Knock, knock

Things took up speed in the trial against Olivia due to the Joker's confession. His words lead to more charges being added to Olivia's case and with the unsurmountable evidence this brought against her, it didn't take long for her to receive a 'guilty' sentence. She was ordered to serve jailtime. In Olivia's case, as she had no prior convictions, she was sentenced to fifteen years with the possibility of parole after 10 years served and good behaviour. Although Noah and the others would have wanted to see her be put away for life for what she had done, for Olivia it already felt that way the moment she heard what her punishment would be. Another 'upside' to her sentence for Noah and the others was, that there was still a chance of her spending her entire life locked up because of the additional condition that had been set with alongside of her release from prison.

Because of her reason to attack Laila and the testimonies of Maria, as well as recordings of things she had said prior to the attack, the judge had deemed her dangerous to herself and society. This resulted in Olivia also being ordered to have a psychiatric evaluation before a release from prison would even be considered. Only after being cleared by a medical professional could Olivia be remotely trusted to roam freely in the eyes of the court. So, after she had served the time she had been sentenced to, Olivia would have to pass another ordeal. One that she seemed unlikely to pass in the eyes of those who knew her. If she wasn't able to pass that evaluation, Olivia would be transferred from prison to a psychiatric institution for mandatory admission until she had taken her last breath or had proven she was no longer a threat to herself and society.

But of course Noah had no intention of leaving the level of punishment that Olivia would receive, up to chance. With her level of manipulation, there was no telling of what the outcome would be, however unlikely it might seem now. So, another reason why Noah and the others weren't too disappointed with Olivia's sentence, was because they had no intention of letting prison be her only punishment. Noah had arranged for a different person each day to pay Olivia a visit for as long as Laila remained unconscious. After that, he planned to reduce the frequency to once a week, changing the days and times, so she would never know when it would come and live in constant fear. Back then he didn't think Laila would remain unconscious for this long, but he didn't pity Olivia because of this. In fact, it only fuelled his anger. He imagined that by now she was a mere shell of the person she once was and only a shadow of the person she imagined herself to be.

With her father being convicted as well, he had lost all his fortune as all his bank accounts were frozen and all his remaining assets sold to pay for the damages both he and Olivia had to pay as a compensation for their crimes. Although Noah didn't care about the money, having plenty of his own, the thought that Olivia would have to do without, gave him some additional comfort. Because money meant protection in prison. Not only would she now not be able to buy herself protection, he used the money the court awarded him, to pay people to make her life in prison even more miserable. As some type of messed up karma.

Olivia was angrily staring at the wall of her prison cell. wearing the same beige jumpsuit everyone else was wearing and no prospects of things improving anytime soon. She couldn't believe the way her life had turned out and kept thinking back on how it could have been. Not understanding why her dreams hadn't become a reality and which step had been her downfall. But with a person so unself-aware as Olivia, no matter how obvious, she would still miss the clue that gave her the answers to her questions. That is why she was still focussing her anger and resentment towards Laila, not regretting a single thing of what she had done to her.

In fact, she was even disappointed that The Joker hadn't managed to get the job done in a more permanent fashion. She had blamed Laila for all her problems and misery almost since the day they had met, and still felt Laila was underserving of everything she had. Even now her mind was filled with a thought that showed she had made no improvement whatsoever. Underneath her breath she was mumbling. "While I have been ostracized, beaten and bruised from the day I have entered this hellhole they call prison, that stupid wench has even managed to cheat death. If only she had died, then surely Noah would have seen the error of his ways and come to me. He would have been able to realize that I am the one he was meant to be with and who can truly bring him happiness. Not that skank who he only stays with because of habit and a sense of comfort."

But no sooner had she finished those words and that thought, or had the next scheduled visitor arrived at her cell door. "Knock, knock missy. I have been told you have been a bad person in high need of punishment and today I am the lucky gal who gets to show you not to piss off the wrong people..." With those words she entered Olivia's cell, while the latter started squirming away as by now she knew what those words meant. With grunts and screams she was given a new layer of bruises on top of the ones she already had, somehow still not knowing what she had done to deserve this.
