obtain a search warrant and 'find' the information legally. Since there is no law preventing the justice department from hiring you as their experts, I imagine that 'search' won't have to take long."
Noah and Max exhaled laughed through their nose after Joe told them this. They were amazed to see the workings of a great mind like his and couldn't wait to see Harold and Olivia's dumb faces as they discovered who had become their undoing. But Joe wasn't done speaking and he cleared his throat before he added, "Actually, I was planning on calling you today myself. The date for Harold's preliminary hearing has been decided. Next Tuesday they will be deciding bail, which we will of course make sure is denied, and shortly after that, his trial will start. With this extra information, I can't imagine any judge awarding him any type of bail. Especially considering he has proven to be a flight risk. "
Noah nodded, as did Max. They too couldn't imagine him or his goons being allowed to set foot outside of their holding cell ever again after giving everyone such a hard time catching them. The only one who might potentially be granted bail, would be Olivia. But that was a concern for later as she hadn't even been brought in yet. So, instead of worrying about that, Noah decided to make himself useful. He asked, "Is there anything you need me or anyone from my team to do? Can we help in any way?"
But Joe said they couldn't. Worse yet, Joe's answer to Noah's questions would show that neither Noah, nor anyone from their side, would be able to witness the dumb expressions he looked forward to as Harold and Olivia discovered the news of their discovery. As much as they all might want to. Because Joe considered it too risky and imagined that it would do more harm than good to their case. He said, "You have done enough for now. All you can do is wait as this thing goes to court. We don't plan on taking it easy on them and any plea deal that will be offered to them, should they ask for one, will be a harsh one. But once it is time for you to testify, I will let you know. Of course I will also keep you updated to how the trial is going once it starts. For now I just don't think it is smart for any of you to attend when it isn't necessary, as it might bring more tension to the situation and could potentially put you in harm's way again if you get too close. Besides, you not being there, and not paying him any attention, will hurt him mentally more than anything you can say should you attend any of the hearings."
Noah wasn't exactly happy with Joe's advice, but he trusted him. Joe had always given him great advice whenever he needed it, whether he had asked for it or not. So, since he had offered his advice in this situation, he would trust him once more. Despite how he felt about the situation inside.
