The man tapped Olivia on the shoulder. He chose this manner to get her attention well, because it resulted in the response he counted on. It is human reflex to turn around when one is tapped on the shoulder, and as she did, almost immediately a liquid was thrown in her face. Before she could respond, the liquid began to burn and she started to scream.

Everything had happened so fast and so much had happened at the same time, that there was no way to prevent this. Immediately everyone was alarmed by her screams and they made their way over to where she was, among which were two paramedics. Fortunately the police and the group provided for by I.E. had been prepared for an attack and had made sure that a medical team was on stand-by. So, the moment it was clear that something had happened, they could charge in and take action.

The paramedics rushed over and immediately took Olivia inside the ambulance where one of them would be performing emergency treatment while the other would sped off with blaring sirens to the nearest hospital. Olivia's mother, who had come to the courthouse to support her husband and daughter, witnessed the scene as well and was able to board the ambulance in order stay by Olivia's side. Although her father wanted to do the same, as a person suspect of a crime and in custody of the police, he couldn't just walk off like he was a free man. Fortunately for him, one of the officers on standby near the courthouse came to the scene to see if he could help, and offered to take Olivia's father to the hospital.

Under normal circumstances this wouldn't be allowed so easily, but with his daughter in her current condition, the officers responsible for him, doubted he would be a big flight risk. With an officer by his side, they all agreed that there wasn't much harm in letting a worried father be with his injured daughter. Of course Olivia's father accepted this offer immediately and quickly stepped inside his car, before they too sped off accompanied by blue lights and sirens.

At the same time as all of this was going on, two of the private hired guards chased after the man who threw the liquid as he of course ran away immediately after the fact. The man was fast and seemed to know the area well, as he ran into small alleyways and jumped over random fences. Something which would only make sense if he knew where they would lead him. It was close, but after a long chase, which soon became a battle of endurance, they finally managed to catch the last attacker.

Along with his accomplices, the young man was brought to the police station in the very same van that had brought Olivia to the courthouse. Since it was no longer needed to transport Olivia and her father, with them being at the hospital and the trial being postponed and all, it was perfect for the current situation.

At the police station, the colleagues of the officers in question, were surprised to see them arrive with very other people than those they had left with. They didn't understand what had happened, although they had heard bits and pieces communicated over the police radio. Although the two officers that had walked in with the group of young men had been present at the scene, they too were quite confused at the day's events. It had gone so very differently from what they had anticipated and with things happening so fast, it usually took some time for everything to land. They needed a mental switch. because while they had prepared themselves for one type of hearing this morning, they had now found themselves in very different one. A type that was performed by them, instead of a judge.

As the young men were brought in one by one, each was being placed in a different interrogation room or closed of waiting cell, in order to prevent them from corroborating their stories. They were kept apart until the officers had questioned each and everyone of them about the events in front of the courthouse. Asking them what they were doing there. Why they did what they did. If they had been asked or paid by someone to do it. If they knew each other. If they were working together. All these questions were necessary to understand what had happened and who they had to blame for it. Or a better way to put it would be that they were asking these questions to confirm what had happened, because in reality they already knew the answers to both questions.

At the hospital Olivia was being treated for second degree and third degree chemical burn wounds. Fortunately because of the emergency treatment and the natural human reflexes her eyes weren't permanently damaged, but the doctor did inform her that it was likely to leave scarring. The chemical used was strong and her skin was already quite fragile because of all the work she had done to her face. As she was processing this news, her mind was also filled with thoughts about the person who was responsible for these injuries as she needed and wanted answers.
